Mike, Did you order one of the hana boxes. I think they are all gone now. When I ordered mine they had red, blue and silver. Just saw a post that said all they have left is blue. Damn, bargains don't last long around here.

Sent while presently sitting on my .... watching mind numbing prattle on the TV. 257 Channels and nothing on.

I put 2 blues in my cart - but couldn't check out. Then when I went back to the product page it was showing blue OOS. opps!

Well I ordered the Istick. I suppose that after spending for a month I now need to declare my vapeversary done. ;) Only one fancy VV v3, one Nautilus, two Davides and an Istick later.

But you could begin shopping early for your 'next' vapeversary.

Guess I missed the link to the $24 Istick, or was it posted. If someone is selling them for that, they are probably out anyway, lol. Walking all around town with a Spinner and Davide in your pocket, as it turns out, is not the way to go. Anybody got a link to one that's under $35?

Noticed that. ECF doing it's thing again?

I've noticed it starting to happen again a little bit. Now that you've posted that, Sloth's going to know it's not his computer messing with him. Why does it never double post when someone puts up a fantastic picture?

I went for 26 gauge wire after going through a few options on the wrapping engine it seems the most comfortable for what I would like to build.

Though not sure on leg length total - Total length of the resistance wires between coil and contact points.
Is that the length of the wire from one post to the next ? Is it measure when the wire is straight or coiled ?
Is it measuring the wire from one post to where the first wrap in the coil is ?
seems to change things when you change its number on the wrapping engine.
Use this one called steam engine.
Don't have the atomiser yet so don't know the lengths.

1.5, 2.0, & 2.5mm (1/16", 5/64", 3/32") are probably the most common sizes for Kayfun coils. And yes, the leg length is; the length of the wire from the coil wrap to the post.

Hi Wolfenstark,

26ga is a little on the thick side for a Kayfun, but it should work OK. When you're using Steam Engine, use around 10mm for the total leg length. It's not really that crucial to get an exact number, because small differences in resistance won't make a huge difference in the vaping experience, and also you're not entirely sure at this point what you're going to like the most. Usually, I'd shoot for around 1.5 Ohms to start. However, with 26ga, that's around 14 wraps at 2mm. That's a pretty large coil. It will definitely fit, and it should produce a fair amount of vapor, but it will take a long time for the coil to heat up. I think I'd start with 11 wraps at 2mm, which would work out to around 1.2 Ohms. It also depends a little on your power source. What kind of battery/mod will you be using? Is it a mech mod, or does it have variable voltage/variable wattage, and if so, do you know the limits?

Adding to the pot... :)

I wind my KFs to 2 mm, although bigger would work. There's a fair amount of room inside the concentrator cup. But not sure if bigger than 3 mm would give adequate clearance. Although I tend to 30, sometimes 28. I like the way 30 heats and cools quicker than the bigger wire. Might be good to get a little of a couple gauges and see which "action" you prefer.

Mike already got the length in question, from the end of the coil to the screw.

It's VERY important to take it apart and thoroughly wash all parts before use. (Although you don't need to unscrew / remove the positive terminal block. But if you do, make sure when you put it back that it doesn't turn and contact the negative block. That will produce a dead short.) There's usually machining oils left, and they taste really bad!

Thanks MikeE3 , MattB101. DavidOck

Hi PapaSloth , Yes I was doing the sums in the website and seemed to be the 26 would suit most needs well that being resistance target. Other names like heat flux and leg power loss started to climb when I changed gauges but sticking to the resistance and diameter.
Was hoping to try and work around 2 - 3 mm diameter.

I am waiting for one of these provari p3 to come out - Well actually an Australian site has a preorder $285 our money about $248 USA. They say ships from USA November 7 then it has to get to east coast Australia and then they send it out. Im going to wait and see what its selling for in the USA first.

Anyway I just noticed this today but the other day I thought ok If Im buying one of those then In the meantime I'll get a clone mod .
So i ordered a hana Dna30 mod clone by cloupor said updated chip , reviews vary but mostly good. Box mod that holds one 18650 battery and said to go to 30watts.
I ordered some aw 18650 2000mah batteries.
Wolf;
Whether a piece of wire is straight or wrapped into a coil, the resistance is the same. Changing the size of loops does not change the resistance. The only thing that changes the resistance of a given gauge of wire is changing the length of the wire. If the calculator you're using shows an increase in resistance when larger loops are used, it's because it takes more wire to make 6 loops at 3mm diameter than it does to make 6 loops at 2mm diameter.

The "legs" are the straight ends of the piece of wire you use, measured from where the wire is no longer in a coil shape to where the wire makes contact with the posts of your atomizer. The distance between the positive post and negative post of your atomizer is not relevant to those measurements.

I waited for the experts to chime in before I responded, and quoted their posts, to make sure I wasn't giving any misinformation. I'm just telling you the same things that they were, but in different words.

You probably know this already, but the term "sub-ohming" generally is used to mean a coil that has less than 1.0 ohms of resistance. Cloud chasers might say that a coil needs to be WAY under 1.0 ohms to qualify as a sub-ohm coil, but they tend to be a little nuts. :vapor: For me personally, sub-ohming is anything less than 1.5 ohms.

After you said that a dealer in Australia was accepting pre-orders for the Provari V3, I just had to go check it out. I'm guessing this is the place you're talking about: Steam-e-cigs | ProVari P3 Preorder - ProVari + accessories - Products

Congrats on the Cloupor DNA30. I love mine (both of them).

Software problems. Probably different code used when posting pics.

I read a post about someone doing a group buy to get a price around that. I don't remember where from or if she said where. :)

The ECF co-op ended and a couple-few weeks ago VaporTek (I think) had a deal with a good price if you bought 10 of 'em. Other than that I haven't heard of other group buys.

There is a reason I haven't gotten verified. It's way cheaper not to be. I'd be spending so much money on there. Hurts to even think about it.

Black is nice but makes me squirm about what might happen in the California sun if I set it down and forgot about even for a short time. When I pluck up the courage, I'll go for the silver I think. Maybe spruce it up with an Angry Bird sticker.

That sounds like what I was reading about. She didn't mention a co-op, but did mention the 10. :)
