Sorry - someone was talking about peaches and cream cotton yarn and I can't remember who....

I bought some. This gives the nice hit without the cotton taste? I got the "ecru" (which I'm hoping isn't dyed, lol). So just boil some up. How many strands did you use for a wick? I usually take out one of the flavour wicks in my coils, so is one strand equal to one wick?.... Thank you!

Dave and Iowa gave some good pointers. My rule of thumb depending on the coil I.D. is the cotton should go through easily, not loose. Then when it aborbs the juice and expands it swells to make a nice fit in the coil.

I am debating my vapeversary presie as that is coming up soon....hehehehehe

I really liked getting my 1st one, then was even happier to get a backup, the 3rd one just added to the happiness.

you do know there's a Woodvil sale coming up in a few weeks, right?

then, there's this

:)

I just ran across those a couple weeks ago very nice work and so nice looking.

Well, much as it pains me to admit it, I have to confess to being a somewhat "older folk" -- 53, this coming May. I've smoked since just before I turned 14, in 1975, and have tried about 4 times to quit, since about 1984, when I was 23 -- so smoked for nearly 39 yrs now, and have been trying to quit for just about 30 of those 39. Frankly I had about given up hope of ever being able to quit, though I've managed, in the last 16 yrs, to go from 3+ pks a day, to, right now, about a half-pack a day.

A couple months ago, a friend of my husband's gave me a "fin" e-cig; I thought it was an excellent idea, poorly executed -- tasted like pipe tobacco to me. Then, just before this past xmas, I bought an "Njoy," in the light (gold) version. Was more pleased with it; the size, shape and feel were just about right, and the throat hit was amazing -- but it tasted like eucalyptus, more Hall's cough drop than cigarette. So, then I bought a Blu, which against tasted like pipe tobacco, but was the most expensive disposable e-cig at my local Walgreen's. So about 2 wks ago I came to my computer and typed "e-cigarettes" into Google, and found this place; last Saturday I got an "eRoll"; I really like the size, shape, and general look/feel/operation of the thing; I got the silver one, because it looks nothing like a real cigarette, so some imbecile won't be telling me, hey, you can't smoke here -- to which I would have to reply, seen a lot of silver cigarettes with blue fire, have you?

This past week has been challenging; 18mg was WAYYYYY too strong; 12mg seemed ok at first, but later made me very ill. So now I have to get some juice in 6mg, and something NOT tobacco, because the smell of the tobacco e-juice and e-vapor just kinda grosses me out. I don't smoke that much anymore, and I think I'm already starting to smell how foul they really are, and smelling the "e-juice" kind is really awful to me. So I'm going to get some strong peppermint and hot cinnamon, and see if those might not substitute very well for a "throat hit." I guess I figure, if I'm going to leave cigarettes behind, why drag the smell of 'em with me? :)

So that's where I've gotten to, in 1 wk of attempted vaping. At least my consumption of cigarettes has gone down, since I've been involved in this, and there is hope that it will continue decreasing until I finally just ask, why bother? Vaping is how I intend to become a MUCH "older folk", instead of dying too young with some horrible lung disease, as my father did.

:)
Andria

Andria - welcome to the porch and thanks for sharing you story. Stick around with us an before you know it, you'll be smoke free and one of the old-timers of vaping. I smoked for 45 years and gave up trying to find the will power to quit - then a couple years ago my wife and I got into vaping and it's been such a life changer to say nothing of all the good folks we've met here at ECF.

First off, welcome to da open embrace of da folk on dis porch!

Second, no need to confess, just profess! It's quite amusing to moi, now I'm an ol' fart, that even some younglins will give an ear.

As to your nic level, take your time and be willing to adjust as need be. Don't rush yourself; listen to your body!

BTW, at your stage o' vapin', findin' a fav flav is/will be your biggest challenge and reward. Just try to find at least two... or three.. or... Gotta keep dose ol' t-buds happy and occasionally pleasantly surprised.

Lastly, welcome to da porch! Please get comfy and hang 'round a while. You'll get more support here than Dolly Parton's 'headliners'...

Yippie - vape mail today - the best kind - it was free. I won a contest in a co-op thread and these pieces showed up today.

When assembled it one of those FT Taifun GT clones. It's my 1st Chinese clone, I try to stay away from clones. I must say the build quality and threading and stuff are pretty darn good. I did have to laugh that they even cloned the packaging down to printing "Made in Germany" on the box.

Iffy - I gave another shot at the Nextel XC-116 and it's working well, like in my R91 (not a clone). That's a 28g Kanthal wrapped to 1.6Ω.

It is quite a bit bigger than the Russian 91 and doesn't have air control - but it vapes pretty nice. It's a loose draw, kind of reminds me of the ZAPs/ZAUs but not that loose. I'm enjoying it tonight.

ps: Uncle Willie - you may not be able to read the writing on the glass, it says
.... Jesse C. Gamble
.... Jack Daniel Distillery
.... Master Distiller
.... 1964-1966
oh yea - that's some Honey Jack in the glass :toast:

Naw. If my Vamo were to have a fatal accident, I could order this:
DV eGo Twist - 900mah - Blue to tide me over until a replacement mod from fastech would arrive. I already have an elderly eGo as backup. I NEED nothing-- unless I were to find a Davide mini on sale.

Well, you DO need to have enough back-ups...

I am debating my vapeversary presie as that is coming up soon....hehehehehe

Oh, not to worry, it will probably get longer before your order comes in!! Just wait to see what's on it for your next vapeverrsary! By-the-way, didn't Iffy order a Sophia? Hmmmm????

Oh damn the temptations.... do I need another battery, or do I need a pair of sensible pumps for work.... (not that I've ever been overly sensible, lol)...

Oh who sees the sensible pumps anyway? What fun is that? They can't produce beautiful, tasty clouds!

you do know there's a Woodvil sale coming up in a few weeks, right?

then, there's this

:)
Wow! Those are beautiful!! Love the red one but I know nothing about that kind of gear. My interest is sparked though! I love wood and all the beautiful nuances of color.

Welcome Andria!! Glad you found us! Sounds like you're doing great! And no you're not old - don't you know that fine wine get better with age? Well, most people are better than wine! We've got plenty of extra rockers!

Maybe you need to try some fruit flavors. Some of us have been shocked to find that we didn't want tobacco flavors. Some because they didn't want the reminder and some just because we were surprised to like them. Your taste will change as you get away from the cigs too so be adventurous. You might be surprised to like flavors you never thought you'd like. If you have a vape shop near you, they often have tasting bars where you can try flavors. Let us know how you make out.

Thanks, y'all... I have to say, it's nice to be around folks who a) understand how hard it can be to get off the stupid smokes, and b) don't say stupid things like 'well, just QUIT!'... like I haven't tried THAT before! :D My mom gives me that one all the time, like she didn't almost snuff herself with cigarettes before her COPD just flat out COMMANDED her: give up cigarettes or give up breathing!

I can see that my tastes ARE changing: when I first got here, I was all "no it's got to be TOBACCO!" but after having smelled and tasted tobacco vape, all I can say is UGH! So I thought of the peppermint and cinnamon, love both of those dearly -- and today, someone gave me a link to a cinnamon ejuice that WON'T melt the plastic cartridge of my eRoll, and I saw another that I found very interesting: Juicy Fruit! Just like the gum that my teeth demanded I give up years ago! Now I can enjoy that flavor again, and that just tickles me: lose the cigarettes, and regain Juicy Fruit! :D

Delighted to find that maybe I CAN quit smoking after all... :2cool:

Yepper. But da Aspire Nautilus has kinda distracted me up to dis point.

I intend to give a Sophia review here after I give her a night or two out on da town. And yes, I do vape n' tell...

I signed up for the interest group in co-ops that is ordering Nautilus. After I found out a couple of things about them I withdrew. Too much for me to handle!

Thought I'd check in with status...
Went to my friendly B&M with my 'bad/stripped' Nimbus clone RDA.
It worked fine on 3 of their mods, so they swapped out the top section of my K101 mod!
"here you go, that will work better now" - gratis

I did buy some juice and will probably pick up another clone mod in a day or so.
It is really silly that I only have one mech mod. I do have my first Igo as a backup but.... I think I heard it call me by name.
As for the store, I'm in there all the time. The folks are great
and this was another example of their fine customer service.

Well the RDA is tasting a little dry - time for a reload!

They will keep changing for a couple of months.
You might try buying some "sample packs"
Thet way you get 5-6 small bottles for about the same price as buying a big one.
Lot's of flavors to try.
And .. anything you don't like, ditch in the back of the cupboard.
A month or two from now, between your taste buds waking up, and the juice getting a chance to "steep", you may love it.
So .. don't throw anything away right now.

Welcome to the porch.

Weeeelllll.... It was really hard for me to give up smoking... Before my first epipe came in. Haven't smoked since. So, while I don't really UNDERSTAND point "a", But I DO appreciate it. Too many people on the forums that still smoke a bit after years of vaping for me to NOT appreciate it. :)
Point "b" I think you have dead on. Even those of us lucky enough to stop smoking quickly didn't have much of a chance simply quitting.
For many of us, we could have if we wanted to, but didn't want to. I found a REPLACEMENT for smoking, and I'm gonna stick with it!

Not only your tastes, but your taste buds will continue to change. I think it took me about 8 months to get full taste back, and that changed what I do and do not like.
Like Slots said. Be prepared to suddenly like later what you don't like today. Although, I recommend putting them in a dark bag in the refrigerator rather than a dark shelf :)

And yes.. You CAN!!! :D

I think I have finally made friends with my Diver v2.

I recoiled it with cotton this time and aligned the slot in the bottom pin with the channels on the side. No more cycles of dry hits followed by gurgling followed by leaking out the center pin.

Yep I did a big facepalm when I realized how stupidly simple the fix was.

Yay and welcome!!!! Keep at it. It IS TOTALLY do-able... There can be a learning curve (and even some changes in taste preference) but just look how many of us older folks on here have managed to make the switch after years and years of smoking! One day at a time, one vape at a time, and soon you'll be sitting by your mailbox waiting for vape-mail too!!!

Has anyone read this?

Nicotine and Health

It looks interesting but I have to print it out first (reading that much on the computer gets too much for the eyes, lol)...

It's a pretty long document so , although I do want to read it, it's going to have to be in increments. Looks pretty thorough. Thanks.
