OHH... just thought of another question that occurred to me while watching the video... when you do the dry burning, you need to first make sure the vv is set to its lowest level, right?

Just keep it under 4 volts and you'll be fine.

I had the same thought and just ordered one of these for trying flavors: RDA - Rebuildable Dripping Atomizer with pre-installed coil | You have found your way to the home of the best Electronic Cigarette

For $8 I thought it would be perfect and it's reusable.
Those are great little dripper atomizers. Got a pair myself to learn how to rebuild on. You can find a few threads on them here, look for "smok squid." So called because the larger version was called the octopus after the factory built coil. Its got 6 (even if an octopus has 8 legs) pieces of silica wick sticking out of the coil. The smaller squid, the one you bought has 4. People like to enlarge the air hole in the soft aluminum cap. Personally I find it just the right size but I'm building coils for it at about 1.5 ohm not sub ohm.

I'm delighted to report that I got my original T3S tank cleaned out, the new coil put on the base, and everything put back together with ZERO issues. Now, I can get to the coil cleaning stuff.

I'm a little suspicious, frankly, of the coil in the new T3S I got yesterday -- that's the one that was leaking, and ever since that leak and cleanup, that clearo has had a slightly "off" taste -- not OMG THIS IS AWFUL like when the original one started tasting bad after a week's use, just.. not quite right. Since that one is brand new, what could the problem be, that might cause leaking and a slightly-off taste?

thx!

I've had some coils come with the flavor wicks not laid in right, and they leaked. So maybe pull the chimney and look at that. And even though it's tight, there could be a speck of something under the coil, in the head, that actually prevents a good seal.

Ok, thanks -- I'll have a look! I just thought it seemed rather odd that such a new clearo would have problems like this, when the other one gave me no issues at all until I got that bad taste. A week seems like too short a time for a coil to get that bad off, but I use it pretty much round the clock, so I guess it's not THAT short a time.

Anyway, since I'm going to be disassembling and doing all that stuff to the week-old coil, would similar treatment be appropriate for the newer one too? The taste really isn't that OMG!!! level of horrible, but I know what this juice tastes like now, and it just doesn't seem right, in that clearo I got yesterday; I thought that maybe since it's fairly new, I might not have to create a new wick for it, but just make sure the one that's in it is in the right place?

Sure it isn't what I call "vapors tongue"? I just went thru almost 2 days where they all tasted like blech. I have a few ego's, an mvp2 and an svd with different flavors and they all tasted rotten.

Prolly a day late & a dollar short......but

How to clean and replace the flavorwick in T3's

Items needed....
Peaches and Cream cotton yarn from WalMart fabric section
a small pair of scissors or fingernail clippers (sharp)
T3 heads

Remove the head from the tank/topper
Rinse the Tank in hot water and set aside

Remove the "chiminey" from the coil head
grab it firmly and wiggle and pull, it should come right off

Rinse the chiminey under hot water, slide rubber gasket up to clean
blow any excess water out of the gasket, it can hold quite a bit of water.

Rinse the head/wick under hot water, removing the flavor wick
not the coil, just the flavorwicks.
These can be reused, but i replace them with new

Dry head and coil.....this can be done many ways
I leave mine on the baseboard overnite
you can also blow dry them with canned air

after the coil heads are dry......place on your battery (lowest setting)
without the chiminey, and dry burn the coil
press on for 3...4 sec, release, repeat until coil glows nice and red, or until
coil does NOT smoke when you hit the power switch.
That means all the gunk has been burned off
and the coil is like brand new.

Peaches and Cream cotton from Wal Mart.
cut off a few 6inch pieces and boil for 10 minutes...let dry.
Some folks use it as is, I prefer to boil to remove the taste.
To me, it makes a huge difference, your taste may be different

Peaches & Cream comes in 4 strands, you only need 2 of them. So you will get double the
wick material from each 6" piece.....or 12 inches
Thats enough for 12 heads, so it is VERY economical

ok.... back to the heads.

Cut off a 1 inch piece of the cotton.....use 2 strands
( some folks use all 4, to me, it gurgles a lot with 4)

place the cotton over the coil in the slots provided, directly over the coils
replace the chiminey, slide the rubber gasket back in place
you can tap the chimney in gently with scissors or whatever you like
do not hit so hard you mushroom the top of the chimney
trim the wick back so it stiks out very little on both sides, about 1/8 of an inch

refill your tank, replace the head, place on your choice of battery and your good to go !!

Happy Vaping !!!

Ok, stuff from Walmart, might be fine for LATER but I ain't walking 3 miles to Walmart!!!!!!!!!! I HAVE NO VEHICLE RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!! MY HUSBAND IS AT WORK!!!!!!!!!

Anyway... I cannot get that chimney off BY ANY MEANS... fingers, needle nose pliers, it just doesn't move, it doesn't rock, and it sure doesn't come off. so I have no idea what to do now, and I've broken 2 nails trying to get that little sucker off there.

*sigh*

Ok, I cut off the nails of my left hand so I could get a good grip on the whole thing... it's so tiny I can barely hold it... but I just can't seem to hold it tightly enough, without it cutting into my flesh, to be able to do anything with the needle nose to pull that chimney off. It just doesn't move.

I'm forced to the conclusion that this was never meant to be a thing that a woman could do; I'm just not strong enough, the bottom of the coil cuts into my flesh on the fingers of my left hand, and I'm afraid to pinch too hard with the needle nose lest I completely destroy the chimney.

Maybe my husband could get it off, but he's so strong, he'd surely destroy the chimney when he clamps the needle nose onto it.

*sigh*

I finally got it off... I used the base of the one I got yesterday so I'd have sometjhing better to hold onto... and here's the thing... even the *flavor wick* looks nearly brand new.... in the middle, where the one on the video was black, this one is WHITE! There's a tiny bit od darkness on the ends... so far I haven't taken the flavor wick off because it almost seems that I don't need to? maybe it just needed rinsing out??

Andria

ok. I lifted off the flavor wick, and I can see wick running thru the coil... and it's all white!!! So do I really need to do the dry burning thing?

Ok... that is so weird!!!

Oh, and I think I figured out why the newer one was leaking yesterday. On the base itself there are two of those little rubber gaskets... a large one right around the bottom, and a smaller one that should fit flat, just below where the coil screws in... but it doesn't sit flat... I keep pressing it back down and it pops right back up... anything I can do about that?

Woo Hoo! You are doing great.

If someone had told me 6 months ago I would be smoke free for 3 months today, I'd have fallen over in hysterics!

Myrany - sorry you feel so bad. Allergies are the pits! Would vaping some menthol do any good?
ncpatches - woot! Big congrats! Great milestone reached, get yourself something shiny

Hon, I got so much 'shiney' on the way, I may need to break out the shades!:2cool: I need to check the mail....

Should be fine. Were you doing this because it tasted bad? Your taste buds may be changing and there wasn't anything wrong with the juice. It'll be a bit of a battle for a few months with the taste buds or so I've heard. I'm actually starting to taste stuff.:p

Same here, if someone had told me a month ago that today I'd be 8 days without a cigarette!

It was almost at the bottom, where it starts the gurgling, of what had been a nearly full tank... so maybe it was just burned, there at the bottom?

Speaking of cigarettes, and vapor tongue... all this frustration, so I'm sure y'all can imagine how I was feeling... ;) First really bad craving I've had all week. So, I got the eRoll, put in a little kringle's curse and a little of the geneva cocoa, and started vaping that like a fiend... yeah, a nicotine fiend! :D The cigalike held the craving at bay, and the diffrent taste should help any dislocation with my tastebuds.

BUT I DIDN'T SMOKE!!!

:rickroll:

So anyway... the coil I was operating on, I had mounted on the base of the newer t3s... put it on the iTaste, and it tastes fine now... so I think it must have just been the bottom of the tankful had gotten burned.

At least now I know how to take the sillyass things apart!!! :D

AND I DIDN'T SMOKE!!! HIGH-FIVE!!!

So I checked the mail and vape mail delivery has started!! WOOHOO!!

Funny, the last 2 items I ordered were the first 2 items delivered! Go figure!

So I got the Kanthal and I got my last minute impulse buy....a Lava Tube for $10, shipped! From Liberty Flights. Don't know how well a $10 mod will hold up, but figured it would be good for a back up.:)
