The bigger reason was also because he was of an old very good bloodline that the older judges loved and appreciated and scored him well, but the newer judges weren't used to seeing a basset like him and thought he didn't come up to snuff. When he did go up, he made his mother the most producing (female dog) of basset champions ever at that time.
HA! Got a partial quote, YES!

Geordi goes back to old bloodlines. I had that problem with Tasha showing her in Florida. There is a popular breeder here who's gone "more modern". I would show against them and, even though Tasha's sister was the top Terv in the country for several years, I they think would look at her and say "hum, that one is so different, must be something wrong", although she is more "correct" then they were! Had no problem finishing her up north!

OK, got this media embed thing figured out. I was trying to make it too hard! - By clicking "share" below the vid window, then the "embed" tab, then copy/pasting that code... just now tried copy/pasting the web address into the insert media box, and that worked... derp.

This is what I'm listening to in the background right now.

Oh, one of my favorite S&G songs!!!

I love my cast iron! I go to a lot of thrift stores because I like old vintage dishes. A friend asked me to be on the lookout for a tiny cast iron skillet. I finally found an old junked up one that's 7". I decided to clean it up for her and used it a few times. I just fell in love with it - it's great for cornbread! She got a new one for her birthday and I kept the old one. People ask me how I cook for just one person...I use tiny dishes!

We have one of those 36" skillets we keep in our cabin on the river. We use it on a huge bbq pit made out of an old propane tank. My stepdad used to fry up taters in it along with a pound or so of butter. When we were done with dinner, he'd leave it on the ground overnight to let the raccoons clean it up.

Off topic and selfish - got our ring times for the dog show next weekend. Sat Jan 23, 11 am, we should be in shortly after (3 dogs of another breed before us). Looks like just Geordi and his brother Khan (Trekkers in this litter!). Sun, Jan 24, 9 am after 3 other breeds, 15 total dogs. Both days Ring 12. 1 point possible if we beat brother. But if we beat brother and get Best of Winners over the 4 girls, 3 point major! Hahaha! (need 2 majors, winning over a certain number of beasts, and total of 15 points for Champion title). Actually, if he is not a dork and lets the judge examine him and does not drag me around the ring I will be OK. He is a nice boy and we need ring time for training.

OK, my selfish rambling is done for now. Carry on..
Go Geordi! Go Geordi! Go Geordi! Wooo!

oh kewl that worked!!! lol I wonder if you have to be signed in to see it that way for some reason, but I have them all listed to public. So I don't understand. Ok, well I just signed out, then went back to it, and yeah I see what you see. You can click on it so it opens in it's own box (left click) then do a right click and click save as to dl it to your computer. That stinks, I'm sorry about that. Anyone know how to do this to where folks will see it with the 4 codes when I give them a link??

I was logged in when looking at your gif folders. Just must be a quirk of P-bucket.

One good site to peruse for info on the history and cleaning of cast iron is: The Wagner & Griswold Society.

I became interested in cast iron restoration several years ago, and at the time that site had the most comprehensive info on dating and cleaning my pieces. I even built an electrolysis tank based on the info and pictures there -on this page. Works great!

I already had a plastic 55 gal. drum, a car battery charger, and some swimming pool PH+ (sodium carbonate). A machinist friend welded a stainless steel rod to a SS grate for me. Scrounged up a few more bits and pieces, and voila! Amazing results - old caked on grease and even rust just "melts" off in a few days. I did all my old, inherited, pieces and many pieces for friends and neighbors since then - griddles, pans, dutch ovens, you name it. The little nooks and crannies in cast iron cornbread molds come out clean as a whistle.

The re-seasoning is the most time-consuming (and touchiest) part, but once you get that figured out - no problem. I use lard (ala Crisco) spread in a thin layer, several applications, in a 400 deg. oven. Too thick and it'll run -then you have to start all over.

This is my favorite Griswold pan. It may be older than me ... it was my Dad's and I always remember it around the house. It's one of the 'things' of his I wanted when he passed. Remember him every time a fry an egg sandwich.

I am giving serious consideration to my next career .. producing Steampunk style PV's and somehow melding the look of this almost HR Giger inspired lighter of Davids .. :) .. in addition, the Sonic Screwdriver deserves consideration .. or how about a mini Lightsaber .. ?

I've seen pics of some quite pricey one-of-a-kind steam punk mods being sold in France....:D

Well, you know he publicly stated, right here, in writing, that he would share the winnings in at least the form of a Mega Vacation for all .. ;) .. wondering if that would hold up legally .. ;)

61181"]Nooooooooooooooooooooo...........

Nooooooooooooooooooooo??? Why? It's been working great on my pans and they're well seasoned and practically non-stick. After cleaning with hot water I'll give them a light smear of lard and heat them up for a few minutes and put them away.

Speaking of pots and pans. When we re-did the kitchen I finally got rid of my old non-stick set of pots and pans that were long past needing replacement. I got stainless pots which I love. But you know how they get spotted on the inside bottom? I didn't want to use brillo on them if I didn't have to so Mike tried one of those Magic Erasers on them and they came up shining like they were brand new! Who knew they'd work so well?[/QUOTE]

I thought possibly you were using a harsh pad or something to get them to shine like a new penny or something. Sorry.......guess I "hollered" too soon. I love seasoned cast iron. There is no other type of skillet that fries chicken or makes cornbread like they do when used as you are using them. Sorry........

Possibly, but that's up to his breeder to approve. He has very nice bloodlines, but we shall see. I just sometimes don't like to interrupt a going conversation. :)
It's your dog, just curious why the breeder has any say at all. ;)

there may or may not be certain restrictions placed on a pup you purchase from a breeder when you are buying papered, registered dogs from a good bloodline.
The last one I bought from my breeder friend was a show quality pup, complete with all papers....with the contingency that I would allow the breeder to breed her with one of her dogs when she was two. Pick of litter to go to the breeder, and.....there were to be no following litters, ever. Just a one time thing.

Yiddle already pretty much answered. (edit - thank you! Spot on explanation) Plus the breeder co owns him. She charged $1, 500 for the pups but gave Geordi to me for all I have helped her in the past. Long time friends are we (my inner Yoda coming out with Willie's mods). She has done extensive research developing this pedigree over 30+ years and I really respect that. Although I know the pedigree and dogs behind it, it is her hard work behind him. I don't know nothin'! So, any breeding decisions get her blessing or not happening.
