Thanks to a heads-up from Myrany, I've been keeping up with
this thread - about a proposed new vaping law in GA.
I haven't read the proposed bill because:
1) Legalese makes my head hurt.
2) It's in the 1st draft right now, and will likely change as lawyers and advocates for both sides spar over the wording and intent.
3) There is nothing I can do about it anyway, besides writing/calling my state reps, who are Democrats and in the minority in the House - so won't have much, if any, say in passing the bill or not.
I do plan on:
1) Writing/calling House (Republican) Representatives - whether they're in my district or not.
2) Spreading the word re: the proposed legislation to as many people as possible.
3) Calling Patty, the (Democrat) Rep. for my district, for whom I have her personal cellphone #, and have worked on her personal computers many times in the past. Before being elected State Rep., she was a county commissioner for many terms, and I am the unofficial (self-employed) "IT Guy" for the county. From the Dept. of Roads & Bridges to the Administrative offices to all the Courthouse offices, I keep all the county's computers running - and she knows I've gone above-and-beyond many times in emergencies. And Patty has come in at the last minute on many-a Friday afternoon to sign my check when no other commish would. Even tho she's a Democrat, I like her. And even tho she knows I'm a compassionate conservative and vote mostly Republican, she likes me too... she doesn't know this for a fact, but I
did vote for her.

And I
will be contacting her first thing Monday.
From reading the above mentioned thread, I've gleaned several things:
1) As currently written, it is, as of now, a 1st draft and will likely change.
2) As currently written, it is a draconian, yet jumbled, abomination likely written by ill-informed staffers.
3) It was introduced by Republicans, who control both chambers and the governorship, so the final draft will likely pass.
4) It targets hardware less and the production and sale of eliquid more.
Actually, I have no problem with the production of eliquid being somewhat (reasonably) regulated. IMO that is the one variable in the chain that holds the possibility of harm... which is why I DIY, and don't use flavors anymore - flavoring just makes the whole thing more complicated than I want to mess with right now.
Thanks to everyone out there in radio-land for tuning in... especially to all who slogged through the entire above diatribe. This has been the Geno Radio Big Show, brought to you by Hargraves Potted Meat - using only the best peckers and lips since 1955.
Now get me outta here Percy!
