I guess you could pull off the metal housing with that mesh and dry burn it. I haven't tried it But I do have a few and will try it. I'll post if I'm successful

I did pull off the metal housing (what I called a "chimney") and did dry-burn the coils.

My problem...getting that small piece of mesh back around the coils/inside the chimney...while putting the chimney back on!!??!!

Looks like it might be time to run CCleaner and Malwarebytes. You might have something happening in the background consuming resources.

run those on regular intervals, twiddled with forum settings a bit and seems to be fixed for now (disabled the twitter/gmail and facebook stuff). Kinda annoying to have to wait for those 3 to load every time u do something on here ;)

In many cases, although I may be lurking somewhere in the corner, I just don't have anything to really say .. I'm not an equipment expert, I'm still using VV regular old stuff / cartos / tanks .. nothing exotic .. any advice I would try to give would be grasping ..

I do, however, learn much from the rest of the Illuminati that populate this thread and many others ..

Hey there Uncle Willie - nice of you to check in - haven't heard from you in awhile. Vape on! :vapor:

You're just spoiled 'cause it's too easy for you to get naturally ripened oranges in FL.

Mike, you're probably more right than you think. Plus, I did work in da OJ manufacturing industry fer 21 years!!!

You know I can't decide weather to be offended by this crack or not.

Sigh yeah I think its self imposed forum vacation time for me again.

OK, kiddo, where are we sailin' off to?

As I prepare my nautical provisions, got a Sigelei Z-MAX yesterday from FT after a month. Like it a lot and worth da wait!

Guess how I determined whether to buy it or not... Went to da appropriate forum and did a lil' 'homework'.

and for some odd reason this thread sometimes doesnt show up in today's posts.. and this site gets really slow for me sometimes ;p.. must be all the twitter/gmail/facebook plugins ;/

Update: disabled the social buttons.. and then looked at my task manager.. where my browser consumes 1.4 GB of memory.. something is very wrong here.. just not sure wich is to blame.. chrome or ECF ;P

I've been seeing the same thing, in task mgr, "chrome" is taking a ton of resources... the only thing I can do at that point is close chrome and restart it. I think it's just because this forum is so huge, or maybe because of those database problems they were having; it's almost like chrome thinks it has to load the forum's entire database just to view the forum. Hope they got that sorted out.

To everyone.. MWA! I just thought it was better to leave and stop annoying everyone. I've been pestering the crap out of everyone with all my panics, and finally figured out how to get the danged coil open! Then saw that there really wasn't a single thing wrong with it, so it had to be just the "burned juice" taste I got, at the end of that tank. My son has told me often that I'm the dumbest smart person he knows -- of course I often tell him that, too. :D

To be honest, I'm a bit afraid o using the needlenose to pull that thing off... I have accidentally bent more stuff, using pliers, even needlenose... really wouldn't want to cave in the chimney because my strength suddenly became bionic with pliers in my hand... rofl! So I'll try to get it off just with my fingers... if I can't, then I might try the pliers, so GENTLY... seriously those things scare me, I really have messed up a lot of stuff just because I used pliers instead of my fingers.

Andria

You could try putting a cloth around the post before clamping the plier onto it to minimize any damage.

Don't know if you have any of this in the cabinet, but it works great for a wick.

CONGRATULATIONS PATCHES! Wow, 3 months is fantastic! You can actually say you haven't smoked for 3 months!! WooHoo!!

Legolas, that's a great link for rebuilding the aspires. Love Rip Tripper! He cracks me up and gives good info. We've got a bunch of used ones sitting here that I was just going to try soaking in some denture cleaner to see if that might get some more use out of them. It's good to know how to rebuild them if the need arises or if I just feel motivated one day. Not sure about getting that insulating stuff back in there though. He did write something about it at the end so I'll have to revisit it.

Myranny, hope you get over the sinus thing quickly. It's the pits! I used to get those infections and found that taking Vitamin C each day helped a lot. Keeps things flowing and open. That's just what works for me though, but figured it wouldn't hurt to mention it. The minty vape sounds like a good idea too.

Willie, I had no idea UPS could be such a problem! I've always had a much better opinion of UPS than I do now! Only ever ran into 1 crazy driver and they've always delivered to us just fine. Amoret, you must have felt like you were in the Twilight Zone looking at your delivered packages and then being told your address didn't exist!

Hope I didn't miss anything. It took quite awhile for me to catch up!

Yeaaaaaaah....... um... we all get cranky from time to time.
and Andria cannot afford to go off buying 50 types of cotton just now.
the q-tip cotton will work just fine.

and I hope you feel better soon Myrany :)

That's true, I really can't, but you know what's greeeeeeaaaaat?? NOT having to reserve $33 or more of that less-than-$50 for cigarettes!!! We can spend it all for food, or whatever... yeahhhhhhh that's a great feeling. :D :thumb:

And I hope so too, Myrany; the very first week I was here, I had the most ROTTEN cold... lord, it was awful.

Hey, I just went spelunking thru our first aid supplies... no rolled cotton, but we do have plain sterile gauze pads (sealed)... could those be use to make wicks? I'm not talking about the non-stick gauze, though we do have those too... but just plain gauze pads, sealed in paper.

Pull a few threads out of one. Burn them with a lighter or candle. It should go to ash totally. If there is any lump of anything or anything waxy then they are not 100% cotton

Well, cheese cloth was a wick fad for a bit - maybe you're about to discover the next best thing.

Got da telescopic. Luv not having extra batt extension tubes laying 'round! Sumtimes I like an 18350, sumtimes an 18500, other times...
icon_wink.gif

Thus far, I have only one very, very minor complaint. Da metal fire button has just a lil' bit of rattle; again very, very minor! Otherwise, totally happy with da PV!

If it helps ya got 'beyond' it - the rattle of my plastic button is louder than the metal button in my Zmax's. Just vape it, don't shake it. :vapor:
