Thanks for the welcome. I am a more of a lurker than a poster. I only recently started reading some of these general topic threads. Sometimes I know the answer and feel like I should post it. Usually, I just read.
I hope I helped get your top (cap) off.

Well welcome and don't feel you have to hang around lurking. Chime in anytime. Particularly w/ good tips like you gave our LittleBird.

200 days without a cigarette. Have not hand one in hand since the second I bought an iStick Basic and filled it with Strawberry-flavored juice. Tonight I look around and realize I have four tanks filled with DIY flavors that I enjoy, and those tanks all have coils that are rebuilt or re-wicked by me. That's a true testament to how wonderful the folks on this site are. I would not have even considered mixing my own juice or building coil heads without the help of everyone here.
Way to go! It's a whole new way of life, eh?

Aargh! Press fit attys! The top cap is stuck on a Manta. Anyone have any ideas on how to get it off? It needs dry burning and re-wicking in the worst way!
are there different types of Mantas? I just watched a vid on the v2 and it shows that you unscrew the top part, then pull off the AFC, or is it the AFC that is stuck?
from what todd said, sounds like the v2 has a lot more airflow than the V1. What is it you like so much about the Manta?

Welcome! Glad you came out of lurk mode, especially with such valuable help! Please pull up a chair, sit on the floor, and continue to contribute your experience and wisdom. Lots of friendship and experience around the porches. You fit right in.

The manta does have a tight top cap. It goes all the way to the bottom (no lower lip) so you can pry it off. Put it on a mod with a large flat top (not a tube mod). Unscrew it slightly until you can fit the end of a flat head screw driver under the outer edge of the Manta. Just go in about 1/32 of an inch or 0.5mm. Pry up. Keep rotating and keep prying. It will raise up little by little. Once you get it off, remove one of those o rings inside the top cap. It makes it easier the next time.
It is a fine atty. My clone that I modified for bottom feeding is one of my favorites.
good luck

All's well. Planning a trip back to the Us for a big family reunion at Cape Hatteras. Been a few years since I've been home. Still vaping, and finally not afraid of my vaping equipment. Haven't blown myself up even once.
Not blowing yourself up is always a good thing, keep up the good work! :D

Have a great family reunion, though it sounds like it would take a lot of hard work not to. We use to have an Australian vaper on here (Wolf, where are you?) but haven't heard from him in a while. Let us know how it is getting vape stuff in and out of there. I'm just curious. Have a great time!
Good morning, Porchers! I've gotten a couple of emails from Von! He's doing well, kinda taking a little time out from the forums to reconnect with reality and enjoy life a bit. He's been out fishing and enjoying the beautiful landscape in which he lives. He also ran across a little information on a cancer clinic; which he forwarded to me, and I will be sharing with my Bride. :)

I don't think he'd mind my sharing this to bring a little beauty to our world. :)

I recently acquired one of those, also. It was a "free gift" when I renewed my electricity plan with the power company. Pretty nice little gizmo, and even has a built-in solar panel to recharge it. That inverter has been a lifesaver, though. Several years back, we were out of power for a week and a half (due to a hurricane). Between the inverter and the propane camp stove, we fared pretty well. Even showed one of the neighbors how to make coffee on the camp stove... he was going into some pretty serious withdrawals. LOL! He had no idea that you could boil water on a barbeque grill.

Yep! As Iffy said, there are more efficient ways to charge a battery, but the inverters sure do make things simple sometimes. ;)

Hahahaha! Yep, us little guys gotta learn quick. I learned a lot from my grandpa... he was an "old-school-scrapper"! LOL!!

Y'all be careful out there on the roads! Very happy to hear that you have such a wonderful visit coming up. :)

Hahahahahaha!! That's probably not too far off from describing me, too! Except for the "on steroids" part... I've got a pretty slight build. Worked out well in my younger days, though. We used to go spelunking in various caves and I could get into areas that most of the other guys couldn't access. ;)

Well, I usually only order once or twice a year. I get nic, VG, and quite a few flavors from them... it doesn't take long to hit the $75 free shipping point. ;)
Beautiful picture from Von Vape. Glad he's taking time out to enjoy the great outdoors, the lights will be going out (for the most part) soon. Ooooo, wait, then he get to see the northern lights. Lucky dog.

Slight build and spelunking are a good combo. I envy that you were able to do that.

Rarely order from WLs now that I quit doing flavors. Only time I think I got free shipping was when I ordered a gallon of VG and some nic. I've made a lot of orders from them, just usually under the free shipping limit. Have you ever requested one of their drawings? They're pretty clever. They'll copy it onto your receipt. Just request in the comment section (whatever it's called) something like a troll vaping (haven't seen one of those) and they'll send it along. :)
I'm definately not a UPS fan. They have left packages on the porch in the rain without a plastic cover (which they are supposed to do even if its only supposed to rain), they left packages outside the gate by the road - they said the driver was afraid of the dog…we dont have a dog. They delivered our packages to other addresses. They are useless.
You don't even have a dog?!

Yeah, they left a large box on our porch once. Sat there for three days, during torrential rains. Back when we used to have them. It was a wedding gift. Luckily it was two sets of dishes.

Most of the drivers are great yet I can't believe the company takes packages addressed to a PO Box when they refuse to deliver to them. Blame part of that on companies that don't tell you they ship via UPS. Honestly, it's not that difficult to get it right, it's just that those city people are so out of touch with the rest of the country. :grr:
yw hun. But I forgot to mention all thanks goes to Retired, he's the one that gave us that link then a couple days ago, reminded me about it lol

just horrible!

psssttt he's a she :D

Glad you didn't have serious damage, but stinks you were without internet. Seems so odd to think back to the time (not so long ago) when we couldn't even have imagined something like the net......would have seemed space age!

Jup that's awful too! This is not the same as that, but when I was a Sr in HS, our neighbor had a pipe bust.......she worked in another town during the week and came home on the weekends. She came over just in shock when she got home for the weekend, asked us to come over......... the inside of her house was like an ice palace! a good 6 inches of ice covered walls, floors, furniture, every surface! It was beautiful in a horrible way. Totally shocking.

Been there done that. He'd been dead at least 2 weeks and likely 3-4 weeks. That is a stench you just can't ever forget!

do you have a link for the squonk bottles you got?

JUP!!!

lol that's cute! Sometimes it's amazing the stoopit things people name businesses. We have a real estate company a couple towns over called Flood Real Estate! Yeah makes me really wanna buy a house from y'all. On the funny side.......we used to have a local jeweler and the name was after the two men who started it........... Boozer and Weaver.

If you go with button top these are the ones Rob recommends AW IMR 18650 3.7v 1600mAh It's not showing the max discharge rating now on there which is odd, but it was always 24 amps. You do NOT want the 2200 mah. A lotta folks tried those and the 1600's were much better. Don't know about the 3000 mah ones, as those are kinda new........within the last year or less. What type of flat tops do you have?
If you vape above an ohm, flat tops are fine in the grands. I use the brown LG HG2s in mine. Now that I'm vaping .5 ohms instead of 1.3 ohms, they're still fine to use, but I get a lot more arc'ing, so have to be really diligent with the Deoxit gold that I have, until I can get some NoOxID which is apparently much better, but not as icky to use as the Noalox.

I've always called it a sister from another mister lol Really great that y'all get to visit!! and that the storm won't mess up y'alls show! Still plannin on gettin a purple paracord lead later on after some other things are taken care of. :)

oh....((((((tutu))))))) sorry you've had such a rough day. Weird all that happened to the tank, but the glass didn't break

oh that's wonderful!!! Both on the visit home and you being quite comfy with your vaping now. Jup, time to get you started makin yur own juice soon :)

oh thanks so much for the update!! Give him hugs from us.
You're making this difficult, Quotie Queen.:sneaky:

Ran into that with Katrina. Dead bodies in houses over three months after it hit. Not a smell you forget easily. Naturally, they were all poor people. And by the way, if you own a pet, don't leave them chained (or even tied) below the flood line or caged on your kitchen counter.

IIRC, 23 people died trying to save their pets during Katrina because authorities refused to evac the pets and they chose to stay with them. We've had numerous fires here and now, consistently, the evac orders contain information on where pets/livestock can be taken. It's set up at the same time human shelters are. Those people didn't die in vane but they died needlessly. Jup, that was an OT rant and I stand by it with every fiber of my being.

The tank thing was weird. It looked like the Leaning Tower of Pisa, no joke. No crack or chip on the glass. I mean, it leaned, and leaked. Compared the old glass with replacement and replacement looked a wee tad thinner. In a "blind" test, husband thought so too. Think the newer replacements are even thinner. Old glass is a keeper!

They all did the same thing to me, I couldn't be more grateful considering what we are faced with today. As time rolls on, it just keeps getting better. You're doing great, keep up the excellent work. :)

Just wondering if you managed to get your top cap unstuck. drmarble's suggestion should definitely give ya the extra leverage you might need for that. Another option would be to do as Deb suggested and put it in the freezer for a l'il bit. That should harden the orings and reduce the friction point of their gripping ability. Then, you could dip the top of the top cap into really hot water to expand the upper section more than the base, and it should pull right off. The point of that is to harden the orings and contract all of the metal; then expand the outermost metal to increase the size difference between the two separate pieces. I've had to do that with my Stumpy a coupla times. That one likes to grab really tight sometimes, too, but it's too precious to me for me to take a screwdriver or pliers to it. If you need a little extra grip, I suggest one of those silicone pot holders. Those things have saved a number of my attys. ;)

Welcome to da porches! I agree with everyone else... You should post more! I particularly like the suggestion of removing one of the orings... I'll probably end up doing that on a couple of my attys now!

He send a couple more pics, with some swans on the lake. It really is beautiful up there; I fervently hope that I can make it up there for a visit at some point. I'd love to just drive, hike, camp, fly-over, and boat around to see as much of it as I possibly could!

Slight build and spelunking are a good combo. I envy that you were able to do that.

:) It was a lot of fun. We moved to Missouri when I was 16, and that was probably the best thing I ever found to do up there. We'd take flashlights, glow sticks, climbing rope, and chalk to mark our paths so we could get back out again (I always used purple chalk ;) ). It's unbelievable how you can literally crawl 100 yards on your belly to squeeze through a section, and then have it open up to a cavern the size of a small amphitheater. Even found an underground stream in one of the caves... very cold, clear, fresh water. It'd probably kill me to try that now, but the memories will last the rest of my life. :D

I didn't even know they did drawings! I'll definitely have to request something with my next order. Thanks for the tip! :D:thumbs:

Never noo perkle wuz a flaver.

Oddly enuf, purple tastes like blackberries. ;)

well o corse it iz. dark chocolate is wrapped in purple a lot. Cept I just started likin dark chocolate bout a year ago

I LOVE dark chocolate! I've never really liked milk chocolate, but I used to eat the dark, semi-sweet baking chocolate whenever my mom would use it in the kitchen. She'd be trying to make stuff, and I'd be cuttin' chunks off the block and just eatin' it all! :D Yep... I was "Mama's L'il Helper" in the kitchen. :p
