Hi everyone - been missing in action the last few days. Even though I wasn't doing any of the kitchen re-modeling just seemed there where a lot of last minute things to do around here as the contractor was finishing up. He completed right on time Friday, end of the day. It looks wonderful - both Janet and I are are so happy and pleased with the contractors attention to detail and the great work he did. yeah- yeah, pictures to come but it's been raining and raining all day and I want to wait 'till there's some natural light coming through the windows before snapping some pictues.

Anyways - Janet's celebrating her new kitchen and our 45 wedding anniversary today by making her 1st full blown meal in the new kitchen. Told Randy, our contractor, the new kitchen he 'gave' us is a wonderful anniversary present.

edit: PS - I didn't have to buy Janet an gift this anniversary - she got a new kitchen instead. I got off cheap.

Wow, you call that kitchen cheap???????? You're going to be paying off this gift for a LONG time!

List of countries by intentional homicide rate - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Number 91.
Yet notice the countries above that compared to the countries below.

You gotta be careful when looking at "studies". Any study can and does find the results they're looking for. Also these stats are questionable -,
due to differences in how intentional homicide is defined and calculated for each country (and if they're even reported).
As an example of what I mean about reporting statistics: One of the frustrating aspects of our school district ranking as compared to other school districts was the fact that we allowed all students to take the tests that provided the statistics. Other districts disallowed anyone without a higher grade point average from taking the test. Also, I wouldn't trust that the government is telling the truth even if they didn't have lobbyists or other influences. They have their own agenda to support.

Hey Porchers...got this from my Sis, wanted to share it with you....

Medicare - Part G - Nursing Home Plan

Say you are an older senior citizen and can no longer take care of yourself and the government says there is no Nursing Home care available for you. So, what do you do?

You opt for Medicare Part G.

The plan gives anyone 75 or older a gun(Part G) and one bullet.

You are allowed to shoot one worthless politician.

This means you will be sent to prison for the rest of your life where you will receive three meals a day, a roof over your head, central heating and air conditioning, cable TV, a library, and all the Health Care you need.

Need new teeth? No problem.

Need glasses? That's great.

Need a hearing aid, new hip, knees, kidney, lungs, sex change, or heart? They are all covered!

As an added bonus, your kids can come and visit you at least as often as they do now!

And, who will be paying for all of this?

The same government that just told you they can't afford for you to go into a nursing home.

And you will get rid of a useless politicians while you are at it.

And now, because you are a prisoner, you don't have to pay anymore income taxes!

Is this a great country or what?

Now that you have solved your senior financial plan,

enjoy the rest of your week!=============

I can agree with the one bullet for a politician, but the rest is BS pure and simple. I don't know where some people get the idea that there is central heating and AC in prison. That's pure falsehood. Cable TV and all the health care you need? Another myth propagated by God knows who? You have to be damned near dead before they'll do anything for you, and sometimes they just let you die and say "Oh well"

Nope, you won't pay any more income taxes, but it's just not what people think it is. Sheesh

And your personal liberties, privacy, and self determination will be as good or better than the nursing home. And the staff will probably be just as caring and more helpful and attentive.

And if you believe that, I have an acre of swampland in Florida I can sell you.
