Good tips, Legs! The Ti wire that I have seems to be pretty clean... I usually dip a cotton ball in IPA and pull the wire through it and only get a little bit of black on the cotton ball on the first pass... second pass comes through clean. It may have been acid washed, I won't refute that because you're right... it does appear that way. And yes, it does hold onto gunk a bit more than my NiChrome builds do. But I've switched to spaced coils on all of my builds from contact coils and it seems to gunk up a lot less now.

Whenever I eventually run out of Ti, I'll probably buy Temco. I got mine a while back and Temco didn't have any available at the time. Well, that and I got a much better deal on this than I could have gotten on Unkamen or Spider Silk.

Sounds about right on the Ti wire in Nickel mode. I usually ended up around 350°F before I was happy with it. The Tmod I'm using now has the YiHi SX350J board in it and has Ti mode, but I haven't tried a TC build in it yet. I think there's an update for SS wire as well, but I haven't bothered because I don't have any SS wire. Ti works just fine for me, I probably won't try SS unless I just happen to run across some on happenstance.
Nope YiHi didn't put an update out for SS but with the manual TCR you can dial it right in. Make sure you have the latest update. The test update Ti mode was way off but the latest which on the SX is tuned it just right for Ti and it gives you a mode for the Pure technology when and if SX comes out with it IPV already has but it looks like kind of a pain to me.

In fact I'm not even sure that Pioneer for u is out either but I've seen a couple of videos and it leaks which makes sense since the wick is right over the air inlet hole and has no coil around it to keep the juice from going in to the hole. Don't know what SX's is going to look like tho/

All the others when I wipe them with IPA have graphite on them

Everytime I see people talk about wiping wire with IPA, I immediately wonder why anyone would use beer to clean their wire... It usually takes about 20 seconds or so for my brain to catch up and remind me that I'm getting my alcohols mixed up.

I had wondered about that too. I know what PGA is, and that's what I'm used to hearing folks talk about cleanin stuff with, and what I've used. I knew PA meant pale ale, but just had to look up the I India I'm not a beer drinker

With beer, the main difference between a standard Pale Ale and an IPA (India Pale Ale as you discovered) is that IPA's are heavy on the hops. It's a holdover from when the British troops in India wanted the ale they were used to drinking shipped to them, and the extra hops was added to help preserve it for the long journey, supposedly.
In this case, IPA refers to IsoPropyl Alcohol, or at least that's what I have always assumed.

Suites me just fine... like I said, I'm not too concerned with runnin' SS anyway. I'll have to give the Ti a try when it comes time to change out the coil. For now, it's running very well and I don't wanna fix what ain't broke. ;)

Hahahaha! Hey, Beer is good for everything! But yeah, we're talking about IsoPropyl Alcohol... PGA (Pro Golf Association) works really well for cleaning parts too! ;)

Boy, I really had that wrong. I always thought PGA meant Pure Grain Alcohol and I never could understand folks wasting it to clean stuff. Makes much more sense to me now that I know you mean Pro Golf Association.
