What would make it perfect is if I could plug it into any computer (even those without MVR) and have it charge.

Once the evic is updated to 1.3 it will charge and work as a pass through without mvr on the pc - just hit the fire button, screen will change from charging / updating to charging only.

FWIW, I updated to MVR 1.3 and have had zero virus/malware alerts from Malwarebytes and MS Security Essentials. Ran complete scans of both in safe mode on Win7 64bit.

I don't have much to say about the new stuff and changes, since I don't find any of them particularly useful.

But it didn't brick my eVic. It's working just the way it always has.

I had the 'infected" message with Norton, but once I read what was causing it to say that, I treated it as a bogus flag. Reason being, it wasn't matching any actual signatures, but rather it was the heuristics portion of Norton that was raising an alarm. The criteria it was using to raise the alarm was that the file was less than 1 week old, that less than 50 other norton users had used this file and some other criteria.

It did not mention that the file itself was an actual virus and it's best guess was that it maybe was a Trojan as the file seemed to have the capability to access the network/internet.

Your mileage may vary.

Good call! As an I.T. Pro I had not experienced what you and others did regarding a virus warning. Good info and well stated.

Downloaded it last night in my vm. Scanned with MS Security Essentials in the vm and it reported clean. Scanned it with NOD32 on the physical machine, and it also reported clean. Installed it (on my vm) and updated my eVic with no problems. Kinda like the new multiple mvw settings. Set up 3 different settings, 1 for evod/protank (7w, 7.2, 7.5, 8, 8, 7.7...), 1 for Vivi's (6.2, 6.4, 6.5, 6.8, 6.5...), and 1 for my rda (8.5, 9, 9.9...). Kinda nice to be able to change between the 3 quickly. Also the Stealth mode does appear to save a minor amount of battery life with it enabled.

Norton Anti-virus is showing malware/virus in the v1.3 download file from the Joyetech site. Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes, I had the same issue and had to disable Norton Antivirus temporarily in order to install MVR 1.3.

I had the same problem with earlier versions of the MVR software. I don't think there is a problem with the MVR software. I have seen Norton do the same thing (false alarm warnings) with other software from reputable companies.

Shoot Norton in the foot and let it limp away.
Undoubtedly the most complicated over driven software available for the most paranoid among us. I have fiddled with and removed versions of Norton a dozen times over the 20 years I've been tinkering with PC's. Mcfee is not far behind in laugh-ability.

Both will detect anything not 100% approved by MS and start screaming Virus or Trojan.

I have found for most needs AGV(free) and Malware bytes will keep you out of trouble. Neither program will screw up windows and both are simple to uninstall is needed, unlike Norton.

The File is clean and legit direct from Joyetech.
To get a copy with a Virus someone would need to download / rewrite / upload back to Joyetech or you download from a non approved source.

I wish they would add some control of the cutoff for manual operation. I like loooong slooooow drags.

Got an Itazte SVD a few days ago. I feel the two devices are roughly equal as far as value.
I use both of them interchangeably all day long. I mostly use eGo-threaded stuff on the eVic,
and larger tanks that only have 510 connections on the SVD. But that's just for aesthetic reasons.

I like different things about each one. But I REALLY like that the SVD either has no cutoff,
or it's something longer than 15 seconds.....

That seems like something Joyetech could easily incorporate into the next firmware revision.

Don't know if it saves battery life, but it's a nice feature, that's for sure :)

Really? I feel like it does. Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but it really seems to change how long the battery life lasts. I use a 18350 battery and it lasts me pretty much a whole day of constant vaping.

I feel the Stealth Mode setting changes the battery life because of the fact the eVic isn't counting the amount of seconds of your puff.
