Gorsh.....y'all are so sweet! Well....I haven't slept at all again. (and it appears matt aint slept much either). But anyhow, I did some more. One, I cut one of the wires off while tightening the screw. One, the wire didn't get around the screw but I didn't know it til I cut the excess off. The third one finally looked like an actual coil. I got it glowing from the inside out. Wicked it. Cut the cotton with fingernail clippers cuz I couldn't find the scissors. And vaped with it. The 4th one definitely looked better than the first one. lol Not sure how I feel about all this just yet.....but at least I did it. lol

Practice makes perfect. (That's a pretty catchy phrase I just made up )

Yeah, "cutting" the wire with the screw is no fun, but not getting it under the screw is pretty easy to deal with. If necessary, you can wrap almost a full turn around the screw to be sure. Or just leave the "tail" a bit long after tightening - positioned so it doesn't short, of course - and check it over before snipping close.

And DO remember to leave your mandrel (screwdriver, knitting needle, whatever) in the coil while your attaching it to the base. Lots easier to work with, less chance of damaging / bending / warping the coil. And gives you something big enough to hold onto!

I actually was wondering about whether you could wrap it totally around the screw so the wire touched itself or not. I opted for not til I could ask. Well, son and dil are here, and we're gonna go to church. Talk to y'all later. Thanks!!

Sure can. Doesn't even count as leg length, since that effectively ends where the kanthal first makes solid contact.

Once again I am having trouble sleeping so I thought I would drop in real quick and see if anyone was around. Maybe answer a few questions if I can.

A little big of nostalgia here.....I heard about ecigs on the internet and wanted to find out more and came across this site. That was, let's see....about 2009. I travel for work on a weekly basis from Ohio and I'm on planes all the time. Pretty hard to do for a smoker. I was working in SF at the time. I ordered a Joye 510 which seemed to be the most popular at the time and had it shipped home to Ohio and picked it up when I got there. I gave it a try and never looked back. Haven't touched an analog since. This forum really helped me get started but once I moved on from San Francisco, I stopped coming here. I'm still vaping the 510 which still works for me (imagine my horror when I found out most people had moved on from the 510!). I used to vape in the smoking lounge in the Atlanta airport and would go outside to vape along with the other smokers at work. I am glad to say I converted a few to vaping and had plenty of conversations with smokers in the smoking lounges in the airport and I still try to advocate vaping over smoking. I vape at work, discreetly, of course, and I even vape on the plane when no one is looking (they claim that it's not allowed, but no one ever sees it) I hold the darn thing in my hand all day and sometimes fall asleep with it (much better than falling asleep with a lit cigarette!) I even hold it in my mouth when I'm typing, like I am now. One day, I was at home and couldn't find it and was going from room to room looking for it and my daughter said, "umm, Mom, it's in your mouth". I haven't been able to live that one down... I'm back here now because I'm wondering if anyone has any information on another ecig like the 510 that; 1) doesn't leak so much; 2) has the same approximate size; 3) has a better atomizer life. Mine are dying within a week and it seems like they used to last for at least a month. Batteries I don't have much trouble with. I have two PCC's on me at all times and keep them charged up all day. I ordered some additional atomizers and some of them were different...they had a little point at the end instead of the little cotton thing inside and they seemed to work better but wore out quicker, I think. I also ordered a different variation of the 510 that had a tip that you are supposed to put the e-liquid in that didn't require the cotton batts but I couldn't figure out how to use it right. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Oh, and when I am home and not on the road, I LOVE to sit on my porch with a cup of coffee and my e-cig.

Finally getting caught up here and wanted to make sure I welcomed you! Glad to have you!

You guys are making me feel bad that I still vape something that tastes like a smoke. I guess it keeps me off stinkies so it's ok. I've posted several times lately that I am definitely looking for some new flavors.

Hey, hey, hey, if you like what you're vaping who cares what anybody else thinks!!!

I've been vaping the same stuff for almost 3 years. Beginning to think it might just be time for a change. We have a couple of B&B around with juice bars but all at 0 nic and I haven't been able to taste a damn thing at them. Even carry suicide bunny and such. They all seem really weak to me. Suggestions?

Maybe try something with some menthol in it? Some who were never menthol smokers found they sometimes like a menthol vape.

Have you looked into the WTA thing? I know zip about it but they do help a lot of people. WTA = whole tobacco alkaloids.

Mike used the WTA and that's what finally got him off the cigarettes. Evidently his brain was more dependent on it than I was, but even I noticed that I was more satisfied after vaping with the WTA. Only used it for a couple months and I only used it if I was having a stressful day.

I did it I did it I did it!!!!

I built my very first coil!! It looks horrible, but my hana says it's a 2.5 ohm coil. A bit more than I was going for, but since I couldn't get online to the coil toy at the time I was wrapping it earlier, that wasn't bad. I haven't wicked it, definitely gotta get better at doin these wrappy things. Ok, so yes, I know all I did was wrap some wire around a screwdriver, and stick the ends under some screws........but, y'all don't know me.......this is a big deal!! lol I used to have a Tshirt that said, I'm mechanically inclined.......I screw up everything. I think I'm gonna save this one, and will do another one tonite, and actually wick that one. Maybe after my shower. Is that just a girl thing to save your first coil......any of you fellers got yurs???

Woohoo!! Knew you could do it!! Good for you!!

Hiya Fran!! Long time no see. How ya doin?

Deb, I'm proud of you. Sounds like you're doing great, at coils anyway. I think we both need to work on this sleeping crapola.

Actually, the plastic "plug ring" does work very well. It's a full ring with only one tapered plug that goes into the fill hole, and when you attach the base cap it compresses it and forces it solidly into the hole. I've been using mine that way with good results. Nice to not need anything but a fingernail to fill :)

And yes, indeed, don't lose the insulating grommets that seal the glass, or it will leak! These are similar to the ones on Kanger PT2 and the like.

No, don't have my first coil. The "slot car" I built it for is long gone, too....

But a big congrats! See, it's not that hard! And once it's stuffed with wick and down inside your topper, nobody's gonna see it anyway :) Unless, of course, you put up a pic...

Regarding logos... Most any product or corporate one will be a registered trademark. While an individual could probably get away with making up one for personal use, any company trying to market them could be in for some serious litigation - that they'd lose. So in that instance, getting the approval of the TM owner is a must. For government ones, maybe contact the PR people at the nearest base for a start? Unless the company or agency has a policy against use by certain product types, seems to me they'd be happy for the free advertising. But then, I'm not a company, so what do I know? (Remember when Kodak got worked up about Paul Simon's "Kodachrome" hit.... sheesh, you get upset about tradmark infringement when your product name is a big hit???)

You would think so, but the government is just as litigious as the rest of them. There is a central PR office up at the pentagon (might be one for each branch, which means the Air Force is going to be the worst, buncha wusses) that's in charge of that stuff and of course a board that has to approve the use. I doubt anything connected with vaping is going to be high on their approval list. Remember this is the same bunch of lunkheads that run the FDA.

So, this means all my old Navy unit stuff is trade marked now???

Of course but, we're authorized users! Or at least we damn well better be. Now they're not going to have to worry about the uniform itself, couldn't get into if you held a gun to my head. Cleaning out the closet the other day and came across my last kakhi jacket. I could get it in and even zip it up but, a good 10" of gut hung out in front. Should taken a picture.

Once everything is in place, positioned and tight I use the PBusardo method of wiggling it until the tail breaks off. Can't trim it any tighter than that. ☺

Sure you can. Just make sure it's tight. In coil making you can try anything you want. The coil will let you know if you did it wrong.

Only saw the first half. You need to not do the Tivo thing. We can't talk about it real time when you do. I wouldn't want to make a snarky comment about some big play only to spoil the surprise for you!

I tried the etching cream first. Apparently, pyrex glass is a bit too dense for the cream. I've etched a few mirrors and glasses with no problems, but even leaving the cream on until it dried didn't etch those tanks.
I got a small home sand blast kit from Michaels and it worked just fine. It's a can of compressed air and a jar that has the sand in it.

You just broke my heart but saved a lot in frustration, thank you. I'll look at Jo-Ann's next time we're down there. Looks like they are about $35-40 though.

Ah ha! She has tubes for the Nautilus. Now, if she just had some neat graphic designs instead of mostly FLORALS & BUTTERFLIES...

ETA: Military & auto emblems, college & pro sport logos, etc

But she does have one 0mg probably can't live without. It really would look sharp on top of Little Miss Attitude. 2. Nautilus (5ml) Dragon - Bedazzle Glass Tubes :D

Does anyone know what kind of place would carry glass bottles about 100-120ml. Preferably some type of store. I need to get about 10 and the shipping on them is more then the bottles cost. Maybe a home brewing and wine making place would. Or a pharmacy supply.

Check amazon. They have tons of all sizes...
