You're a.... gasp... cloud chaser! Bet you make some serious fog.

No, I'm a flavor and nic chaser. I'm not able to chain vape at my desk at work, so I need to be able to take a break every hour or two and fully satisfy my cravings in 5 or 10 minutes of vaping, and I appreciate having a really tasty vape while I do it. For both things, being able to produce thick dense clouds helps a lot. I do use some of the tools and techniques that cloud chasers use, but my goals are different (it seems to me that cloud chasers are mostly interested in blowing clouds for their own sake, even to the point of vaping 0mg pure VG. That just seems silly to me, but if it makes them happy, more power to them as long as they don't blow their faces off).

I'm pretty much at the limit of what my equipment can deliver without altering the flavor of the juice, so I can't really see ever going lower. Fortunately, I'm satisfied with what I'm getting now. I can produce some fairly serious fog, but I'd never win a cloud chasing competition, and I'm perfectly OK with that.

The suburb Mandurah we don't say Man do rah . we say man dra.

I couldn't detect people sounding American when i was there but if I'm in a shop and someone walks by and talks and is from the USA its obvious.

When you hear people talking around here it does not sound like when your watching an American tv show and some Australian comes on and starts talking.

Going lower in what ?

What are ye chasing ? ah yes fav and nic but is that enough or is there more -

Wondering about someone here who seems to use old habits as a comfort - like they owe it something.

I thought American english was started by British english and the British english came to them from elsewhere .
American English and Brit English have both changed.

So is the Australian English that we hear on TV exaggerated? Do you have to concentrate to understand Cockney?

Beautiful day here in NC, gonna go up to the low 60s. Bet it's going to be downright hot in S Florida.

I thought about ordering the $30 Tobeco clone of the Kayfun V4 but what stopped me is that I would not like less capacity than I have with my Nautilus tanks.
Can't say about South Florida yet.. We ain't got there yet. I am wide awake at 3:30 am. Probably be letting Doree drive this morning as I am not sleeping again.

But the nice paart Matt is it is really easy to fill. With the Pyrex tank I have to refill it usually if I start out with a half a tank in the am only once but I have 4 Provari's 3 with KFL's 1 with the V4. I switch off all day..

Myself and my brother we cringe when the cockney factor comes on Tv.

We have some slang but you don't find that many people talking like that all the time.

Currently at dual build 1Ω I'm finding 30-35 watts is vapeable but strong. They have 8 wraps and Im wondering if the coils are quickly vaping the cotton they are directly in contact with and then it gets harsh and it takes time for the liquid to get into the part of the cotton that was just vaporised by the coils.

On another one single at 1.5Ω and 14 watts I can keep on vaping and it doesn't get stronger like the cotton is getting dry it keeps going.

So your 45-58 watts at 4 wraps has me thinking - Is that just the way it goes when using higher wattage , are you with that set-up able to vape many times or do you need a break to let the liquid in the wick get into where the coils have vaporised it ?

It all has to do with how hot the coils and wicks get. This partly depends on the wattage, but also depends on how the power is spread over the wicks, how the airflow moves around the coils to keep them cool, and how much juice is in the wicks. When you heat juice past its boiling point, the power is carried away from the coils in the form of steam until all of the juice has boiled off.

Airflow depends on the physical air channels in your atty, the positioning of your coils, and how you vape (mouth hitters move less air past the coils, so they'd use a tighter draw at lower wattage. Lung hitters suck a lot of air past the coils, so they'd use more air with a more open draw at higher wattage).

Juice flow depends on the construction of your atty. For Kayfun-style attys, it depends on how deep the juice channels are, how big the bubble is in the tank, and how hard you draw when you vape. It also depends on the position you hold the atty in, and the thickness of your juice. Then, there are the wicks themselves, and how they carry juice to the coils. Fatter wicks carry and hold more juice, but can also get choked if the coil is too tight. No juice is drawn into the evaporation chamber when you're not actually taking a puff. The juice that's already in there might equalize in the wick somewhat, but to draw more juice in, you have to take a puff. So, if you can't chain vape three or four puffs without the juice starting to taste burnt, it means your wattage is too high for what your atty and build are capable of providing. Some people take priming puffs to deal with that, but the only real fix is to deepen your juice channels, change your vaping style, or to buy a different atty.

Finally, there's how the coils spread heat over the wick. That depends on how much wire you're using, the gauge of the wire, whether you have a contact coil or a spaced coil, and the diameter of the coil. Contact micro and nano coils use a small amount of wire to concentrate heat into a small area of wick, while multi-strand twisted, spaced, macro coils spread the heat over more area. Single coils concentrate heat into one area while two or more coils spread the heat over more areas.

All of the above factors determine how much wattage you can use to vape before the juice starts tasting harsh or burnt. Some of them can be affected by your build, but many of them are determined by the construction of your atty. The Big Buddha was designed to support more power with deeper juice channels, a dual build deck, and a much more open draw than most Kayfun-style attys, so it's a good match for what I'm looking for in terms of my vaping style. If someone who takes mouth hits picked it up and tried it, it probably wouldn't work at all for them. The draw would be way too open, the coils would take too long to heat up, and the juice would start to taste scorched almost immediately (not enough air flowing past the coils). On the other hand, I had an opportunity to try out someone elses Taifun GT, and I could tell immediately that it was perfect for someone who takes mouth hits, but it was a total fail for someone who takes lung hits.

When I vape, I get a pretty massive hit of vapor, and I can take two or three puffs before I have to put the atty down for a while. This is not because the wicks are dry or the flavor starts to taste harsh, it's because I've just gotten a massive hit of nicotine and I'm done for a few minutes, at least. Every time I take a puff, I get a little bubble of air coming out of the evaporation chamber, so it seems like I could usually chain puff if I wanted to. But, I'd probably keel over from having too much nicotine if I tried.

Lower Ohms, I meant. I can't really go lower without affecting the flavor of my juice.

The flavor and the nic are pretty much all I care about. My preference would be to take a puff every few minutes or so and keep a nice, even, nic level in my blood. Unfortunately, I have to walk to the designated smoking area when I want to vape, and walk back when I'm done, and I'm also not allowed to vape in the classroom. That basically means that my only choice is between taking periodic vape breaks throughout the day, or to quit vaping entirely. I suppose I could quit and just vape at home all day, but I'd rather take vape breaks ;)

This dual coil at 30watts is a dripper two coils and the wick ends touch the bottom. the coils are in line with the air slots.

Produces more vapor and stronger vapor than the single coil , yes using higher wattage.

Do lung hits on that device as well fills your mouth with vapor in a second and it is very airy -

I do notice the vape getting harsher yet the wicks at the ends are still wet thats why i was wondering if the higher wattage was vaporising the liquid quicker than it could get the liquid to replace it - or if thats just normal.

If i lower the wattage it takes longer for the vapor to come and it seems somewhat muted.

All of this is not bad just wondering.

Hello folks. Thought I'd pop in and have a look, maybe book a rocker.

I gave up the old stinky sticks nearly ten weeks ago. I LOVE vaping much more than I ever enjoyed smoking. I never thought I'd say that.

I tried every which way to stop smoking over the years. Nearly 40 and I smoked around 30+ full strength Super Kings a day. I thought I would just have to put up with that filthy habit until it killed me.

But then got talking to a guy who was vaping. Went home, ordered a Vamo v5 and within a week was FREE.

It never ceases to amaze and thrill me. My family and doctor are so pleased as well. Having lost a brother to emphasemia earlier this year, I knew I could die the same horrible fate.

Now I can sleep without wheezing. My yellow fingers and black tongue are long gone. I don't stink like a dirty ash tray. And I'm so happy, really chuffed to have found this forum and the wealth of information, friendship and support it offers.

So many thanks and look forward to chatting, getting to know more of you.

Happy vaping. :)

Welcome to the porch Redruth and congratulations on dumping the stinkies! :toast: You're going to like it here; good folks, good information, good humor.

Hi Ruth, and welcome to the front porch. Since the Ballerina Bird seems to off line at the moment, I'll have to mention, for her, the caution about Iffy offerering you a cushion for the rocker... But the rest of the seats on the porch don't make noises.

Twas from someone else that I first heard that warning and I think they even had clever emoticons to go with it. It's one of the reasons why I'm usually on the floor with the pooches.

Try spacing the wraps of your coil out more, so that it looks like a spring. Also, try using more wraps of a thicker wire. That will spread the heat over more wick area, so that the coil doesn't get too hot where the wick is drier.

I get paid 1/4 cent per word, and I have a home property tax payment coming up!

I want in on that deal.

I remember my first Master's Thesis - the professor said that there was a minimum of 50 pages for our thesis - then she looked over to me and said - That means a maximum of 75 for you...

My will power if you want to call it that is beyond most humans.

I don't think i enjoy depriving myself although some may see it that way.

So why not use 0 nic you say ,,, well vaping seems a lot more safe for you than smoking and there may be some daredevil aspect to it - small though.

Home property tax - i wonder if thats what here we call rates.

pay it to the council every year for things like the garbage collection and maintaining parks and other things your council does. its calculated on where you live and the value of your property.

Australian house prices well ok get your house in USA and half its size then double its value.

Well for the average house .
4 bedroom 2 bathroom house here averages $500,000

I'm a nice even person... Usually. But the government and pharma efforts to ban completely along with the big tobacco efforts to take over and oust smaller business still makes me very angry within seconds of hearing about them.

And he's involved in doing something about it. :)

Actually quitting this time was one of the easiest things I have ever done. I just wish we could make the powers that be understand how good vaping is as a smoking cessation tool.

If they got $10 apiece from every child that vaped a month, vaping in grade school just might be mandatory. Probably combine it with school lunches, you know, vape their fruit and veggies?

The recent spate of articles has me a bit ticked. At least Pima County seems to be wavering now. Pima County Board of Supervisors delay vote to ban hiring smokers | KVOA.com | Tucson, Arizona Thread I saw it on here http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...cussion/634453-how-far-can-government-go.html

Welcome, Redruth. Noticed you were around. Now we will have more opportunities to debate Brit vs American English-- which one is true English? :-x:lol:

Ah, well you see I'm really a Lancashire lass just living down South - so my English is still a foreign language to most Southeners. Lol
