Thanks ncpatches, that's very helpful info. I don't know if I'm ready to DIY just yet but I'm going to start laying in the supplies to do so.

My next order for PG and VG, I'm going to compare WL's pricing with Amazon, they may be cheaper, but shipping can get a little high for heavy stuff.

Of course getting VG from Wallyworld and PG from Tractor Supply, if you have one, would probably be the best deal compared to paying shipping.

Don't tell anyone. but I ordered a bit of Kanthal 32 the other day. Just to play around with. Nothing serious.

Good for you.... with the current legislation going on we all need to be prepared just in case. I'm old and my eyesight sucks..but I can build a coil gives me satisfaction so that's all that matters. Now mind you..you won't ever see a picture of my coils:laugh: I did pick up a little lighted magnify glass at WalMart for $12 in the craft section that helps me a lot.

Is there a list here somewhere of all the vendors that offer a discount for ECF members? I know where to find the coupons, but every so often someone mentions to use a code. I supply 3 of us, so every little bit helps! And I am "thrifty"! I need to place a few orders pretty soon so I am checking sales and coupons and codes. If I save enough this way, I can get a little more in my doomsday box!

Whenever I place an order I just google the vendor + coupon and links will come up so you can choose a current coupon code. I've had pretty good success that way and can often avoid coupons that are expired. I'm not aware of an ecf member code.

How'd you decide on 32? Seems all kinds of ideas from 28 to 30 to 32. I was considering picking up a roll of 30.

I forgot to add, I also got some other e-juices today, which were a little more promising than the ersatz Virginia. These were from ECBlend -- Cinnamon tobacco; not bad, but really, really light tasting; think it just needs a short time to age, and let the flavors come out. Also, Cinnamon Apple, which is not a tobacco, but strangely, tastes more like my good Virginia, than the ersatz Virginia did! Worst comes to worst and I run out of the good Virginia, I guess i can vape the Cinnamon Apple.

Also -- I discovered yesterday that myfreedomsmokes has the Virginia I like, in the *VG* blend. So I might order 15ml of that, to mix with what I have left of the PG Virginia. Gotta be better than nothing, or craving a smoke. Actually I might just get 10ml of that, since I'm sure it probably tastes a LITTLE different from the PG blend; better not to get too carried away until I know for sure if I like it. The only problem with that idea is that MFS doesn't offer regular first-class mail shipping at all; their cheapest shipping is $5.95. So I dunno.

*sigh*

You know, I have had bottles of liquid that I didn't care for, put them in a drawer and months later try them again and love them. My taste bounces around. I don't know if that is just me or if that happens to a lot of people.

Heh, since I've only been doing this for a few months... that's what I'm prayin for! LOL

P.S. As far as taste bouncing... yeah. I hate when that happens.

Oh and Andria, I find that the simple 510 atomizers work great for testing juices. Just add 4-5 drops, put on a drip tip and vape. No need to use your other toppers that hold 2+mls and have to pour out the rest, especially if it needs steeping, clean and dry everything. You can get them in 5 packs, for about $1 each if you look hard enough. I didn't look, was told the vendor I bought from was the cheapest  and ordered, paying $15 for 5 (on sale?!?!)! DOH! That broke me from taking other's advice without doing the research to back it up. I don't think anyone here would ever mislead you purposefully, but when money is tight, you got to dig to find the best prices. The ones I got are 'bridged', they come in bridged and bridgeless. Have no idea why you would buy one over the other, but the bridged are the ones I got and they work fine for what I need them for.

Maybe someone could explain to us both, why you would buy one over the other, bridged or bridge-less.

Trust me, I didn't pour em out! I poured them into needle top bottles, and then put the juice back in the original bottle!!

I'll look for some cheap 510s, that's a really good idea. Saves a lot of hassle! And yes, any info about 'em would be more than welcome, I know nothing much about any of this stuff.

After reading this, I went and fetched it out of th drawer, so I can leave it open; the bottles are loose in that drawer, so I can't leave it open in there in the dark, or risk spilling it, so it'll just have to deal with the kitchen light for 24 hrs. Tomorrow afternoon I'll recap and shake and put it back in the drawer to let it age for a while. If that chemical taste leaves it, and the more-savory flavors emerge after aging, it might not be bad.

I'd really like to do that, but, budget forbids. We're gonna need more food before next Friday's payday, and even when we get that payday, gotta pay the electric bill, which, mercifully, was $40 less this month than last, but still... :( I probably really shouldn't have ordered that Virginia today from the place here in Georgia, but I gotta find SOMETHING as a substitute for my good Virginia; got maybe 15-20ml left of the 30ml I got last thursday, so I know it probably won't last until they restock. So I may have to go ahead and order their VG variety of that flavor, if these others don't pan out. But if I do that, I'm thinking I'll get the 12mg instead of the 6mg, and mix in some of the apple/cinnamon 6mg flavors I have, to stretch it, lighten the nic, and also lighten the VG load. Some of that Red Oak Tobacco might be good in it too, and that's also a 6mg.

Andria

Andria, do you ever make it up to Chattanooga? Mountain Oak Vapors have a store there. They have a vape lounge where customers are welcome to try any of their flavors. They have a line of tobacco that is extracted in-house. Their website is mountainoakvapors.com. I hope you find that flavor you are looking for. I know that can get frustrating.

IDK. Depending on if the experiment has any success on DV BCC Coil Replacement **5 pack - 2.4ohms or DV CE5 Coil Head - 2 Long Wick - 2.4ohms or Kanger ProTank & Evod Coil Replacement **5 Pack - 2.2 ohms I might trade notes with you.

I ordered just a few feet for experimentation purposes, so I won't have oodles and oodles of wire that sits around for years and years.

One of my favorite vapes is the orange cream from freedomsmokeUSA. Takes a month of steeping for me to be able to taste it. How old is your bottle? Perhaps it needs some more steeping.

Da BOD is 2/28/14. I get plenty o' taste, just not my 'glass o' OJ' at dis point... yet. It's da same with any melon flavs I've tried; rind/peel 'intrusion'/'contaminates'.

IMO, da bridgeless atties are sooo much easier to 'flush, dry burn and go' wid a new flav. Plus dry burning is a shorter exercise wid a better view of coil condition (aka individual coil wraps glowing red/orange with no evidence of joose crud).

My three 'primary laws' of dry burning atty coils:

Pulse dry burn until you see...
(1) individual red/orange coil wraps with
(2) no 'smoke' and
(3) sizzling.

Be cautious when dry burning. You can burn out the coil if you leave the power on too long. Remember to pulse on, then off for 3-4 seconds each. Adjust timing intervals as you gain 'experience'.

Dunno if I'm ready to dive in just yet. :) But it's pretty much dirt cheap here. And free shipping to boot. Wire

I always dry/burn at 3 seconds on and 3 seconds off. Last week I had one burn out though, even at 3 seconds. :(

Sure would be easier to see without the bridge, but then, when I bought them, I didn't know any better.:?:

You know, it's weird, considering it's only about 100 miles away, but the only time I've ever been near Chattanooga was driving thru it, on the way to/from Detroit when I lived up there. Shame, too; my parents took our son up there once for a vacation, and he apparently had the most wondrous time.

I put the figures together, for the flavor and the 125ml of 24mg nic juice from MFS, and I could get both for $13.40 -- less than I paid for this 30ml bottle I'm working on! I'll still need to get that syringe/needles, which will make ALL! of this a lot easier, but I'm really amazed at how inexpensive all this really is, to start making my own. My husband likes those figures, too! Even cheaper than the regular e-juice, which is already WAYYYYYY cheaper than cigarettes! That is one happy man, let me tell you. :D

Doing the DIY thing really doesn't bother me; I started baking cakes from scratch 25 yrs ago, and those are way better than anything that ever came out of a box! It's just a matter of getting the proper equipment -- where the heck can I find a 12oz glass bottle, to hold the diluted 8mg nicotine? I'm thinking maybe Hobby Lobby? Or maybe a beauty supply shop? Actually it might be better to get a 16oz bottle, so it's not full to the brim, but it seems best to me, to get glass to hold the nicotine, than plastic; sometimes some plastics have their own really awful smells (there's a certain type of plastic that they sometimes use to make the nosepieces on eyeglasses, that to me smells EXACTLY like pesticide -- Raid or something), and I sure wouldn't want any of those awful tastes to leach into the nicotine.

:

I've popped pretty much every coil I have owned. Those evod and vivi coils are good for 3-4 dry burns before they pop. Rebuilds on heavier wire are good for 25 or so dry burns without wicks ofc. They all degrade with use. So sad. :(
I never worry about them, it the cost of doing business I guess. I just keep lots of kanthal around.

Ok, I have a question, and I know you guys are the ones to ask. Early this afternoon I filled my original T3S with my usual daytime Virginia mix (roughly 7-8mg), and let 'er rip. It was going swell... until I got down to just about the point where it starts that gurgling nonsense, so I knew I would need to top off soon. But then... UGHHHH! Such an awful taste!!!!!!! I can't quite get it out of my nose, it was so horrible, and I'm wondering, does this mean that that coil is now shot? Lucky for me I got my new T3S today, AND a replacement coil, but I'm freaked if the thing is "shot" this soon; I got it just a week ago tomorrow, and I read on some site that the coils are good for maybe 10-15 days...?

I really don't know what's up with that thing, but I really hope you guys can tell me.

Thx!!

Andria, you don't need to dilute the nic. I use 48 mg nic, but only vape 4 mg. Use the ejuicemeup calculator and put in the numbers, 24mg nic and just below that, you put in the mg you want the ending result to be. It will tell you how much 24mg nic to add to whatever size bottle you are making, for it to end up with the level you want. You also put in whether the nic you are using is PG, VG or a combo of both and at what ratio.

When/if you decide to DIY, download the ejuicemeup calc and play around with that. It is terrific.

I did the figures and my diy juice cost me anywhere from $2-3 for a 30ml bottle. Sure beats $12-25+ from vendors.

I've popped pretty much every coil I have owned. Those evod and vivi coils are good for 3-4 dry burns before they pop. Rebuilds on heavier wire are good for 25 or so dry burns without wicks ofc. They all degrade with use. So sad. :(

I don't think you can rebuild a bridged 510 atty, but I could be wrong.

Juice will be a factor in coil life. I vape this cheese cake and my coils on that last a long time but banana cream pie (one of my favs) I have to dry burn it everyday. Usually a bad coil just won't work. If you get a burnt taste there are two things I look for
1. too high on voltage/watts
2. it is not getting enough juice (air flow can cause this or gunked up coil)
Too much air and juice doesn't draw in properly too little air and it floods.
T3's really do well when they are half way full to full. Once they get to that magical 1 ml left they are prone to leaking or getting too much air flow. You should dry burn that coil as posted above. I doubt the coil is shot.
