Is the new Roots starting tonight? Telling my husband to check now; Central time here, probably already started, too.

I'm in central too and jup it started at 8. Do you have a backup or start over feature with your tv service? Sometimes if we start recording after something starts, it'll still record the whole thing, but have never tried that over an hour or check to see if they'll be showing it again

ETA: just checked (and realized this is part 2 tonite) but they will be showing both again on mine, so just do a search you should be able to catch em later this week

Lol!!! I think I'm ready. I'm officially able to order from the Senior menu. Why don't we get a Senior discount on ejuice?!?

Hi Starre! I know you from the juice Junkies thread. Welcome to the porches! Hum, what porch is this? On my phone I can't tell... Back porch is talk about anything, Front porch is supposed to be vape related only, but we do tend to push the limits.. Lots of great, friendly, knowledgeable, seasoned (young and, well, seasoned) people who care and share. I am not always chatty due to real life time, but I read everything!

Maybe they ought to institute a senior discount policy to mitigate the consequences of age verification to weed out the under 18's. I'm signing off all electronics. Thunder-boomer on its way, wind is picking up, and I don't trust the progressively more moderate predictions. That sky looks ugly.

Stay safe!

You know the biggest thing I remember about the military is all the different kinds of people you were exposed to and made friends with. From people who were given the choice of Jail or Enlist, Army or Marines guys who were real smart who probably did or could've done a lot in life but got drafted. I made so many friends with so many people from different walks of life but your friendships were usually not forever usually. And even with that I don't remember any fights or someone hurting or killing a fellow soldier.
Yeap made a lot of short time friends in the military. I do have a couple that I stay in contact with on FB and with email.

I miss my puppy dog...
After having my little girl for 6 years, she has now developed a fear of thunder. I have had to sleep in my recliner during a couple noisy storms so she could sleep on my chest. I have found what is called a ThunderShirt that is supposed to help with dog anxiety, separation anxiety, and storm anxiety. We have had some good thunder boomers in the last couple days and I am glad to say she is calmer when I put the ThunderShirt on her. I picked it up Petsmart for I think $40 and I feel it was well worth the cost. The size is based on the dogs weight, I was surprised at what she weighed. I think a diet is in order as she weighed in at 9 pounds.

What's ironic, waaay back in my younger years, luv'd to wear tight fittin' clothes/uniforms. Nowadays, looser da better; or better yet, 'don't need no stinkin' clothes'...

Day 1 of exile complete, miss my puppy dog, miss the wife too, but still enjoying the silence, start new job tomorrow

Sent from a dark, twisted corner of the back porch, covered in cobwebs and slightly damp.

I expect a complete report .. ;)

I'm up late.. See my rant on the front porch.. Quickey recap, after getting home tonight (3 weeks on the road), had wonderful vape mail. After bed had a sick puppy. Up cleaning that stinky mess. Sigh.... :(:sneaky::cry:

Thindershirts - had one for years for Spock. He was petrified of Tstorms. Tasha never minded until about 2 years ago we were home and lightning hit what looked and seemed like the back yard. House shook and even I jumped. Ever since, thunder phobia. Spock's shirt is too big for her so I put a Tshirt on her and wrap a figure 8 ace bandage around her body. Does seem to help.

Russ, good luck on the new job tomorrow! Hope all goes well. First day is always the toughest, just learning what is where and who is who. I just know you will be fine.

They showed Roots again at 9 and 10, and I recorded it. Part 1 is showing again in a few days, so I have that set to record, too. I didn't know they'd remade Roots. I watched the original when I was a child.
What did y'all think about Kunta Kinte's prayer when he named Kizzie? Did anyone notice that?

Hi clnire,
I hopped on my old tablet, and off Tapatalk...WOW...it's an amazing difference, in a good way. Now I know why it looks like people are saying banana! :banana:Lol.
I think this is the Back Porch; hope so since I remarked on "Kunta Kinte's" prayer. And I do recognize you from Juice Junkies. I'm vaping some steeped Duchess, only because of that thread, and oh what a difference a steep makes! It really isTres Leches. :vapor:

This is the first time I've been on ECF sans Tapatalk and on my old Tablet in forever and a day. Please excuse my snafu on TRYING to reply to your question.
Yes, I recorded "Roots", it replayed Part2 and Part 1 will air again in a few days. I'd check for you, but my husband's sleeping with the remote, AGAIN...

awwwwwwww glad the thundershirt is helpin her, it's so sad when they're so afraid. Frankie isn't afraid of storms, but once in awhile he does jump at first at a really loud one. But he's always snuggled up next to me, so I just have my hand on him, let him know it's ok, and he doesn't freak out.

or better yet, 'don't need no stinkin' clothes'...

Best wishes tomorrow! I know you'll do fine both with the exile and the job, just really hope you like the job!

I haven't watched it yet. I have both 1 and 2 recorded now. But won't watch it til all 4 parts are recorded. Still got tomorrow night and Thursday to go. Glad you got part 2 and get part 1, so you'll be up to speed. lol on hubby sleepin with the remote. Grab it at some point so you can get the next two nights set to record. :)

Glad it's better viewing the forum on a tablet. I don't think I could ever do it on a phone, I had trouble with the tablet when it was working, and it was one of the 10" ones. lol I am incredibly tech challenged

Cathy, glad you're finally home! Haven't seen the rant yet, FP is next. Sorry Geordi was sick.

What precedes the rediscovery of swaddling is that Temple Grandin, the animal behaviorist, discovered that gentle pressure was calming to animals. She tried it on herself for her intense anxieties, and it worked. The discovery went on to the weighted blankets I was discussing several weeks ago, then back to animals with the thundershirt.
