Since we have some reonauts who don't necessarily visit the Reo forum, or at least not much.... thought I'd post this here.
Rob is staying in business, but the Reo forum is closing on the 20th of this month. We've started a new Reo lounge in the lounge area of ECF. Hope you'll come visit us there!!

Rob is an amazing man! He may not have invented squonking, but he solidified its place in vaping and brought ever so many folks great joy. I am sad to know that the REO forum is closing, and only hope that more folks will find their way to him!

So, why are they closing the REO forum? They aren't going out of business, are they?
No. Per Doodle's post, Rob is staying in business. But over the last year (perhaps a bit less), business is down appreciably. I have to think its the result of a)lots of new mod makers who do Squonk mods; b) the advent of high wattage regulated squonkers; and c) the obsession with "clouds, bro."

I have several Woodvils. They are great little mods. Rob mentioned the downturn, though, and suggested he might have to cut back. I haz a sad.

Ahhhhh... I see. I understand the market side of it. We're in a big downturn with the oil economy. It's good to hear that he's staying in business, though. The Woodvils are beautiful! I have plans to someday get my garage settled and get some decent equipment because I'd like to be able to do something similar. I love working with wood. The grain patterns are so pretty and there is just so much that you can do with it.

I hope things turn around for him. He's been making beautiful mods for a long time. I'd hate to see them go away. I can completely understand why you would haz a sad.

yes he is!!! I didn't know if he'd invented squonking or not, but just sorta figgered he had. Regardless, he did indeed perfect it with a mod that just can't be killed!! Hope that hasn't bit him in the hiney, but even so he'd not have had it any other way.

Kaezz I'm sure you've heard me talkin bout the P67 he just came out with in the last week or so (cuz I can't shut up about it) lol Wonderful form of the woodvil, easy maintenance of the metal mods, and from what I hear they even hit harder than the grands do. Oh my!! He'll still be making some, but not as many, and will still be repairing them for when us hooples (his pet name for us) do our best to try to screw em up! lol (it's not easy but we try!!)

HaHaHa! Yeah, I've hit the link and checked it out. Good looking mod! And I still have a soft spot for mechanicals even though I'm starting to prefer the regulated mods. I still see no need in 200+ Watt mods though. 50-75 has been more than enough for my needs. But a mechanical mod can always be repaired with minimal equipment. Can't really say that for a regulated mod... electronics have a lifespan. And it sounds like Rob holds customer service in the highest regard. That is a good thing! There aren't a lot of people/companies like that these days. I know that Tom (Tbev) is that way as well. He actually wants people to try and break his mods... But that's how he improves them, I guess...

What do you think of the P 67's over the grand? Easy on the hands like a woodvil but made of metal. here's the link again in case you didn't see it before.
Reo P 67 prototype

I'm hopin once we get some things from storage, that I can sell enough stuff over spring/summer to get one!

I've looked at those! Very nice! If I get a Reo I'll probably go with a TA. Then I won't freak about damaging the finish if I drop it. I love the industrial look of those as much as I love the beauty of the Woodville's.

Hope that today goes well for you, hun. Maybe you'll get lucky and they'll give you some sedatives in a to-go baggie? ;) They're a whole lot easier than havin' to hog tie someone...

I see that Legs got ya sorted out pretty well last night. Glad to see he came by! :)
For me, it just gives a little more control over things. Also, it seems that I got longer performance out of a wick/coil setup with less maintenance. At least that's my two cents...

Good to see ya, Sir! That is interesting in the quality on the different vendor wires. I've only used "K.Bee Vapor" Ti wire... I think I ordered it off of Amazon. It's been pretty good; shiny, but a touch coarse I think. You can actually see and feel little grooves in the wire. I've only used it on an Invader Mini and a Vaporesso Target mod (no idea what board they used). Neither of them have Ti modes so I've been running Ti in Nickel mode. It works, but the temp coefficients aren't correct so I have to set the temp lower. Anyway, I appreciate your views on what you've seen with it so far. I try to soak this stuff up like a sponge because everything in vaping is so subjective. I like to see what a lot of others are experiencing and then just kinda mash all that experience together. ;)

Sorry to hear that you are still having troubles. I hope that the doctors can help you with the medicine situation and get you back to a happier, healthier mindset! You still remain on the prayer list and you're not comin' off of it! :D

Those little brushes would probably work pretty good! I've never tried them, but now that you've mentioned them I may have to go pick up a little package of them at the store! :D
I use those little brushes on the inside of the coil I use a denture brush on the outside and hot tap water. Another trick I have found its when you rewick it an clean it make sure you vape it a few times right before you do it it seems to help. If the wire was rough it was probably jewelery wire that has been acid washed. That can be a little hard to clean because it is rough. Sounds like either Unkamen or Riogrande.

I've recently become a fan of the hammertone. He's either sold outta those or close to it. They were uber popular! Other than TRA it's the most durable finish. Maybe by the time I can get one, he'll have a HT/sl HT

Oh I thought of something else I vaped Ti on Ni mode for a long time before YiHi got the Ti mode right you just have to vape it around I think it was 290F can't remember for sure since they got it right I use the Ti mode at 410-420F on the SX and 480-500F on a Jtech. Now with a lot of the mods you have manual TCR and can use that. Also Wire Wizard will give you the temps to run Ti with a mod that only has nickel mode. Thats on Steam Engine.

@Myrany Make sure your vtc has at least v3.0 firmware 3.01 is better because it allows you to go up or down on the wattage when in temp mode and they are really easy to update. 3.0 gives you Ni Ti SS316 and manual TCR. 3.01 gives you the other ability plus the mode to use a ceramic atty I think. It is worthless to me but it is really nice to be able to go up or down on the wattage instead of having to round robin because the accelerator is so fast it is easy to miss the target then you have to go all the way around again.

Good tips, Legs! The Ti wire that I have seems to be pretty clean... I usually dip a cotton ball in IPA and pull the wire through it and only get a little bit of black on the cotton ball on the first pass... second pass comes through clean. It may have been acid washed, I won't refute that because you're right... it does appear that way. And yes, it does hold onto gunk a bit more than my NiChrome builds do. But I've switched to spaced coils on all of my builds from contact coils and it seems to gunk up a lot less now.

Oh another thing I forgot to mention about the Temco it is by far the cleanes wire. All the others when I wipe them with IPA have graphite on them but the Temco there is none.

Whenever I eventually run out of Ti, I'll probably buy Temco. I got mine a while back and Temco didn't have any available at the time. Well, that and I got a much better deal on this than I could have gotten on Unkamen or Spider Silk.

Oh I thought of something else I vaped Ti on Ni mode for a long time before YiHi got the Ti mode right you just have to vape it around I think it was 290F can't remember for sure since they got it right I use the Ti mode at 410-420F on the SX and 480-500F on a Jtech. Sounds about right on the Ti wire in Nickel mode. I usually ended up around 350°F before I was happy with it. The Tmod I'm using now has the YiHi SX350J board in it and has Ti mode, but I haven't tried a TC build in it yet. I think there's an update for SS wire as well, but I haven't bothered because I don't have any SS wire. Ti works just fine for me, I probably won't try SS unless I just happen to run across some on happenstance.
