Of course your welcome Sando7 and we're glad to have you! Grab a rocker and have a sit. The name of the thread is Older Folks which just means people who have been around awhile. Nobody is checking birth certificates here!

How did you get started on vaping and what devices are you using now? It's always interesting to see the progression of what people start out with.

Oh, and I forgot to tell you CONGRATULATIONS on making the switch and being able to celebrate 6 months as a former smoker! Ain't that grand to be able to say that!!!

started out with some Halo gear.....was at the point where i was having trouble sleeping because i couldn't breath properly while laying down, you know the reg story of hacking and wheezing to the point of bursting blood vessels hehe.......about a week after starting i wasn't satisfied with the Halo gear and i bought a SID and the rest is history .....pic's of my gear below, to many pic's to post so i just linked them.

He, he - I looked at the albums in your profile. Geez - you've got more stuff than a lot of small B&M vape shops. Nice collection. :toast:

That's awesome! I wonder if I can talk Patty into moving all her stationary and cards...

Actually, I used to do my homework on that desk and I just remembered that my parents kept their carton of cigarettes on the top. For Christmas one year I'd gotten my Dad a wood dispenser that held a carton of his Camels so he could just pull out 1 pack at a time. It's strange that as a kid I never noticed the awful smoke smell.

Your right ...but they could "sell" a song.
I could add Jonny Cash, Burl Ives, and Willy Nelson
Let me correct that ... I could also add almost ALL singers in the last decade, or more
Think I've lived too long

I did say da list goes on. :) And one that really stands out to me that for most don't see it. If you've ever closed your eyes and carefully listened to each note... Sinatra couldn't carry a tune in a hand basket. Lotta charisma and a decent actor, but not a singer.

Are there good ones out there? You bet. But it seems it's a curse I always had. I could analyze a singer for singing or an actor.for acting. There are a ton of actors out there who can't act either. :) There are actors and there are line readers. My opinyun n' I'm stuck wid it.

I really do enjoyJoe Cocker! But since I was in the USAF at da time, I couldn't attend Woodstock. So I had to look him up on YT for his WS performance. Thankfully, someone translated his 'With A Little Help From My Friends'...

Kinda gives a warped, but appropriate, meaning to Dow Chemical's ol' motto of "Better Living Through Chemistry"...

I also have always like Joe Cocker but, damn if he doesn't look like he's having a gran mal seizure right up there on the stage. Goofy looking dude. Love his music though.

I think there's a world of difference between someone who has a really unusual singing voice and someone who can't carry a tune. When Joe Cocker asks "what would you do if I sang out of tune?" the answer is: no one knows. We won't know until such time as he does sing out of tune.
Every one of the singers named so far has a uniquely recognizable unconventional singing voice, but they all sing in tune. Granted that some start "close" to a note and then slide into it.

Now as far as actors who can't act... no argument there. My favorite person to pick on in that regard is Keanu Reeves.

My mother liked to tell the story of us asking her not sing when she was trying to lullaby us to sleep. She was also the only woman I have known that was ask to leave the church choir. Betty Edwards, the choir director, told her "Elise, you give new meaning to "make a joyful noise unto the Lord"!". Good thing she had a great sense of humor.

My mom never tried to join a choir but we kids said "Mommy, please don't sing" during hymns at church.

I saw Joe Cocker at Walnut Creek in Raleigh around 1992. Fleetwood Mac was a little disappointing, BB King was great, Buddy Guy was awesome but Joe Cocker was phenomenal. (Must have been 2 different concerts that I'm combining in my mind because although I know I saw all of the above at Walnut Creek in the early 1990s, I now remember that Sha-na-na was there too.... doubt that all of those acts would have been put in just one concert.)

OMG, I'm not da only one wid da same 'evaluation'!!!

IMHO, Bing Crosby and Andy Williams (plus a few others of dat genre) 'kicked' FS to da curb. Crooning was a physical corrective adaption post WWII and prior to 'tronics of today.

BTW, one of my fav 'non-vocalists' is Kenny Rogers; all da way back to da The New Christy Minstrels. OK, yeah, I'm an ol' fart wid a few remaining musical synaptic connections remaining.

i've always liked to tinker so this hobby is rite up my alley...plus i look at it as an investment, good as cash on hand.....now my breath/hands and fingers don't stink there just a bit slimy from all the Jooze.....i like hybrids and any tubes that are 20x1, love to mix parts.....found that my Orochi switch works beter on my Vapelyfe hybrid and vice-a-versa...

i still have a bunch of ticket stubs from concerts i saved from the 70's seen almost all of the top-dogs and was reading about the Rockers here my first concert was J-Giles/Robin Trower back in 71 or 2 it was the loudest concert i ever been to, seen the real Lynyrd Skynyrd 2 or 3 times, seen the Stone's 3 times in one weekend, louisville, Lexington ky and Cleveland Ohio....bunch of us chartered a greyhound and the bus-ride was better than the shows at least what i can remember of it......we stopped for beer as soon as we crossed the Ohio line at the first truck-stop we saw and bought every beer they had in the cooler...well you guy's remember what the early to mid 70's were like...it's a miracle i survived:toast:....i'll quit ramblin now

Not to forget ol' Deano! :) Golden voices seem far and few between. Mebbe Frank is remembered for the nostalgia. But every time you'd see Frank and Dean on the same stage... really looked like Deano was snickering. LOL

I saw Pink Floyd on the Dark Side of the Moon tour in Orlando and the Rolling Stones in Jacksonville but, the one I will never forget is the Allman Brothers at Peabody Auditorium in Daytona Beach. At the time it seated a whopping 1500 people. Saw Vanilla Fudge at the Bandshell on the Boardwalk in Daytona on the beach down by Main Street during spring break in 1972. Foghat at the ABC lounge on A1A in 1973 or 1975. Obviously had a fairly cool childhood considering I joined the Navy at 17 in 1975.

Yepper - a lot of us on the porch wonder how we got through those years.

Me too - I've got a soft spot for 20mm mechs. Ramble over to our front porch where I just post pictures of my favorite 20mm hybrids.

I'm not a big Sinatra fan at all, but let me present a short defense of his musicality:
the songs "Do You Remember" and "When I Was Seventeen" are pretty complicated and have difficult melody lines. In my opinion, Old Blue Eyes pulls them off pretty well.

My first concert was Jefferson Airplane, outdoors somewhere in NJ. I haven't been to that many concerts in my life for the same reason that I don't go to Costco. I have never really enjoyed being in a crowd.

We'll have to agree to disagree. :) Everyone else did them better. He just keeps drifting off key. Actually, "seventeen" was one of the few he did fairly well. Just not perfectly. Again, nuthin against him. Liked him as an actor.
