Well Hello everyone. Sorry I have been going through some pretty heavy depression. I am scared of what is going on with my heart. What I have is calcification of the whole heart not just the valves. It's pretty rare like 1-2%. They don't know what causes it and the docs here really don't have an answer. The Cleveland Clinic which is rated #1 in the US could possibly fix it better then it is but it is expensive. They accept Medicare but only as a partial payment. It's $565 just to get a second opinion based on previous echos and operative reports. The UofW will accept Medicare is closer and is ranked #27 in the nation for cardiac problems. I'm not ready to give up, my mind is still good and sharp, except when it comes to buying vape stuff. I'm thinking of sending my records to the UW and see what they think. Here they are just watching and waiting for the inevitable. I still have severe aortic insufficiency and a worse leak then I had before surgery. What needs to happen is my aortic valve needs to be redone, my aortic root replaced and my mitral valve replaced. No one here is really qualified to do it and it is high risk like a <50/50 chance of survival. So I am weighing my options.
On the good side I get my new legs next Thursday so have to learn to walk all over again. Tried my test sockets yesterday and fit was good but being so much tighter is what I will have to get used too. It makes my calf muscles work more and tires them out pretty fast. These are going to be the best color yet plus my suction liners the new ones are black so they will look a lot better. Pics to follow.
I am supposed to see the specialist about treatment for Hep C next Friday but not sure how that is going to work. I don't absorb meds very well. Like they did a UA on me and my wife and even though we had the same gastric surgery she also takes the same pain pills I do about half as many and her levels were twice as high as mine, weird huh? Plus if anything is going to happen with my heart not sure if I should start it. I don't have any symptoms yet and my liver functions are still all normal so will have to wait and see.
Any way thats whats been going on with me. Nothing too exciting just having to make up my mind, again and you all know what that is like. Definately a problem. Think I will talk to my old doc and he will help, he still works in research. So I will contact him.
Im reading ya, keep yer nose up and dont stall out

The lamb turned out perfect! I was out of rosemary and black pepper.... nothing will substitute for fresh rosemary, but I used flaked red pepper instead of black pepper, and it added just the right zing!. The lamb is so tender that it just falls apart if the fork looks at it. I've got one bell pepper left, and enough of the rest to last me to the weekend and maybe beyond.
Good healthy cooking there.
BTW: I love my crock pot.
I love my crock pot too. So many things you can make, set it and forget it. Till it's time to EAT, and usually eat for days.

awwwwwwwwww poor fellas!! Hate that for both of em! Make sure you take care of yourself while you take care of them. Gracie would tell ya zinc lozenges I'm sure. Absolutely hope you stay well and they get over it very soon!!

Yep, got the lozenges and extra Vit C. I'm NOT getting this because I want to enjoy getting snowed in this weekend.

Well, folks, I am the proud nana of grandbaby #4...

We welcomed Maria Catherine into this world last night weighing 7lb.10oz...19". She is so absolutely beautiful!!!

We're had to come home for a bit, but will be on our way back in a few minutes but had to come in and share our good news.
Rest of the family came in town and we'll all be staying at our son's house! There's plenty of room there so our new Mama and Daddy will have their privacy!
Mama Leoni (me) and my daughter will be cooking for the next week! We're all so excited and so very grateful!

Ugh! Nurse Janet here. Poor Miles has double ear infections, foot/hand/mouth virus, a cold, and possibly a molar coming in. His fever was 102.4. We had him all day Monday. Poor little man looked so pathetic. Dropped him off, came home with plans to pick him up this morning so our son and DIL could go to work. But at 12:30 a.m. I woke up to the bed shaking like crazy. It was Mike having chills from a fever. Went for the elec thermometer - battery was dead. Good thing I had a back up with a non-mercury manual one that worked. 102 degrees. Got him settled and went down to sleep on the couch. I think he's got narcolepsy. Up until 7:00 tonight I don't think he was awake 15 minutes all day! He was only awake enough for me to bring him juice. He even sat up thinking it would help and 3 minutes later he was snoring. Miles slept late then napped for 4 hours today and still went to bed at 7:30 so I guess they both had whatever this thing is. I am NOT going to get it!

Think I'm headed to bed now and will go back and catch up on the thread tomorrow. Matt, hope you have a safe trip in the morning. The sooner you get there the sooner you can go back to FL.

Hope everyone is feeling better today.

Morning porchers!

I sure hope that everyone in the middle/lower part of the country are paying attention to the weather reports for the next few days, as a lot of you are gonna catch royal hell! It is SO weird that Mi. has been so calm and snow-free so far!

Scott...I finally ordered a laptop...:D

and went to the hardware store to get a bracket for the laptop tray table.

I'll be lounging back in a matter of days:D

Hope everyone in the path of the latest upcoming bad weather stays dry, warm and, especially, safe.

yiddle, thank you for that... it really brought back a lot of good old memories.

I was a weekend DJ at an FM radio station when that came out (sold ads and wrote copy weekdays), and took requests on Saturdays. By request, I played that song so many times I got tired of it for the longest time! For years, when it came on the radio I'd change stations.

But I'm over that now... ;)

There's a lot of Steve Miller Band that was like that for me. Also anything from the Areosmith Rocks album. Mideast cruise in 1976/77 as an E4 in charge of the compartment cleaning detail for the berthing compartment. That was one of two cassettes that got played ALL THE TIME! Yep, got really sick of that one too. :D
