Never trust anyone over 30! Or, I guess in this case, anyone pushing 30.

Ever since I learned that Jerry Rubin was 31 when he said that, I've
granted some leeway on the number. 12.5 watts wasn't quite enough for the Absinthe joose in my nautilus/BVC.
Continued to 13.8 and pretty good for the moment! Contrary to my initial evaluation I just might want to order some more of this TFA flavoring.

I think I've had my vaping epiphany - the need to simplify.

I'm washing and putting away everything except the 3D dripper, three Protank 2's and my three "best" mech mod clones and 18650 batts... gonna mix one large batch of eliquid of one flavor, make a handful of 1.8Ω rayon BCC micro-coils, and call it good. Every morning, just fill and put in fresh batts. and go on about my business.

I've just been spending too much time and money on vaping and vape-related activities, and concentrating too much on keeping a PV on my person at all times, and a backup within easy reach... puffing away every time my hands weren't otherwise busy. Spending too much time every morning tinkering with new/different or broken gear. Now I want to relegate vaping to the same as a pack of cigarettes. Leave a current PV on the dresser, car console, golf cart pocket, out of the way on the shop table... same places I used to leave my smokes while doing something. Then just take an occasional "smoke break", just like I used to do with cigs.

Things I've put away:

Nautilus and BVC coils. I just got this a couple of weeks ago, and still haven't warmed up to it. Left it sitting for ~a day, picked it up and it gurgled... that pretty much soured my attitude towards it. I don't need another system to have to conquer the problems of. [sic]

KFL+ v2 by EHPRO. I still don't understand the fascination for and widespread praise of this too-big, too-much-trouble-to-use behemoth. I see everyone saying "better flavor" but I don't get that with any of the different ways I've tried to build this thing, and any of half-dozen DIY flavors I've tried.

Rocket Cheap fasttech KFL+ wannabe. For me, this actually performed just as well as the EHPRO, and never leaked the whole time it was in use... it's just ugly as sin tho.

Davide This is a nice atty, and I'll probably use it some - in Kanger BCC mode... but it doesn't have anything over the PT2.

Aspire attys (3 various sizes) and BVC coils for them. Draws too stiff, can't rebuild 'em, period. nuff said.

sub par Mech Mods. Some of which are either unreliable or too much voltage drop to suit me, and I'm tired of fooling with 'em... except the #20's, they're salvageable.

I don't get anything from any of the above attys that I can't get cheaper and more easily from a customized Protank 2... the flavor is fine and performance (TH, clouds, etc.) is more than acceptable.

............... The car of my dreams at that time was a Triumph TR6 but I had to settle for the wrecked MGB...................

Me too, wanted a TR6 bad... never had one, but I had a beat-up old '64 TR4-A straight axle, my buddy later found a 4-A w/ IRS... his was almost "all there" but mine had been cannibalized and hacked to near death. I put bandaids from one end of that thing to the other just to get it running. The brakes and headlights worked, but that's about all. The ragtop was rotten so when it rained the seats got soaked. Probably pushed it off to crank it as many times as I actually got to use the key!

LUV'd that ol' sled!

Had a couple of those cars, MGBGT, my brother did a stint with a TR6, Fiat124Spyder, all fun, all work except the Fiat. Currently maintaining an 06 Mini Cooper, one of the last with the supercharger in it. My Dad was a sports car junkie and they came and went with frequency so the foibles of the breed were pretty well documented. My brothers moved on to Detroit muscle, and I did too, but came back to those Brit things, at least the wiring has improved some. Of course Mini is German Designed and Brit made, a double whammy. Should I be walking toward the Back Porch? :?:

Regarding plastic bottles for dispensing home-brew, I like the twist-tops. I didn't order any new ones but I loaded up my cart with a 24-pack of the 4-oz bottles to find out how much the shipping was. The shipping was almost $20 but still, it would be less than $1.50 per bottle with shipping included.
SKS Bottle & Packaging, Plastic Bottles By Color, Natural Plastic Bottles, Plastic Bottles, Natural LDPE Cylinders w/ Black/Natural Twist Top Caps

Bells - thanks for that link. One of our favorite places to get juice when we started gaping would used that type bottle. We still have 'em and re-use 'em for DIY now. Didn't know where to get anymore of them 'till your post came along.

While I find I do prefer my KFs, I also agree that the customized PTs provide a good - and simple - vape, when properly rebuilt. But I like my Davide's slightly more, also in bottom single coil mode, just because the hold slightly more :)

And leaving a "pack" everywhere you used to leave a pack... I think I'd have too hard a time keeping track of battery state  And since I'm still a flavor junkie, I'd be wandering around looking for the one that has the flavor I want at the moment... 'Course, I never used to leave my smokes lying around, always in my pocket - whether or not I wanted to actually smoke one at any given time was irrelevant - I HAD to have them on me...

And it all does come back to the critical point - having the setup / gear / routine that keeps us from smoking! :toast:

Never tried the Mini and don't intend to, but a person or two here has said that the Mini and full-sized are not directly comparable, I think.

I have 6 Nauts 3 of each, they are my back ups for when my hands get to the point I can't do the rebuilding. I am enjoying learning to build coils and such and hope I can do it for a long time. I haven't found either size Naut to be different with the BVC's in them. I always take one or each with me to work just incase I need them. Back ups for my KF's. I guess I have had good luck with them, but they seem to do well with little fuss for me. I never noticed any difference vaping them down to the bottom either. I do close the air control or cover it when I screw them down after filling. Have had very little gurgle from them that wasn't too much PITA to clear and they have been good not leaking. The Mini performed well ( for me) but I prefer the larger tank. Only issue I did have was the bottom pin rusted on one. but I got replacement parts from Aspire, so had that covered. For me the KF's once you invest in them are less expensive to run. When I see a sale on BVC's though, I get a another box. Got a pretty good stock. I know, good for me, right, but mine have worked well and will be there when the time comes. I don't mean to down play any problems folks are having, but mine have been good to me. Have to say I like my KayFun's better though for day to day. They are still fun for me.

Welcome all the new folks I have missed during the last couple weeks, glad to have you aboard!

My new guy got here too: walking' the dogs, dogs are off running:laugh:

Dang that's a nice setup. :toast:

Don't know if I'm jealous over the setup or that your trees still have green leaves. - been 'working' all the falling leaves around here for the last week.

I see half a Mini there, I think, but it's not a Nautilus. Is your new guy a Provari with the Tatroe end cap?

So, I've completely switched over to spaced coils instead of contact coils on my Big Buddhas (small amounts of space between each wrap instead of having each wrap right against the next wrap). It takes a little longer for the vapor to get going, but it's the same wattage, so it produces about the same amount of vapor, but at a lower temperature. That results in a better taste at the same wattage, in my opinion. I basically build the coils the same way, but then I stretch them out a little instead of trying to squeeze everything together so that the coil heats up from the inside out. Now I'm not sure why all of the tutorial videos on YouTube seem to be obsessed with building the "perfect" contact micro coil.

Similar thoughts, Papa. Seems to me that the more contact between coil and wick - aka spaced coil - the more liquid is in contact with the coil, so better vapor production.

I've tried both in my KFs, and prefer the spaced out ones as well. (Uh, maybe 'cause they fit the personality better?) Haven't noticed them taking longer to produce, but maybe that's because I generally use 30, so less mass...

Probably so. I'm also using triple-twisted 30 gauge Kanthal, which is the equivalent of about 26 gauge in mass, and running dual coils with 8 wraps each coil. So, that's a lot of mass, and the difference in heating time is noticeable. Probably about 6 times as much wire as you're using in your build.

Hi PapaSloth
I have been thinking of that , well
On the videos I see people using a blow torch to heat the coils and then squeeze them together. One guy I have seen he put it on the atty and fired it then squeezed them. I have all the items on their way but not a torch. Locally at a hardware store they are $30 and I was wondering do i need one ?
Unless i start making creme caramels and use one to heat the sugar on top It won't have much of a use other than heating coils.
First i have heard of space coils care to explain and is the heating and squeezing the coils so they all touch help function or just the look ?

My father-in-law highly recommends I get a flu vaccination. That sounds like a good idea, but my natural impulse is to resist, just because he suggested it :)

Well...unless (and until) the same virus strain ever reoccurs 2 years in a row...getting a "flu shot" doesn't seem to make a lot of sense.

This year's vaccination uses last year's virus strain as it's base. (And there's no "cross immunity".)

Been taking my two new iSticks on their 'maiden cruise' dis evening. Gotta luv da compact size and format!

Because I never wanted to carry my big, heavy (and somewhat "expensive") VV V3's, MVP2's and Vamo's with me...I always stuck a couple disposables (White Cloud Flings) in my pants pocket before heading out the door.

Now...I slip my iStick (with a Nauty-Mini) in my shirt pocket...and I'm ready for hours on the town. :headbang:

When I see a sale on BVC's though, I get a another box. Got a pretty good stock.

Might want to consider getting on the MFS email newsletter list. About every 3-4 weeks they have a sale on coils ("Buy One, Get One", "40% Off", etc.).

That's a good one. Never used it, I don't think, but give a knowing nod when I read it. So wish vaping had been around 40-50 years ago. Imagine the lives it would have saved.

Here, here!

This fine print is a not so subtle reminder to always read the fine print before signing anything.
