OBS Crius Plus vs OBS Engine
Which is the best?
Welcome.

I have both and love both, but would take the Engine over the Crius (either of 'em) any day. The only benefit I see to the Plus is the swappable deck I'll never use...

ETA: The Crius Plus is airier, so if you're looking for a lot of air it might be a better choice, but that can be very subjective...

Well boys and girls I've tried everything to get this thing to stop gurgling and spitting back after refills to no avail,it does go away after a while but we shouldn't have to go thru that you know what I mean:-/ is any body out there able to refill without spit back or gurgles? If so share the wealth my friend:)
I got that spit back too at first. I found that if I fill it from the left side if the hole and ALMOST to the top buy not quite that it almost completely does away with the gurgle..

Thanks jj I,l give that a shot;-)
Do you stand on one leg or both when you fill it? Lol ain't it weird how those tanks will react differently just by filling on one side versus the other, both side are the same are they not? But am gonna try it,he'll I'll try anything if it'll stop the gurgling;-)

Hahaha, yes its amazing how finicky some of these things can be! I think as you guys know there is a great deal of trial and error involved with RDA's and RDTA's and pretty much all other methods of vaping, but I think that's why I enjoy it so much. To me there is a great deal of satisfaction involved when I finally do figure it out and its nice to think that by sharing some of your experiences someone else might benefit as well. I know when I started vaping this forum was pretty much the only place to turn to for information and I learned that sharing even the most random thoughts or suggestions that someone will be searching for answers or help and read what you shared and be just what they were looking for.

Jj I could not agree with you more my friend, and I thank you for taking the time to post and share, indeed some times it's the little things that you didn't think of but some one did that will resolve whatever issue you might be having,am curious to know how you are wicking yours up bud? By that I mean are you putting your wicks in the holes,if so how deep, are they touching the deck, wicking is diffinitly keys with these tanks and if all the stars do not align just right you will not have a great vape, can't wait until I have to refill so I can try the left side of the fill hole technique and will report back;-)

Ok,so I took your advice and filled from the left side and it did cut down on spit back some, almost none now,two pulls and it's gone vs 4-5 pulls, crazy right? Thanks again for the tip bud,but still very interested on how you wick if you have the time;-)

Awesome! I'm glad it helped you a little bit anyway It must be the full moon! Anyway I have been cutting my wick pretty short and kind of curl it down not sticking all the way through the hole but just enough to hold it in place.. From my experience as little wick as possible seems to be just right. I use 98℅ VG and it never gets dry. Knock on wood..

So, I had a lot of spit back on the 24ga 7 wrap coils I had in my Engine...was about to give up! Decided to put some Hive coils back in, added a couple winds to my original Hive and got the resistance to 0.37 ohms. I also lowered the coils to about halfway up the posts (maybe a little more). I used a little less cotton on the tails. Still nice and snug inside the coils, just less on the deck. Running at 53-55 watts I get a really nice warm (not hot) vape with a richer flavor than I was getting. We'll see how she goes throughout the day. Think I might have nailed it.

When I first got mine the other day, I wound two 26ga coils, 7 wraps, 3.5mm ID, cut off two strips of cotton that fit snugly in the coils, cut them off even with the outside of the base cap, tucked them down into the holes, and filled it up. I do get the tiniest bit of gurgle on the first couple of draws after a refill, but then it goes away. Maybe I just got lucky the first time. I'll have to see how things go on the next rebuild, but now I'm kind of freaked out about it. :D

franck,
When I purchased my first Engine, I tried a couple different methods of wicking. The first method involved just wrapping the wick tails beneath the coils and covering the holes in the deck. The second method I used was to cut the wicks to just barely penetrate into the holes. On both of these builds I had spit back and gurgling every time I filled. I then used the method as described in the instructions that come with it and cut the wick tails to go down through the holes, filling them with wick and I have never had a single problem since. I get no dry hits and it never floods. I have been using this tank for three weeks now with nothing but great performance. To me it is the best RTA I have ever used. Good luck with yours.

Thanks for the tips Paul,ya that's pretty much how I do mine now after trying a few different methods as you did,I still find not to be the smoothest of tanks and much prefer my Sapor 25 mm rta over the engine,I have the excact same build in both but Sapor is so smooth you'd swear I have a pre built coil in there, the engine always pops a little,or spits a little, just cannot get it to hit as smoothly,it's just ok,but I'll keep plugging away and see if it ever improves but don't have much faith that I can get it any smoother,I've thrown every build and wick job at it that I can think of;-)

I have not tried the Sapor but I do love my Serpent Minis! I don't know if it could make a difference but I am using 26/32 kanthal clapton wire with 7 wraps on a 3mm rod. I stuff the coils rather tight with cotton bacon and comb it out a bit. I would say I cut it about even with the bottom of the chamber and stuff the wick holes fully. I also use 50/50 liquid so maybe that is the difference.

Hey Paul,ya am using cotton bacon v2 as well and 70/30 blend, are your wicks touching the deck at all?

Lol,don't be freaked out bud, just take your time wicking it and try out different techniques until you find what works best for you, peeps on this forum are AWSOME as they always share they're methods and experiences which in many times can help solve that puzzle ;-)

Well the Engine passed one of its big tests the end of last week. I had to travel around, and stuck the Engine on my VT 75, figuring the top air, top fill would make it a dry trip. Sure enough, jostling around, even ending up upside down in my pocket (yes, I know that's bad, and no, it wasn't on purpose) and not a drop spilled. Continues to vape smooth for me and I continue to be lucky that I'm not getting any spitback from it. I have no idea why I'm having luck with the wicking (if that's even the reason) and getting a smooth vape.
