I suspect that is what is giving me the powder/dry/perfume type flavor.

May I suggest you' might be using too high of a percentage. 'Perfume' is a classic indication of too much flavoring (yepper, been dere, done dat in my DIY genesis).

As fer EA, some folk swear they're sensitive to it and have to 'air' (open bottle) it. As fer moi, mix and vape!

Did ya work your way up da flavor scale when testing? Just a thought...

I will have to try a lower percentage on another batch.

I am a heavy user of TFA black tea, which I blend with my floral flavors. The tea flavor is heavily dosed with alcohol. This mimics the tannin flavor of tea. Definitely decrease your percentages if you don't like it. I suspect the solution is better with the alcohol. Alcohol in a flavor also adds a bit of a throat hit. After some experimentation, like in nuking it and reducing it by 1/3, I decided to live with it. YMMV.

As long as you're stocked on replaceable battery mods, getting the batteries shouldn't become a problem. 18650s are used in so many applications they'll not be banned.
Fixed in place mods, like your Istick 30, could be another story....
Lannie has gone to bed, but I am back for a couple hours before the pillow yells my name ("Come to bed ya stoopid oldt phart!"). Anyhoo...

Yes, I fully believe the 18650s will be around forever, but will the higher Amp types be available? The standard 18650s that are used in LED flashlights don't have the power (or the safety) to be used in a mod -- unless you don't mind a burned face now and then. :( And, believe it or not, we do understand that the iStick30, iStickTC40, X6s, EVODs, Disrupters, and the other shinies we have that use proprietary batteries might go away and not be replaceable after the Communist Federal Statists get done with us, but they have a finite life anyway. For example, the iStick30 is likely to last for only 300 recharges (about a year from date of first use if you vape over 10W), and given that the battery is inseparable from the electronics, when the day comes that it will no longer hold a charge, the whole thing goes in the garbage pit (after I have extracted select parts). :) I have a preference for regulated mods, but they can be obtained with replaceable batteries (such as 18650). So we are (as we can afford it or win it) acquiring mods like the iJoy, Koopor Plus, SXmini (why do they call it "mini" when it is large and weighs a ton? I call mine "Thor's Hammer" because you could use it to knock out a Grizzly.), etc. We have also bought some K-boxes to keep on the shelf for emergency purposes. And we are looking at (studying) unregulated (mech) mods for additional backups, simply because they are not stuffed full of proprietary surface-mount electronics (extremely hard or impossible for the "average" home technician to repair) and just about anyone can build one out of parts scavenged from other broken mods. Does all that make sense?

Yep, perfect sense. And those with built-ins MAY be able to be converted to replaceable by some, even if it means a new "case" for the elex.

Many of us have a couple or more mechs in the box. I have 3, and 3 Kick modules that fit 'em, so I can stay "regulated" until the Kicks die before having to get real precise with my coils :)

But I suspect the high CDR lithiums will still be around.

I think they will, there used in power drills saws and such. May have to take a battery pk. apart (been there done that);) Istick 30s, 40s, 50s and whatever s can also have there batteries replaced, check u tube, its not worth the trouble now but one day maybe :-x

In the past, I've had commercial juices with that perfumey taste / after-taste. What worked with them was letting them breath for a couple days, cap and tip off, agitate now and then. Where pets and kids can't get at it, of course!
Thank you Iffi, 3mg and David for your input and recommendations. I will try a lower percentage in a smaller batch until I can get it where I like it. I went through some of my other flavors and discovered that the Juicy Peach also has EA in it. I haven't opened it yet so when I do, again, I will start slow and work up.
I love this forum and the great helpful folks that hang here. Thank you, everyone and I want to wish all A Happy New Year! :img:

Well I ordered 3 VTC mini's. I watched review after review and I think for me they have the best bang for the buck. Single 18650 VW, Ni, Ti, SS316 manual TCR and pass through making it a mech with safety features. With the 3.0 firmware upgrade they are supposed to be really good. Got 3 nice colors. Gold, Grey, and Black. Should be perfect for me, all I use is Ti and about 25w since Ti ramps up really fast with less power SS takes a little more. I think I'll put my other SX's away for a later date. IMO they are the best mod there is with the v2.32 FW. They are amazing. Can't wait to get the VTC's though 3 of them cost $60 less then 1 SXmini M class which you can't even get anymore. I think that is a mistake. The ML is supposed to be really good but really not that much better then the M. And the old S that I have looks like the wreck of the Hesperus but works like a champ. Just like the 2 new Provari 2.5's I've got stashed. Plus I have a Reauleux RX200 which seems to work great. I don't like having to have 6 batteries that are tied up just for that 1 mod. I like the single battery ones. It's easy to carry a couple extra batteries. RTD sends you a plastic case for free with every pair you get with the HG2's anyway. Of course they are out of them right now. Was going to order an Xtar I think it is the VP4 4 pays and a digital read out for each battery but I wanted to get at least 6 more batteries. Can never have enough. I also want to get VG PG from Essential Depot I'm just hoping it is as good as the stuff I get from ECX already mixed to 50/50. A gallon of each for about $45 including shipping. Got enough nic for 33300 ml of juice since I only use 3mg and plenty of Russian flavoring for that much juice which I love. 9TC mods 3VV Provari's my wifes Istick 40. 10 AW 200Jah batteries for the Provaris button top like you need will have 20 HG2's plus 10 HE2's. Pretty well set for Vapocolypse.

I currently build all my coils so I can vape them on regulated or unregulated devices.

Make my base based upon what PG/VG ratio and nic level I vape. Then I add flav(s) to my t-buds' satisfaction and note that level in my recipe fer consistent jooses.

Ya keep mentioning 'peppery'. Seriously, did ya have some 'skunky' nic?
It was when I was the commercial juices when I first started vaping. Used 24 to get over the hump. started dropping after a month but it would begin to feel like I was inhaling pepper spray, or at least what I imagine it to be. Pretty sure I haven't had that problem since I started DIY.

I guess you use more nic than I so it would make more of a difference. I'm outnumbered on the subject anyway. :(

Dat's considerate since ya know I can't jump no mo'...

Oh give me a break. You're pretty spry on the porch. Never have a problem jumping all over me here.
I mix my nic/pg/vg prior also. I tried testing flavors with no nic once and everything just tasted flat so I gave up on that.
See Iffy, outnumbered.

There he goes... makin' fun of my Womper cloudz again... (Who took the frying pan? I need it!) That's OK, slowly but slowly, I'm dragging him, kicking and screaming, over to the Dark Side. His clouds are about as big as mine now. ;)

You guys got another rocker I can use? This looks like a comfy place for us oldt pharts. And apparently most of you have a sense of HUMOR, which seems to be sadly lacking elsewhere! LOL! I LIKE DIS PORCH! :D

~Lannie
Welcome to the porch, Lannie! (I think I got everyone else, if not, I'm sorry.) Looks like the others have everything covered except on minor detail below.
I looked. :( $160 worth of stuff for about $15. The plan is to give it to a young father that needs to quit smoking, just have to wait until he wants to.
Nice stuff. Nemmys are real low. But no temptation here.
Um-hum.
Ok, I messed up. I know it comes as a shock to us all, but it's true.
When I ordered my DIY Kit from RTS, I also got (what I thought was additional flavors, never learned to read:facepalm:) a Carolina Premium E-Juice sampler. So, my bad but it has turned out good. Of the three I've tried all have been very good. But, the really good part of this is that the samples are all 3mg nic and this is my 3rd day vaping the samples (normally do 6mg nic) with no side effects. So my having messed up has been a Plus.
OBTW saw one of the banner ads earlier that offered a free sampler but now I can't find it. The code was included in the banner.
Glad it turned out well for you. Don't remember the ad, will keep an eye out for it.
You are definitely not Noobs - your progress is substantial - far surpasses mine - I am more the simplistic type - if it keeps me off of the smokes - then I am a happy camper... Don't have to be shiny, don't have to provide huge clouds of vapor, don't have to provide nuttin, but what it takes me from going back and going back ain't gonna happen... :D
You described me perfectly. Okay, I kinda like shiny but just being off the smokes with something simple makes my day every day. Bit surprised I'm not the the tinkering/experimental type with vaping but have come to terms with it.
A quick question for the DIY crowd. I have a flavor I like and I have been unable to get it where I can vape it. It is TFA Blackberry and today I read the label and it contains Ethyl Alcohol. I suspect that is what is giving me the powder/dry/perfume type flavor. When I make my batches I steep them in a small crockpot and use a milk frother to mix it up. I leave it in the crockpot for at least a day and go in and use the milk frother a few times during the day when I think of it. How long does it take to smooth out the flavor and get rid of the EA taste?
Woohoo, TFA blackberry, my 24/7/365 vape! Had forgotten it had Ethyl Alcohol. The most I steep it is overnight or maybe even 24 hours.

Are you using it from a plastic bottle or glass? I found the plastic has a horrible taste, much as you describe, to me and no matter what I do, I can't get rid of it. Tried every suggestion given here and nothing worked. Over 8 ounces of flavoring down the drain, literally.

If your flavor is in a glass bottle, you might leave the flavoring uncapped for a day or two and see if that helps. Didn't do squat for me with the plastic bottles, never needed to do it with a glass vial. As others mentioned, it just may be too much flavoring. Try anything and everything to nail it down, it's worth it.
First off, a warm (I'm in FL) welcome to da rustic & rustin', but yet ever entertaining, ol' phart porch phorums! Wedded tag teams are kinda rare 'round dese parts.

BTW, Mike and all too many others here are all too conservative (aka cautious) with ample cushions. Don't let 'em deter ya. I'm more dan willin' to ophpher my services to phully phulphph da cushion of your choice.
Lannie, don't believe a phlipping word he says about cushions. Iffy's infamous for his whoopee and pin cushions. Just thank him and put it back in his rocker when he's not looking. :)
