... It seems that as soon as he gets congested in his head he also gets ear infections. That's why they're talking about the possibility of tubes. Yuck! Hate the thought of that. !

Our mid daughter had to go through that procedure in her third year. Believe me, she and we never regretted it! She hardly remembers her issue. At the time she only had 20% hearing in her left ear (nuttin' personal Dave, just must be in da Iphphy genes <lil' chuckle>)

Janet, if a tube implant is required, be happy. There are several more severe possibilities!

There was a place in Florida that I used to go to called "Gators", they had fried gator tail there and some very delicious dippin' sauces... man I miss that place...

Had one locally that closed a couple years ago. BTW, da best fresh sliced/fried fries in da area! Recently, it re-opended under new management. Haven't tried da new out yet.

Guess that makes me an official porcher. Well, an official something anyways.

Hey, ya (et al) became an official porcher when ya grabbed dat rocker. Your baptism by cast iron skillet just means dat ya can't duck quick 'nuff! Just be glad dat 3mg doesn't wield one <see next da quote>... I am!

Close is not good enough, for those whose brains encode directly from written language. Difficult for us to read what is written phonetically. Even if it is good phonics.

I have an appointment in June. (ducks and runs)

June? JUNE?? JUNE??? Deba, you're closer to Debra than I, grab dat skillet!

BTW Deba, if you're having ducks and da runs, hunt in 'nother bayou and grill' em just a tad longer...

Sweetheart, please add my best WWs to that long list. I ever so much enjoy your presence upon da porches.

There's a very good reason that you don't find otc medications for infants and toddlers anymore. They were pulled from the market because they caused more harm than good. They are dangerous for small children. The medications that do control coughs and congestion in very young children need to be very exact in the dosage to work without overdosing a child.

As for the alcohol in them working to knock a child out you might as well just load up the bottle or sippy cup with a shot of whiskey.
Yep.

@Rotowoman, please don't wait until June! Never mind, "duck and run." It's much easier to fix problems when they're caught early on. So go let 'em get caught! An eat, please.
I'll see what happens after this hitch. Wait for hail, snow, and hurricanes on land. I cooked today and actually ate a salad and some spaghetti
Good!

It says on the box of that product for ages 2+ Janet's grandson is 15 months old so it would not be appropriate.

I was sharing what I did, and gave a link to the exact product, so there would be no confusion on what it was I use. I use it safely with my GD and started using it when she was 1ish y/o and thought that would be useful information.

And just to let you know, there are comments on having 18 and 21 month olds taking it.

That's where I'm leaving my thoughts on your thoughts, otherwise I could let you know what my reaction is to being told I'm a terrible grandmother because I gave something to a 1 y/o that ABSOLUTELY STARTS AT 2+!

So she smeared the Vicks on my upper lip!!

Post-infancy, fer moi, pot o' boiling water, glob of Vicks and a bath towel over head.

I know when I start to hack and my sinuses are draining, a little bourbon helps me sleep.

Regardless of sinus condition, still works fer moi.

Knowing Matt, he would eat dat counter clockwise!

BTW, saved dat recipe. Thanx...

Giving a medication without a Dr's recommendation that is intended for an older child to a baby is child endangerment.
Fortunately your lack of judgement didn't land her in the hospital or worse.

Bottom line is if you do not follow the Dr's or the actual directions it's misuse. Risking her health because you "feel" it's ok, or the reviews on Walgreens are full of comments from others misuse of a product doesn't change the fact that it was improperly administered.

You can tell yourself it isn't but the law is the law.

not THIS hamster and THIS puppy! Frankie (the dog) finally figured out the thing in the cage was alive...... I had to shut faith's door last night cuz when he hears her, he'll go in there and whine at her. When I'm in there trying to socialize her and and he's outside the shut door he barks lol Dunno if he wants to love her or eat her

I don't think accusing someone of endangerment is necessary. She said she'd been administering meds for 30 years. Don't know her background, but I don't think you do either. What you're saying is technically correct, but who here has ever taken more than 2 OTC motrin cuz they were out of 800 mg Rx? I'd bet most of us. I was a very good mother, but gave my son some rice cereal mixed in a bottle at night before the age it said. Many of those things are on there because they have to be to avoid being sued.

Obviously it must be a dog treat in the cage! Come on MOM he wants to play with the dog treat!

Manners, Tweety!

Good morning, Porchers :)

I'm a wee bit nervous, this morning, apprehensive about starting with a new medical team. It's silly; I'm blessed to be in relatively close proximity to the best oncology center for this *%#*+*! disease in the country -- but I'm still fretting. I was hoping someone knew where I can find the key to the Tardis. It's gone missing, again. Anyone?

The Ospreys are building their nest. A sure sign of spring! They're so funny, swooping through the air, dive bombing those foolish Hawks (who invariably think they can lay claim to the Ospreys' pier). The new nest, begun only a day or two ago, will be done by the middle of next week. Then, the great wait begins!

Enjoy the day, dear ones. Back in a bit! :)
