I just tried using about half as much KGD as the rayon I usually use in my Big Buddha. I thought it would be too little, but it's actually working well so far. On my previous build with KGD, one of the wicks was completely burnt through. I think I just packed it too tight and the wick didn't stay wet enough.

Cut the wick to be about the same width as the inside of your coil. It will look flat but it swells up once you put juice on it. That's what I saw on a VarosVaper video. At least I think it was him. It's worked with every wick I've done.

Ack! I just got an order from them yesterday! I really like them, good selections all from one place. Can't beat that.

Yup, me too! That's the big order that showed up in the mailbox just this morning. Sadly, that didn't stop me from ordering again. There are a few flavors that I just love, and that like a good steep.

thanks so much to all who responded re: etched tubes. you are all so kind!

A little big of nostalgia here.....I heard about ecigs on the internet and wanted to find out more and came across this site. That was, let's see....about 2009. I travel for work on a weekly basis from Ohio and I'm on planes all the time. Pretty hard to do for a smoker. I was working in SF at the time. I ordered a Joye 510 which seemed to be the most popular at the time and had it shipped home to Ohio and picked it up when I got there. I gave it a try and never looked back. Haven't touched an analog since. This forum really helped me get started but once I moved on from San Francisco, I stopped coming here. I'm still vaping the 510 which still works for me (imagine my horror when I found out most people had moved on from the 510!). I used to vape in the smoking lounge in the Atlanta airport and would go outside to vape along with the other smokers at work. I am glad to say I converted a few to vaping and had plenty of conversations with smokers in the smoking lounges in the airport and I still try to advocate vaping over smoking. I vape at work, discreetly, of course, and I even vape on the plane when no one is looking (they claim that it's not allowed, but no one ever sees it) I hold the darn thing in my hand all day and sometimes fall asleep with it (much better than falling asleep with a lit cigarette!) I even hold it in my mouth when I'm typing, like I am now. One day, I was at home and couldn't find it and was going from room to room looking for it and my daughter said, "umm, Mom, it's in your mouth". I haven't been able to live that one down... I'm back here now because I'm wondering if anyone has any information on another ecig like the 510 that; 1) doesn't leak so much; 2) has the same approximate size; 3) has a better atomizer life. Mine are dying within a week and it seems like they used to last for at least a month. Batteries I don't have much trouble with. I have two PCC's on me at all times and keep them charged up all day. I ordered some additional atomizers and some of them were different...they had a little point at the end instead of the little cotton thing inside and they seemed to work better but wore out quicker, I think. I also ordered a different variation of the 510 that had a tip that you are supposed to put the e-liquid in that didn't require the cotton batts but I couldn't figure out how to use it right. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Oh, and when I am home and not on the road, I LOVE to sit on my porch with a cup of coffee and my e-cig.

I feel much better now!

Good grief. We've been so busy over this past month with the holidays and the birth of our first grandson and our daughter visiting from Colorado, mostly to visit her first nephew. Today everybody went home and we're quiet and looking around wondering what just happened!! I was trying to keep up on the thread, but it was futile I tell you! Futile! (That really is a weird sounding word when you say it often enough) Anyway, I forgot what I was going to say with most of the posts I marked to reply to. So, today I got caught up, sort of. Let me just say WELCOME to Modapa and any new peoples who dropped in! And Littlebird, don't worry, I've been at this for 3 years and still have to look it up. I just bookmark it. Then I skip that step and just ask Mike...
Now I'm going to bed and will check out whatever I missed in the morning. Whew.

In my opinion, the jolt of starting to vape instead of to smoke is PLENTY enough of a different experience for anyone. Having a flavor that is at least reminiscent of the tobacco that the person smoked before trying vaping is desirable. I know I wouldn't have even considered a flavor that wasn't tobacco+menthol, having been a Newport addict for so long.

My first vape was peach and it blew me away. I never even finished my pack of cigarettes I was working on when my first rig showed up. Can't stand any baccy flavors and that floored me. Would have thought I'd want tobacco flavors, but it didn't work that way with me. I think tobacco flavors reminded me of smoking and I knew I was done with that. works different with everybody.

When I first started vaping, I worried that it would be different enough from smoking that I'd still want a cigarette. But, within a day or two I realized that I was still getting everything I needed from the vapor, and that the one bottle of caramel macchiato I got was much tastier than the four bottles of tobacco flavor. Guess which one I finished, and which ones are still sitting in my desk :)

My wife quit smoking with me and tried vaping. Didn't take to it at all. Said she wasn't going to substitute one habit for another and it reminded her of smoking. She quit cold turkey and hasn't had one since. Second time she's done that. Quit with me the first time I did and started back when I came back from deployment 4 years later (no wasn't deployed 4 years, just had been quit that long) and was smoking. Didn't say why she started back up but I think she didn't want the kissing an ashtray thing and I was under a lot of PTSD stress.

Dunno if anyone will see this tonite or not, but wanted to find out....... am I right in the following thinking?

I'm doing a single coil on the ADI

When I go to hook it up, I hook up the positive post first, with the silicone thingy right?

Does it matter which leg goes on the positive one? I'm thinking not. It may have to do with however it fits, but I don't reckin the coil itself has a negative or positive leg does it? I haven't thoroughly inspected it, but it seems like the leg on the right might fit better on the + post.

Doesn't matter which leg goes to which post.
Or which post you secure to first - As long as you have one leg secured to the positive and one leg secured to the negative.

thanks wolf! Thought I'd heard you had to do the + post first but that's good to know that it don't matter. I couldn't imagine that it would matter which leg was which, but figured I better check before I blew sumpthin up! lol

Vape, not smoke. I am promoting non smoking terminology. I said in a previous post that I think one of the biggest mistakes was when they named them electronic cigarettes. Called down unwanted attention.

You got that right 100%. Even now I say to people "personal vaperizor" formerly know as an e-cigarette.

Now which post goes on in which order may make a difference in ease of assembly,
