Feeling a bit sad. The mod I quit smoking with has died. It was a Sigelei 20 tube mod. Quite a cool mod, made of good thick stainless steel, with a Spinner type top connector that took Ego or 510 tanks. It was the most expensive mod I ever bought, about $80.

It's the first piece of vaping equipment I ever had die on me. Tried to use it this morning and it was acting odd. It wouldn't fire the tank. All that happened when I pressed the button was that the Sigelei logo popped up on the screen for a moment. I took the battery out and noticed that the spring had collapsed. Turned out to be the exact same spring the Silver Bullet uses. Thinking it might have been a bad battery I put in a new spring and a new battery and the new spring instantly collapsed without even pressing the firing button. Luckily the battery only got slightly warm on the bottom. I took it apart but couldn't see any obvious problems.

I never knew it had a hot spring. I didn't think regulated mods used them.
I know the feeling. My Hana stopped reading attycs last night. It had started jumping around readings & now it won't read my Kayfuns at all. It still turns on & off & shows the seconds when I press the button, but it shows zeros on the ohms. No clue. I'll try with kanthal when I get home.

Bummer!

Is it this one?
$34.23 Authentic Sigelei 20W Variable Watt Mod - 7.0W-20W / 1*18650 at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

Sounds like something on the board died, and is acting like a pretty hard short....

That's the one. I figured it might have been something in the board. I heard people had problems with the tilt sensors that control power addjustment. Never heard of one shorting out. But they are really tall and easy to knock over so it had been banged around a bit.

Now I'll have to get another mod. Provari 2.5's don't have quite enough power for a Nautilus so I used the Sig for that. I've been out of the buying business for a while. I need to find a couple of cheap mods that do at least 20 watts. Kicking myself I didn't get a Provari Classic or P3 when they were going cheap. Don't know what's good these days.

You can get a Pico for $21 with code name Turkey at Rocky Mountain Vapor. Free shipping, too.

Cool. It's ordered. Do you know how long is that Turkey code is valid? Thinking maybe I should get another one. I've heard people talking about them a lot so I guess they are good.

Congrats! You're gonna love it. Pretty much anything Eleaf/Joyetech makes is good.

No way to know. They put the code up during their Thanksgiving sale and have just left it up there. Guess it's working well for them. I think you'll like the Pico.

Duplicate posting please remove. My WiFi acting up again

Naw, your wifi is off the hook this time. Made a post around the same time you did and mine posted five times. Was a glitch in the matrix.

I am old school too. I have tried new tanks and such, but all too airy and sub ohm is not my thing. Good part is I have managed to stock up pretty well on the cheap with clearance sales on old tech.

Now that you mention it, almost everything I hoarded for deeming was deeply discounted. Made out like a bandit when I thought we'd be able to afford very little. (Spent over ten thousand on the car since last fall and it's in the shop for the third time in two weeks again. :grr: ) Very thankful for those sales every day.

FWIW, to those of you who order from Chinese suppliers like FastTech, do you use your main credit card or do you use PayPal or some sort of more secure payment vehicle like a reloadable Visa?

What's the most secure method and who are the best suppliers in China with fast shipping?

Only ordered from FT and use my main credit card. Never had a problem. Don't have PP. I had a link to a site that would check the security of a web site but lost it when my computer SNAFUed that last time. Paging @retired1 ! Would you please post that link again?

I normally only have allergy issues in Spring or Fall. One year I suddenly started having the eyes, nosen congestion thing in mid summer. Turned out there was smoke blowing in from Mexico from several fires, one, a factory & warehouse that had who knows what in it. It was wrecking havoc with people all the way into Oklahoma. It was horrible in Houston.

Surprise allergy attacks aren't fun. The one you had sounds terrible. Reminded me of this, something I hadn't heard of before. https://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/29/...stralia-thunderstorm-asthma-attacks.html?_r=0

Oh man, I'm sorry, it's tough to lose an old faithful, especially the one hat helped you quit. I have heard lots and lots and lots and lots of good things about the Picos though. :)

Hiya folks!

@englishmick - sorry to hear of the loss of your Sig.... I have yet for one of my beasties to truly give up the ghost. Like Bea mentioned, Picos are pretty awesome. Only drawback is the limit on the tank size (22-23mm is about the max) without bumping into the battery cap. I only have a couple of tanks which really won't fit right, so no biggie to me.

Placed my first-ever order with Efun today. For gawd-only-knows-what reason, I grabbed a couple of iCares with the 2300 mah base. They just "look interesting". I'm still (im)patiently waiting for my Smok Alien to leave China (even though it appears it's done so twice :sneaky: I really don't "need" any of this stuff, but it's sure fun to get vapemail!

I had a bit of a TC revelation today - I uploaded the latest firmware for my eVic VTC Mini, and (saw something shiny) thought about the TCR settings. I think it was a V3.x firmware update that allowed for SS in TC mode, but for sure it's in the 5.04 version. So, this TCR memory setting - made me go "hmmmmmm" I'm starting to use NiCr more in my builds and wondered what I needed to set TCR for that wire type. Voila! Found the TCR figure and now have it plugged into one of my memory settings..... Now, to build an NiCr and try that out!

Sorry but you have NO idea of the WiFi i have to put up with. This RV Park has four routers from 8-12 mega bits per second, abd every single one of them has this infuriating habit. Full power one second and GONE the next and wait 3 minutes or more for my Signal to come back.

I doubt it will tc with nichrome Dinger. The tcr is so low that your mod won't see enough res change to tc and will likely jump out of tc back to power mode.
The Hohmwrecker G2 with EPT (electronic data packet technology) can tc kanthal and nichrome. It sends data packets through the coil and measures the speed at which the data returns. The hotter the wire gets the slower the data returns and the G2 translates this along with minimal res change to determine coil temp.
HΩ Wrecker G2 (Hohm Wrecker) 171W Temperature Control Box Mod
The downside is that it's a bit fussy to set up.

My first TC mod is in the mail, a Pico. What type of wire would you suggest for a first foray into TC?
