Looks like I am going to be in the market for a new charger. I currently have two X-tar chargers and on one of them the right bay seems to charge when it wants to - need to replace it.

Any good suggestions on chargers?

I will probably buy it from RTD...

I have a 4- and 2-bay X-tar -- VP4 and VP2, respectively. I also have Nitecore I4 and I2 Intellichargers. I prefer the readout on the X-tars, but all seem to charge in the same amount of time.

I like my efest luc blu6. I don't ever use my eizfan 2 bay or intellicharger i4 anymore. the blu6 has a smartphone app so I can monitor the status while they are in the lipo guard bag and if I am in a rush and all 6 bays are not full i can bump 4 of the bays up to 1.0 amp or the 2 other bays up to 2.0 amps if I need to charge them faster before going to bed or out of the house.

Like $32. But "if" they see it's bad via video (dead. just won't charge) they want me to return it so they can see it, then they'll ship a replacement. So shipping to china is... how much? And probably a month each way. And who knows how long for them to check it in the first place... meh. Pretty much the end of actual "working" products for me. They reduced themselves to a (last resort) parts place for me.

From what I've read on the FT thread, returns go to some place in FLA, at least...

They can catch the meal worms? I'm going to have to try that. I point a light out the window to attract the moths and the bats swoop by and get them. Sometimes they land on the screen and chase them around but there are so few months this year its scary.

They can... but just know that a LOT of them are gonna not get caught and end up on the ground...

Wow! That IS impressive! I would have thought Flukes would be the gold standard.

Flukes are great for reading resistance and voltages, but for highly accurate readings (to the hundredths or thousandths of an ohm), they aren't as accurate as you might think. For that, it really is better to use a dedicated 4-wire milli-ohm meter. It uses two leads for the negative and two leads for the positive and has a zero adjustment that you calibrate with a copper shorting bar.

Cuz you'll be promoted to that soon? Or just have the additional duties dumped on ya for no more pay? Nosy aint I ??? lol

Yep, I'll be taking over his job at some point... probably after the first of the year. There's a good chance that he'll be offered a package to retire soon. I came to this department 10 years ago and was told that I was to be trained to take over the department as the supervisor... no one told me that it was a 10 year plan. I've known how to do the vast majority of his job for the past 8-9 years. Looks like sticking with it is finally about to pay off!

wow, that's amazing. I knew they were accurate, but didn't know they were that accurate! But what does that mean to me? If I'm showing a .5 ohm coil on a cheapo meter..........how much different might it read on a USA meter?

For a .5Ω range, it isn't that big of a deal... but for us insane cloud chasers, on mech mods, it's pretty important. I don't do it as often as I used to, but I would build to the razor's edge of the battery's tolerance on multiple occasions. Not a wise thing to do for those that don't have a firm grasp of the theories involved, I'll admit, but I've been trained in electronics for over 20 years and am comfortable skirting around the edge... for myself. I do not recommend building at that level for most anyone else and have counseled quite a few people against it in the past...

yes,, in my case on the deep discount row. but its normal location is the gift shop/local sports team shop area. mine were cheap because they are .... ugly... they are 'camo' with Kemah written across them.....(i will change that over time)........uh,,, Kemah is a nice on the water/boardwalk tourist area .. and you cant hunt for probably 30-50 miles because the animals are protected.. that why we have so many awesome deer everywhere.

I know Kemah quite well. I'm a League City girl living in exile in Alvin. We need to go to lunch!

Xtar's are supposed to be the best? Mine are Nitecore i2's. They just have 3 lights that blink to show charge levels.

I probably spoke to soon. I'm usually charging overnight (no one yell at me, please!) at either .5 or 1.0. When I get up in the morning, everything is charged. I can't say whether any of the bays is slower; I'm asleep.

Diff rated batts would charge at a different rate. However, read the instructions yeerz ago (Yeah I know. Mind boggling) and if memory serves (usually doesn't) Bay 1 & 3 are on the same circuit. Bays 2 & 4 on anudder circuit.

I do the same thing most of the time. I've got the Nitecore I4, I think... usually plug it in at the kitchen counter and put it in an enamel coated cast iron dutch oven... just in case something were to vent, but I've not had any issues with that. Ever. In 7 1/2 years of vaping, I have never had a battery, of any type, vent. Not sayin' it can't happen, but it isn't something that I'm particularly worried about.

Hahahaha! Yeah! I was happy when I found a 4-wire for around $125... there are definitely more expensive ways to measure resistance, though!

I just bought an Xtar VP2. 2 bays, 3 different voltages and 3 different amp settings. Also has a 12 volt adapter so I can use it in the car.

Get 2 of them you need backups. I have to older 2-bay Xtars and always take both when traveling.
