I can't stress "GOOD" doctors enough. I've had my share of catastrophes with some.....but I also know what I need and when I need it.....so, I've learned to scream bloody murder when I feel myself speeding downhill........

The wonderful doctor/clinic that saved my life last summer is gone! They closed the clinic on Dec 31st because of lack of funding.

The cardiologist that I found through the clinic is good too. So, I'm gonna try to stick with him for as long as I can. Otherwise, it's a cold, cruel world out there trying to find a good doctor. Especially without insurance!

I know the lyrics....I prefer to pull myself up out of depression instead of drowning myself in it....sorry folks....that's just me and my choice of how I deal with such a state of mind........I've been on that fast downward spiral.......don't want to ever go there again

Way to go! yiddleboge6, main thing is you're doing what you can do to pull yourself out from the grip of things negative. I always say that my body might not be totally mine but thank goodness my spirit still is mine and so glad that is still bright and shining. No apology necessary we should all by this point in life understand and support your efforts.

Well, "most" S&G tunes are... maybe not depressing, maybe "sobering" would be a better word. They carry a message even tho you sometimes have to read between the lines. Now this rendition used really dark images which might have made it depressing to some. Personally I didn't really care for the video. But he certainly could/did belt out that song. And the lyrics still work today.
IMO, of course.

His rendering & accompanying video made it dark. The song itself inspires thoughtfulness. It always made me look at myself to examine how much attention & consideration I was paying to those around me. People do speak without listening. Listen & really hear first, then speak. I've always thought of it as listening between the lines. I'm a people watcher, I enjoy seeing how people interact with whatever is around them. Be it things, or animals or other people. It's a very thoughtful song, not dark at all to me, but his rendering makes it so.

But, I don't tend to listen to the words to songs much. I have too much trouble hearing/understanding what most songs are saying! I mostly just like the sound and feeling of it, melody, beat, voice, etc.

Me,too. I need to hook up my phone to my "headband" and listen to some music to distract myself from my various aches and pains.

I completely agree! I've been through enough with apathetic medical people that I do not have a problem calling out one when I don't think they are paying attention, or brushing me off. When I had that blowout in 2010 I was admitted to the hospital thru the ER. I have no idea how the surgeon that showed up in my room was chosen, but it wasn't by me. He came in & talked to me about the surgery & when he started to poke around he literally POKED around asking me if it hurt. In a word, YES! I held back until he was gone, then called in a nurse & told her to contact that Dr & tell him his services were no longer needed, that if I wanted to get poked I'd get married. Called my PC, explained, she lol'd, & we talked about it & decided on one. She contacted him & I ended up with a great Dr who lol'd when I told him why I'd fired the other guy. I've been going to the same 4 Dr clinic since 1978. She is my second PC in that entire time. Of the 4 there now I only like & trust 2 of them. I hate getting a different PA at the RA office. They always think they know better than the last one & want to change my meds up. I educate them.

I enjoyed the Sounds of Silence for the song, but I agree the visual was dark. Many of Paul Simon's songs have deep meaning if you listen closely. But he does do some fun ones - You Can Call Me Al, Kodachrome, etc. If you listen to the words, howver, there is a story or message there. And not always joyous. Love me some Paul Simon!

IMO, of course.

I interpret the video differently, i see a world that has forgotten how to express music (happiness, joy, freedom) and a group of men digging out the old instuments and bringing them to the people langing to share the music they wrote (thoughts, feelings, pain, hurt).
As such, it is for me a metaphor for people unable to share being helped to find their voice by those who have been through it before, and i find it uplifting.

Excellent 'choreography'!!! The music matched the 'cuts' and 'pans' perfectly! (or whatever ya call 'em).
