So, does it make any sense to anyone here that the Davide would have a break in period? I just got two more to bring me to a total of four. When I got my second one I had problems with dry hits when I first got it, that went away after a couple of dissembling/cleaning/reassembling rounds. I figured it was a random quirk. Now I'm having the same issue with the new ones.

When they arrived I took out the adapter ring for dual coil use, cleaned them, put single coils in (from the same batch I'm using in my others), and started using them. Dry hit city. So I used them very carefully until refill time, went through the cleaning routine, and now one is fine but the other one is still having problems.

This makes no sense. They are very simple devices, with the air feed coming in a small hole in the 510 connector and two slots across the base to get the air to that. The only possibility I can see is that, while staring at the air flow hole there is what might be a tiny bit of silicone or something at the top edge of the 510 threads. I thought at first it might even be yet another of Anyvape's dreaded itty bitty o-rings, but it is not.

Any idea from those of a mechanical bent on why this would happen? Especially on such a simple, non-adjustable item? Especially when it goes away after some use? The only thing I can think of is that for some reason the o-rings need to compress a little, but I do try not to squish (technical term) things together too hard.

I've found that there IS a way to get joose in the mouth with a properly functioning Nautilus and BVC.

It happens when I use my big-mouthed Delrin drip tip. I changed coils just to make sure, and it happens with the second coil as well. I've gone back to a normal-sized drip tip which now feels about as big as one of those tiny plastic straws that are used as coffee-stirrers, but the vape is the way it's sposta with no unvaporized liquid coming up into my mouth.

I get this lately and it's on the younguns to the elderly ones. My theory, it's the coils. We had that long run of bad Kanger coils and now it seems a lot of them have too much flavor wick in them. Chronic chain vapor here and I've learned to take a couple of dry hits (not press button) every now and then. The coil I'm using now a pulled a "thread" or two of flavor wick out and it works well. The previous one I pulled 3 or 4 teeny threads out and it worked perfectly for a while then flooded constantly. The dry hits off these coils are just nasty, make the old burnt dry hits off the bad coils batches seem like heaven.

Might an angled drip tip adapter like this help Chrome Angled 510 Drip Tip Adapter It helped a lot for me with this problem. I'm a pansy about it since I almost always wind up with a canker or cold sore when I get juice in/on my mouth.

ETA There are several finishes to choose from and I think Kidney Puncher has one on ss.

EETA? Yep, here it is http://www.kidneypuncher.com/stainless-steel-drip-tip-angle-adapter/

You're correct about that. VV controls wattage (and voltage). VW controls voltage (and wattage).

Seems that few vapers are neutral when it comes to using "analogs" as a synonym for cigarettes. I think the term is really clever, and I like it. The term I don't like is "stinkies". I don't hate cigarettes or smokers and I feel that if I use that term I'm looking down on people who still smoke.

It is a clever term. I'd probably be less adverse to it if I'd come to ECF in 2009 when vaping was sort of a subculture, instead of now when we're fighting to keep it as a legitimate, primarily unregulated smoking cessation product. I don't mind "stinkies" or "cancer sticks" but have come to realize that many people who still have a cig or two are offended, mostly by "cancer sticks," and I guess I can't blame them.

Do you have one of the ones from Kidney Puncher, and does it fit nice and tight? I'm hesitant for two reasons: 1) each of the 5 delrin tips I've purchased from them is WAY too loose, and 2) the thought of having a drip tip assembly that can pull out in TWO places.

Edit: I see you gave a link for one at MadVapes too. For some reason the MadVapes page is not loading although the Kidney Puncher page loads just fine.

Edit again: MadVapes finally loaded. Ordered one from them. Cheaper, and better chance it will fit than buying from KP. Plus, I had "reward points" from previous MadVapes purchases that covered the cost of the adapter. I only had to pay shipping.

I am having similar problems with my full Nautiluses. After try a FEW tests, I noticed that I get more gurgling when the tank is less than half full. I am still testing...

I have noticed more gurgling when the juice level gets low. These days I just turn it to a larger air hole have a vape or turn it upside down and fire it or fire it and blow through the air hole. Thats gets rid of the gurgles.

I didn't see the ones at Kidney Puncher until after I ordered a bunch of the others from MadVapes. They're on my "must buy when we have much money" list.

I had one angle come with a too thin 0-ring but the others have been fine. Have to push them in there rather firmly. Use them on the Davides on a ProVari and none, except that one, has popped out. I can lift the ProVari by the angle and it doesn't slip out. YMMV. I also go through a lot of Q-tips swabbing out the drip tip but haven't had the juice spit up into my mouth since using them. Condensation does when I get a little too enthusiastic.

MadVapes seems to be loading very, very slowly but the link did eventually work. Guess they are having problems or everyone is looking at angled tips right now.

ETA Sorry, it's loading a blank page. Refreshed the link that was already up and it eventually worked.

It's loading now :)

Just dabbling at the moment. Working out how to use it and the technique is a bit different. First few tries I nearly choked myself.

LOVED smoking and had NO desire to quit. But got a link from a non-vaping friend for a Starter Kit (which I thought I would only use in restaurants, etc.) When it arrived I filled it with joose...took a hit similar to my analogs...and coughed a lung out!!!

Hadn't yet run across ECF...so went to YouTube and checked out some PBusardo and IndoorSmokers videos just to see how they vaped.

Saw that they would draw in a hit (like through a straw) in their mouth...then kinda' swallow...then blow out the vape through their nose. (The "particles" in the vape are too big to carry the nicotine into your lungs and MOST of out nicotine receptors are in the nasal membranes.)

Once I did that a couple times I was OK. (I was a 2 PPD smoker and found 12mg. joose was good for me.)

["End of story"...I put my Starter Kit next to my pack of cigarettes and every time since then {now over a year} that I've wanted to inhale some smoke, exhale some smoke and get a hit of nicotine...I've used my e-cigarette.]

See I thought if your reg mod was v w then the circuitry took care of the voltage depending on your resistance and if it was a v v it took care of the wattage.

Already have a number of GREAT answers posted by the smart people here...only want to add...

Me...because I'm LAZY...I only use VW...

VV...change to topper with different Ω's...have to readjust Voltage setting (or go to Ohm's Chart) to get same sweet spot

VW...change to topper with different Ω's...leave Wattage on same setting (since it will automatically adjust for new volts needed for new Ω's)

I still have to fiddle with the settings when I change coils just a little and the sweet spot is a lot easier to find. Variable wattage was one of the greatest things to hit vaping. I was using an Ego Twist and was just starting to look at moving up when the VAMO came out. I still have a couple of VAMOs that I can still use if needed. I even have a couple of Ego Twist batteries that, as far as I know, still work along with a suitcase of clearomizers and Vivi Novas. Anybody here still using a Vivi Nova at all?

This fine print is a not so subtle reminder to always read the fine print before signing anything.

Of the denigrating terms for cigarettes the only one that I've ever used is the old "coffin nails".

That's a good one. Never used it, I don't think, but give a knowing nod when I read it. So wish vaping had been around 40-50 years ago. Imagine the lives it would have saved.

It could just be that the larger drip tip has more area for condensation. Just pop it off and blow it into a tissue and stick it back on. I'd probably do that if I really liked the larger dt. Annoying, but it would only take a second to fix.

I call them stinkies, but it's simply because they stink. I used to stink-badly. Didn't realize how badly I stunk until I stopped and my smeller recovered. It's not so much the smell while smoking, it's the smell that's left behind. Cigarettes leave a nasty smell behind that clings to everything and, well, it stinks. I've never felt I was looking down on anyone, but that's just me. I couldn't ever look down on a smoker because I was one for a very long time. The only thing I feel toward smokers is wishing they could know how great vaping is instead. I'd never even think to tell them to stop smoking.

Analogs has always sounded like a strange term to me though because it sounds like it's a number, or a machine. Kind of reminds me of years ago when I was doing a newsletter and Mike brought me home a word processor. OK, where is the thing? Here, on this disk. Really? But word processor sounds like it would be a machine, like a typewriter. Good grief, that was so long ago. Now really feel old!!

Digital electronics are circuits where different voltage levels are separated into discrete steps, usually on and off (0 or 1). The important part is that one range of voltages is lumped together into one value, and other ranges of values are lumped together into other values. That's where the "digits" part of "digital" comes from. So, for example, if you had a circuit where everything between 0V and .25V was lumped together to mean 0, everything over .25 but less than .5V would mean 1, everything over .5V but less than .75V meant 2, and everything over .75V meant 3, then you'd have a digital circuit.

Analog circuits are where the value of the voltage can vary continuously over a given range. It could be 3.14159265... or 3.2, or 2.7182814... or 2.75, or whatever value. Each of the infinite possible values is different from the other possible values. When you turn the volume knob, and the music gets louder and louder steadily, that's an analog circuit. When you press the volume up button and the volume gets a fixed step louder for each button press, that's a digital circuit.

So, what does any of this have to do with cigarette smoking? Attaching a coil to a battery, where the voltage of the battery and the resistance of the coil causes the coil to heat up, and deliver the heat to a wick is not an example of what I would call a digital circuit. The voltage is continuously variable in the circuit and affects the output. There are no "digits" or ranges of values with a fixed meaning, so it is not digital. If I had to call it something, I would call it analog. On the other hand, if you have a computer controlled regulated device, then you might actually have something you could call "digital." Either way, cigarette smoking has absolutely nothing to do with analog circuits, and the only reason that calling cigarettes "analog" even vaguely makes sense, is to contrast it with so-called "digital" smoking. But, it's not digital, and it's not smoking, so the whole thing is just plain silly in my opinion, and makes no sense at all.

I think calling them stinkies could hurt someone's feelings, but I did happen to walk past one of my students in class yesterday, and it was OBVIOUS that he was a smoker (I didn't actually know he was a smoker until then). So, there you go.

You may find this difficult to believe, but it's OK with me if you call it anything you want, as long as I understand what you're talking about :) But, when I write, I usually don't use the terms "analog," "digital," or "stinkies." I usually refer to "cigarettes," "atomizers," "batteries," "mods," and so on. Some of these terms are pretty arguable as well (like most mods now-a-days aren't really mods, in the original sense). I suppose I should say vaporizers instead of atomizers, or something, but atty is short and easy to type.

LOVED smoking and had NO desire to quit.

That was me! I bought a house and shortly after I moved in, the neighbor's dogs tried to attack me. I used to go out to my carport to smoke, but the dogs would come right up to me, barking and growling. I locked myself in the storage room several times, paralyzed with fear (I witnessed my brother getting attacked by a doberman when I was 9). I called the sheriff and complained to the HOA. What's a girl to do? Quit smoking! After smoking for over 30 years, vaping was the only thing that helped me quit! Eight months, stinky free! Oh...and the neighbors finally got tired of the sheriff showing up at their door, so they moved! Now I can sit on the front porch with a glass of wine, vape away and watch the sunset!

I didn't think that would work, but I went ahead and tried. It doesn't work.

The juice is coming directly through the chimney with each draw, due, I think, to the fact that I pull more volume with the wide drip tip. I can alleviate the problem by using the smallest intake air hole on the Nautilus, but that's not an acceptable fix to me. I'd rather use a normal drip tip, and the vape is excellent with that.

What's funny is that it took me a day to figure out that my vape wasn't all that pleasing for some reason, another day to figure out that it was because I was taking joose into my mouth, and another day to figure out a solution.

I did a further experiment which validated my theory. I pulled really hard using the normal drip tip, and I was able to pull joose into my mouth. There's no chance of me ever pulling that hard by accident.
