You can try it either way, but for me the important part is that the wire pulls in to the screw when you wrap it clockwise, which makes it easy to trap the wire and tighten the screw down. When you wrap it counterclockwise, it has a tendency to pop out when you tighten the screw down. These screws are so tiny and the build area is so small, and my eyes aren't that great up close anymore, so I need all the help I can get. Plus, if the coil shifts around a bit after I tighten the screw, I just re-position it (which I would do anyway to clean the build up).

I wrap clockwise - just leave the mandrel inside the coil until it's tight on the screws, then re-adjust if needed before pulling the rod out and wicking it.

I'd much rather re-align the coil while building than have it come loose while vaping....

Ok, all this build talk is making me want to do it. Thinking of getting a kayfun. Or maybe a Tugboat. I know, 2 ends of the spectrum, but Tug for home, kayfun for out & about, both on an MVP2 for now. Or maybe a Provari. I'm not about huge vapor production, it's flavor for me, & not too much TH. I want to hear from my peer group, not vapor monkeys. Speak, & be heard!

I agree completely. I have tried it the other way counter clockwise and it is a pain in the ..... I use a micro screwdriver 2.4mm to wrap it then it fits perfectly on a 3/32 drill bit for placement and alignment. When I recoil takes me about 25-30min, just to rewick and clean about 10-15min. When I started doing it it took about an hour. After you do it a few times it gets easier and easier. Since I have 4 and it comes time to recoil a couple I wrap a couple of coils ahead of time. Oh and I forgot I just leave some extra wire on the tails about 1 1/2-2" which makes it easier for me to get it on the screws, kind of shaky hands. Besides Kanthal is cheap.

Exactly what I do. Kayfun on Provari mini or zmax mini and Tugboat on Clouper DNA 30. Only problem is battery life sucks on all of them.

Still waiting on my dna30 mod clone and batteries.
So before even building a single coil I'll ask for sometime in the future that may not ever happen.
The rebuildable tanks with three posts that you can build dual coils on , can you also build single coils on them ?

More wondering than thinking of ever doing.

Just my opinion and maybe not relevant to your question: A Cloupor DNA 30 with a Nautilus/BVC produces all the taste and vapor I could ever want, without more throat hit than I want. I am SURE that home-built coils on RBAs provide "better" results. However, I'm not concerned about "better" when I've already got a set-up that's PERFECT for me.

I do not need to buy an iStick... I do not need to buy an iStick... I do not need to buy an iStick... ad infinitum.

Are you trying to convince us or yourself. LOL I bought a sigelei with the SX 200 DNA20 clone and while it works very well at 7.8W and above below that the screen sometimes doesn't turn off unless you turn it off. Go to have a vape and bammo dead battery.

Yep! My Nautilus will never go away! Just getting a little fascinated with the build & tinker thing. Would be a fun hobby I think. Then there's the diy thing. Sigh....I'll probably start with a full size Provari, & eventually a mini. That's the only thing holding me back. Nursing batteries when I can just plug n play my MVP. But Provari's....shiny....pretty.... sucking me in!

I'm at 14.0 watts on both of my Cloupor DNA 30 mods with a Nautilus and 1.8 ohm BVC coil now reading at 1.9 ohms after 5-6 days of constant use. I don't care whether it works at lower wattage because I don't vape at lower wattage. I don't worry about the fact that the screen sometimes stays on or that the light does not change to green when the battery is fully charged. I am unwilling to be tied to my PV via a USB cord, and I simply switch identical PVs when the battery charge indicator shows that I have less than 50% battery charge remaining.

Well, one idea behind wind your own is FDA proofing. If they ban resistance wire, all the companies that make space heaters and toasters will go out of business. And if they ban rayon, all the hair salons will, too!

The KF isn't touted as a cloud machine, although it can provide very respectable ones. But it's built for flavor. Easy to build and maintain.

Now Im going clockwise but still need to find a screw driver with an end that fits the screws and a handle i can get a grip on.

This mod I'm waiting on is supposedly a cloupor dna30 clone tis probably no good but eh eventually I'll get one of these p3.
Though if thats no good I will be disappointed.
Was thinking of an istick for another person but read a few people having issues and that youtube guy seemed to hint at the next model with changes would be better.

Yep if you get a ProVari the satin silver is 159.95 plus 20 for the extension cap. 20 cheaper then any of the painted ones and looks and feel everybit as good as the painted ones. My wife even dropped hers in the toilet let it dry with a little help and cleaned off the window where the screen is and fired it up thats been 2 months ago works flawlessly. I still have my PV1 which I had converted to a 2 and work as well as the newer ones. I bought it when it first came out on preorder. Toughly built.
