So! I have received my MVP2 from SnailTech at last, and it's fantastic. I've got my brain around the buttons etc, and I'm very happy with it.

*context* - I've been using 2 x Ovale Elips and 1 x Ovale eGo CC for nearly a year.

However - I have a question.... It came with an iClear 30, and because I read that these were a bit dubious, I also ordered 2 x Protank 3 mini's.

After 24 hours of use, I find the iClear 30 is amazing - loads of vapour, loads of flavour (or "vapor" and flavor" if you prefer), but the PT3 mini's are both quite disappointing... I suspect it's because they have 1.5 ohm coils. I have ordered some 2.5 ohm coils, but does anyone know if this could be the problem?

The Ovale eGo CC tank, by the way, on the MVP2 is really good as well - though I'm getting better flavour from the iClear 30.

Have also tried the PT3 mini's on the Ovale eGo battery with same results.

I'm using 100% VG menthol (and a sweetish tobacco) juices.

Thanks in advance - just to be clear, the MVP2 itself is brilliant... also it sits upright without wobbling!

hello and welcome to the MVP owners thread... :toast:

seems the crowd is about 50%/50% concerning the i30
I am on the nay side, just didn’t care for it…
plastic, 510 threads, dual coils, and ALL those wicks
it didn’t hit well enuff for me…
have to admit I didn’t give it a prolonged test run, but I ran it
enuff that it got passed on to another vaper & I never gave it another thought
I had many other tanks that far out performed it at the time…

but it sounds if you're one who gets along with it, and that's a good thing :)

the debate rages on about battery care/charging
I grow tired of hashing it out amongst ourselves…

aquired some rayon a few days ago and gave it a go as wick material
my take on rayon is as far back as I remember it was always considered
a form of plastic, nylon, polyester – stretch pants, socks, scarfs, sofas etc.
just a qwik cheap wanna be cotton material substitute (wash-n-wear)
...
so I cut some (sissors) formed what I wanted then installed and
trimmed it (CLICK !) not snip snip but a loud audible CLICK !
sounds like plastic breaking, nothing like silica or cotton;
burn test, cotton wad/cotton yarn/rayon--almost identical (turn to ash)…
then added some juice to prime the wick - WOW ! no sooner than I
touched my juice bottle tip to the wick, whoosh the whole wick almost instantly
absorbed and turned the color of my juice (impressive) been vaping it in a single tank
about 1.5 days now and honestly not a big deal to me—
I could wrap (3) kanger bcc coils @ 2.0Ω, stuff each with silica/rayon/cotton
hand them to someone—one bottle of juice, 3 T3S tanks and say
“assemble/fill them, don’t tell me anything”
I bet I could pick out the silica, but not the other two…

I am very happy with my cotton yarn, but it seems its shortcoming is
breaking down to temperature, gonna see if this rayon does better in that department…

Rayon is a manufactured regenerated cellulose fiber.
It is made from purified cellulose, primarily from wood pulp,
which is chemically converted into a soluble compound.

It is then dissolved and forced through a spinneret to produce filaments
which are chemically solidified, resulting in synthetic fibers of nearly pure cellulose.
Because rayon is manufactured from naturally occurring polymers,
it is considered a semi-synthetic fiber.

Burn a little in an ashtray and decide if that's what you want in your lungs... Cellulose is paper, and that's what cigarrettes right?

Not sure what your point is. Cotton doesn't hold up well to such treatment either. The idea is to keep it wet so it doesn't burn. Even with all my dry hit problems I haven't come close to setting it on fire.

Built to about 1.8 ohms (fluctuated between 1.6-1.8) I'm running around 10W - still seems cooler, but it's a tight draw. Not as vapor-y as I was hoping. Next time, I'm going to wind on a 1/16" bit instead of the screwdriver (2mm?)

My really cheap calipers say 1/16" is smaller than 2mm. I would think you'd want a bigger ID for a looser draw.
