We do have some caves around here but there are apparently some bats that will abandon them if they smell human presence. No clue which have the bats so I stay out of them all.
Over a year ago some bats started to go on our evening walk with us. They flew by and squeaked, I whistled back and it soon became a year-round nightly thing. Trying to get a sentence out is challenging.
“We went to (
squeak) Safeway (whistle) and got some ice (
squeak) cream but (whistle) forgot the cooler (
squeak) bags and (whistle) had to (
squeak) eat it (sigh,
vape, whistle) all out (
squeak) in the (whistle) parking lot.” (S
queak!)
I’m not complaining, it’s fun. There’s been a massive decline in bats and moths since all the trees died here last/this year and it devastating. We’ll take all the squeaking we can get.
