Thanks to both of you

I hope that does it for you but that is really to raise the pin up. It mite work for you as well. I do recall another fellow that had an o-ring fall out and he was getting a sort reading. I think he had to open the top and do some work on the connector. I don't remember exactly. Try what is in my blog and lets hope that works out for you.

Don't know if this is something to be concerned about or not.
Haven't my 2 units very long. Got them and used each until the charge went low enough for yellow. Put them on the charger and the yellow came on steady for each but didn't last long before going to steady green until full charge then went out. I know this is normal charging process.
Mow for the strange part. Been using them the past couple days with no problems. Last night one went to yellow so I put it aside. This morning I put it on the charger. Instead of getting a steady light it cycles through all 3. When the cycle gets to green, the green will flash a couple times - 2 quick then the third time is sometimes quick and the cycle repeats. Other times the third lighting of green stays longer - sometimes 1 or 2 seconds and sometimes longer - there have been some as long as 8 or 9 seconds.
Charge was at 3.7 when starting and is up to 4.0 now. First put in on about 3 hours ago and have pulled off a few times to check and attempt to reset. Have had it in both on and off mode while on the charger and it gets the same thing. One of the times that I took it off the charger, I put a tank on and everything functioned normally.
Is this cycling while charging something to be concerned about?
Is there something that can be done to rest so that the charging process shows a steady light (as I currently believe is how the normal process works)?
Thanks in advance for any insight on this.

Sounds like a charging board problem. Send it in for a swap.

Doesn't look like that's what is causing it but your idea made me think of something to try.
Had it charging from a wall wart. Took it off that and put it on the laptop - got steady green. Also tried another wart and got a steady light.
Looks like the wart went bad. Kind of odd as I used it on a MVP a few days ago and it was fine. Also used it last night for a twist batt and seemed ok. Damn thing is only 5 months old and just sits on the shelf when not being used. Guess I'll be adding 1 or 2 warts to the order I plan on making later.

Charge was 4.1 when I took it off the bad wart. Still showing that with a steady light. Had a 4.2 when I finished the previous charge a few days ago. Figure I'll leave it on for a bit more and see if it completes normal.

Any recommendations - The bad one has a 500ma output. The good wart is 1A. I know slow charge is better and I don't mind the longer wait as I have plenty of backup batts. Who votes for a 500ma charger and who says go 1A?

Cool, least you figured it out. :)

Charging board, wall wart.. all the same :) I actually charge mine on a powered USB2 hub so it only gets 500ma max.

Whats everyones preference here in terms of PG vs. VG? Im currently finding that I prefer higher VG for the vapor production.

Its funny- when I started I was all about throat hit. Now, throat hit is meh and I prefer vapor production. The good things about PG are that it seems to provide a little more flavor, it doesnt seem to gunk up coils as fast, it wicks better, and the hit feels "stronger". VG has the CLOUD though.

Im currently prefering a 70%vg/30%pg 12mg blend. My 60%pg/40%vg 12mg blend sort of feels "hollow" when I exhale. I think im going to get some higher vg of the same flavor and mix it to thicken the mix/cloud. Curious to hear about other's experiences with PG/VG

I am on the high PG side - 70/30 pg/vg on commercial, and closer to 80/20 on DIY. My main reason is that VG is definitely sweet, and I don't like sweet flavors. I still get plenty of cloud (for me) and I also prefer the texture - VG to me seems to have an almost oily mouth feel.

Yep. Just dug out the little book and it says 500ma. So that's what I'll look for.

Here ya go.. this one limits each port to 500ma.. 1a total. Charge both MVPs at the same time.

Amazon.com : Griffin PowerBlock Dual Universal Charger for MP3 Players and USB Devices (Black) : Griffin Power Block : MP3 Players & Accessories

Grr.. hate when Amazon links to the 'newer' device.. ;)

This one is rated @ 500ma per side. The new one above is 1a per side, I guess.. Might find it cheaper elsewhere 'cause of shipping

Mine does the same color cycling thing while charging on an LG wart. When I plug it into my Samsung wart, the lights stay solid while going from yellow to green as the charge goes up. No idea what is going on. It also got to 4.2 the other day while charging and the green light stayed on the MVP, never went out. Got my MVP about 2 weeks ago

Thanks for the link. Might go with the 2nd one if the places I'm going to order some other stuff from don't have anything reasonable.

I've been charging my 3 MVP's using my IA cellphone charger for the last year or so... have had no issues. !A will charge a bit faster than a 500mah, but not enough faster to make a great deal of difference. Just thought I'd share that for whatever it's worth... :)

Dude...what is that? You made a mod out of an ohm reader!!! Awesome!!!!
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

A dual 14500 battery VV evercool chip mod (Little Man #1) I bought from JamesW here on the forum. I have a back up clear one too. Sad to say he quit making mods.

042012_1250[00].jpg

You got it. Im noobish still but ill try anything :D

Also want to throw a big thanks out to donesmokin. Got a rayon sample from him today and am currently vaping off rayon on the Russian. Noticeably better clouds and flavor. Still want to compare (alternate) with cotton and such before I make the switch, but so far I like it! Considering all that donesmokin has been through recently, it was very nice of him to take time out of his day to mail me a sample :D

donesmokin, im thinking since I ride dual-sports doing both street and dirt it might be better for me to use jbweld or 5 minute epoxy instead of superglue. The russian and MVP together have some heft, and getting shook to hell off road... well lets just say id be mighty angry to see my mvp/russian go tumbling down a rock garden!

I took a trip last year to Alaska on my DR650- I really wish Id been vaping then. Its not just having to pull over for a smoke (that bike my a** needs a rest every hour anyways), but how much better I breathe! I did some offroading in Utah on the way up plus I did the Oregon outback loop and muscling that 360lb bike on rock gardens, I could feel the smoking. :vapor: is so much better.

You're welcome. Don't know that I'd trust epoxy etc. either with a Russian/MVP combo! It might be time to think leather lanyard: iTaste MVP Leather Wrap

My last dirt/street machine was a Honda XL600 back in the 80's!

I got a sample from a trusted member here. Ill offer his name but understand he may or may not be running low and I dont want to kill his supplies: donesmokin. You can get Cellucotton from beauty supply stores. Make sure you get the version that is rayon- the cotton one will say its cotton on the box.

I'm guessing I have at least 470ft of rayon still so the free sample offer stands. The way I understand it rayon is made from wood pulp which doesn't sound any worse than cotton to me. If it had nasty chemicals in it wouldn't we be tasting it?!?!?

This was my one try at a vertical coil back in May. I wasn't getting much vapor. Looking at it now I don't understand how I wasn't getting dry hits but that wasn't the problem. Been thinking about trying again with a bigger diameter coil and leaving space between the wraps. At the time I was trying for 2.5 ohm to get 10 watts with my cheapo 5 volt box mod.

All I know is that it burns to ash like paper. And the sky is not falling. And don't use it if you don't trust it.

I don't. Still rely on silica, chances of it flaring and inhaling it are null. I trust cotton gauze more since it's sterile, but it's hard to roll. Maybe ceramic wick... What I mean is all synth have a low burn point, that can be easily achieved if the device runs dry for a brief moment...

You do vape silica in your disposables, right?
