Darn. I probably cannot do it.
I'm getting this too often now
image-jpg.454622

Yep. It's a hardware error. Taking the pc to the shop in the morning, and my iPad doesn't seem to like hangouts.
Hope you get it straightened out quickly and at a reasonable price, Ken.

I had quite a time with the chkdsk (check disk) we talked about in the Hangout. After it continued to be stuck on 10% an hour and half into the process, I tried a number of times to shut it down, but it is absolutely impossible to make the computer boot back into Windows 8.1. Instead, it just starts the chkdsk again and there is NOTHING that can be done to stop it.

So I did a lot of reading and saw that a lot of people had been through the same thing with Windows 8.1, and often had to wait 24 hours or even more before the chkdsk process would complete, and even knowledgeable computer people had no success in getting Windows to boot until the process had completed. So, I decided to be patient and let it go. About 3 hours and 10 minutes later (I was staring mindlessly at the screen at the time) the display suddenly changed from 10% to "error checking complete", then "repairing errors" and boom! I was back in business again.

After reading and responding to about 17 pages last night, I found one more quote I had marked but forgotten to use:

I'm sorry you didn't get to come home early like you wanted. But, the hot spot thing sounds great! Do you have unlimited minutes or, at least a lot of minutes to work with?

Looking forward to seeing a lot more of you!

OK. I woke the family up for work and school. Time to go back to sleep now. Good morning, all!

Yeah well, ya can't go home early ALL the time.......the guys left early, but that's the breaks you know. I don't have unlimited data, but I wasn't on long enough to use what I have. I checked it when I came home and still have plenty left. Shucks, my phone hot spot had hella better Intenet speed that the crappy Wi Fi we were using at work anyway. I just have to watch myself and not get carried away.

If a hen and a half lays an egg and a half in a day and a half, how many eggs will 4 such hens lay in 6 days?

I put our 2 feeders out about 2 weeks ago and this week they showed up. Looks like at least 2 pair. Wonder if they're the same ones I fed last year. I don't know if they come back to nest in the same place or not. Sure are pretty and fascinating to watch!

Speaking of which, I saw the strangest thing one of the last nights I was at work. Actually, I was back at the apartments. It had just finished storming, and the wind was pretty gusty. A hummingbird got smacked by the wind right into the wall of the apartments. He fell down and then flitted right back up and flew off.

Do you think you might be able to join the May 5th group hangout? We're planning on a group hangout from 7 to 10:30 PM on the 5th so we can put faces to names and just visit.

jup that would be great, but then I forget it. I remember that I did learn something new yesterday or the day before, cuz I remember typing that, but have no idea what it was that I learned. :(

Well then you can learn the same new thing every day. :w00t:

Do you think J-Wraps makes Camaro skins to fit a Honda CRV?

Sure, but I also don't think you can afford it!

Last time I tried being upside down I thought my head would explode. How do you keep from getting all purple in the face?

Just a minute or so inverted, then back upright. Lather, rinse, repeat...

Don't know, to be honest I've never tried it. Doree says I would need a chain fall or hoist to get back out of the inverted position anyway so I guess that's out.

If properly adjusted for height, you put your arms over your head to rotate inverted, put them to your sides to come back up. No chain fall required.

Another one...

Easy to see why pre-scientific societies would think the "gods" must be really, really po'd!

I'm glad it worked for you... Did you test the shutdown and restart?

Can somebody post the link for the Hangout again. I should be able to be there.
Google hangouts login is here

OK, if we're gonna do a mass porch Google gathering, how 'bout on 5/5/15 'round post-supper time, say 'bout 7:55 - 10:55 EST. Gotta get our PST 'rockers' into dis.

TBH, I'm a total n00b wid da vid capability we have access to. But, I'll gladly remove my 'puter' camera 'mask' in order to repeat my first experience wid BB! Actually, it's a hoot.

Keep in mind, chances are dat dis is da closest we'll ever to be able to experience a 'face-to-face' gathering due to mileage! It's ever so easy to be entranced by porch words. But I've never been disappointed with da 'face-to-face' contacts! For some, hopefully many, just stop and think of receiving a 'like', porch PM or email dat draws ya closer to our 'family . Da rewards and appreciation is uncalculable. Dis would be a daring and rewarding next step fer da reluctant!

Please don't be concerned 'bout appearance! Our genre is quite knowledgeable of our age and yesteryears. But to 'share' is priceless!

OK, who's in...?
Sounds great! But, I'm not sure about my sound. I've been in a couple of the REO hangouts, and everyone says they have a hard time hearing me.

If I'm remembering correctly, the only situation that would cause the faulty restart was when Windows would conduct its own shut down and restart independent of any action from me. Until that situation occurs again I cannot manually duplicate the scenario.

Operator-induced restart is working fine now, but I THINK it may have not been a problem previously.

Um... just a reminder that there's a death toll of over 6,600 and climbing and over 14,000 people injured lying behind those images. If there was ever a reason for prayers...
Are you talking about the pictures that Matt posted? If so, I believe Matt's pictures were from the volcano in Chile and I think you're referring to the earthquake in Nepal. Regardless, I think its a given that the PTB will process prayers seamlessly.
