Glad you clarified that, Bubba. ;)

The entire west coast--California, Oregon, Washington--is under assault from these over stuffed idiots.

Sloth, you've probably heard about all of this and sorry to drop it on you after class if you haven't, but http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ss-awareness-availability-vapor-products.html

ETA: What Oregon has up its sleeve so far this year:

SB 190
Prohibits online sales of electronic cigarettes and smokeless tobacco.

SB 340 (same as HB 2546)
Prohibits sales to minors
Adds use of e-cigarettes to Oregon’s Indoor Clean Air Act
And prohibits use of e-cigarettes in a motor vehicle where a minor is present.

HB 415
Flavor Ban.

HB 417
Requires vapor retailers to acquire a license from the OR Liquor Control Commission
Stipulates distances from schools (1000ft, no grandfather clause) as well as allocating funds collected from licensing fees to the state’s tobacco control fund.
Prohibits free giveaways, discounts, and coupons.

HB 2074 (same as HB 2134)
Imposes 65% wholesale tax on vapor products (including devices)

HB 2558
Would classify nicotine as a schedule III controlled substance

I knew about SB 340, SB 415, and HB 417. I didn't know about SB 190, HB 2074, or HB 2558. They're sprouting up like mushrooms.

So nicotine is a class III substance, unless it's included in healthy non-cancer causing cigarettes. Makes perfect sense to me.

I can already tell I'm going to get a lot of use out of this picture:

Hellooooo out there!!!!!
My first post outside the New Members forum, and I thought I'd say "Hi" to all you nice people.
My name is Bob, and I've been Vaping since Nov. 2013 Don't know if I qualify as "Old" (I'm 52 this year) but after lurking for a while, this just seemed like a nice place to be.
I started smoking at 14, and for the last 10 years, or so was smoking 30-40 hand rolled non filters a day. A co-worker, with an ITaste 134 mod got me interested in vaping, and I got an eGo style starter kit, not long after that. Two days later, I threw away my last bag of tobacco.
The starter kit morphed into a Gravity twist, and a Kanger PT2. Looking for a battery with USB charging/pass-thru capability got me an ITaste VV V3.0. A broken PT2 (The 510 threads on those are a SERIOUS weak spot) and I replaced it with an IClear X-I.
On my birthday, last year, My wife (Now she's after me to quit VAPING too) made my vape disappear. I suffered through the rest of the day, and the next day, after explaining the difference between vaping, and smoking, and flatly telling her that if/when I quit vaping is MY decision, not hers, I bought an ITaste MVP 2.0/IClear 30 kit (She still doesn't like it, calls it a crutch, but some choices we simply CAN'T make for other people, even the ones we love. I'd have gotten more than a few people off of booze/pills if that were the case)
This past Christmas, I bought an Aspire Nautilus to put on my MVP, which brings my hardware history (and some personal info) up to date.
My take on the vaping "Scene" is that it's a lot like fishing, or golf, or a lot of other hobbies we enjoy. We can have a perfectly satisfying experience with cheap, off the shelf equipment (A basic Zebco rod/reel, second hand clubs, simple eGo/16b setup) or we can get as complicated as we like (Custom golf clubs/fly rods, hand tied flies, one off mods, DIY coils/juices) I really don't know how far I want to go in that direction, but I get the best gear I can afford, and the vape shop near my house does custom blends for me I'm STILL tobacco free, with all the health improvements that come with it. I think I'll hang on to my "Crutch" The alternative was killing me.

Hellooooo Bob!!!!! Congratulations on quitting smoking and welcome to the porch!

I can’t get past your wife hiding your gear. If my husband had done that, there’d be hell to pay. I smoked when I met my husband, he watched me try and try again to quit and he’s the one that came home and told me about the ecig that finally got me off cigarettes.

Does your wife think nicotine is a carcinogen? It’s not, it’s similar to caffeine. Nicotine is in cauliflower, eggplant, potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, etc. nicotine is used for Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, Tourette's, ADD, schizophrenia, digestive disorders and so on. Nicotine is in a lot of teas. The problem is probably that she doesn’t understand vaping and the folks here have given you some good advice on where to find information for her. If she still refuses to understand, please feel free to vent here. We’re a very understanding and sympathetic bunch.

Hi Bob, welcome to the porch! I'm also in my early 50s, but no one has kicked me out yet :)

Bob, it wasn’t for lack of trying http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...g-front-porch-part-three-17.html#post14826609 But he did earn our respect and we’re enormously happy to have him now. Usually.

FYI, from https://www.erowid.org/ask/ask.php?ID=2972:

Q: What are the penalties for posession of a Schedule III (i.e. Vicodin) or Schedule IV (i.e. Valium or Xanax) substance without a prescription?

I was told the only time it's illegal is with Schedule II drugs which you must have a prescription for in order to possess. If possession of a Schedule III or Schedule IV substance is illegal, what kind of penalties might be imposed, is it just a misdemeanor?
A: The federal and state laws can be extremely complex, but I can give you some basics:

Possession of a scheduled substance without a prescription is definitely illegal.

First offense for possession of a schedule III substance (federally) carries a penalty of not more than a $250,000 fine and/or 3 yr in prison. First offense for possession of a schedule IV substance carries a penalty of not more than a $100,000 fine and/or 1 yr in prison. Penalties go up for a second or third conviction.

Possession of a personal use amount of a schedule III or IV substance without a prescription is extremely unlikely to be prosecuted federally. This means that in most cases this sort of thing would be prosecuted at the state level. Penalties vary depending on the state.

Many states have drug diversion programs where possession of small personal use quantities of even schedule I substances result in treatment and/or a probationary period after which the offense no longer counts as a conviction.

We aren't sure, but we don't believe that a person is required by law to carry their prescription with the medication. Generally this means that if questioned about a prescription medication by law enforcement...it may be best to refuse to answer questions until a lawyer is present (as usual).

Guess I'll have to switch over to smoking the other stuff if I want to stay out of prison.

I wonder if they are even aware that the patch and gum, not sure about lozenges, are FDA approved for 12 and up. I'm really having difficulty with the stupidity of what they've been saying lately and the damage they are doing to people who now might not quite smoking via vaping because of the flat out lies they are spreading. It's propaganda for and by BT and BP. It's just astounding.

This is what I have to say about that:

Lemony Snicket said:
It is a curious thing, but as one travels the world getting older and older, it appears that happiness is easier to get used to than despair. The second time you have a root beer float, for instance, your happiness at sipping the delicious concoction may not be quite as enormous as when you first had a root beer float, and the twelfth time your happiness may be still less enormous, until root beer floats begin to offer you very little happiness at all, because you have become used to the taste of vanilla ice cream and root beer mixed together. However, the second time you find a thumbtack in your root beer float, your despair is much greater than the first time, when you dismissed the thumbtack as a freak accident rather than part of the scheme of a soda jerk, a phrase which here means "ice cream shop employee who is trying to injure your tongue," and by the twelfth time you find a thumbtack, your despair is even greater still, until you can hardly utter the phrase "root beer float" without bursting into tears. It is almost as if happiness is an acquired taste, like coconut cordial or ceviche, to which you can eventually become accustomed, but despair is something surprising each time you encounter it.

This is what I have to say about that:

So we should put thumbtacks in the politicians' drinks? I'm all in for that. Wish I could think of something wittier to say. Some of these proposals are so outlandish that maybe even non vapers/smokers will get POed.

Ran into a pal of yours.

All this doom and gloom is always in the back of my mind. When I think about whether I should buy something off the classies or something on sale, I'm really thinking about whether or not I'll ever get another chance later to get this item for vapocalypse.

I don't have a lot of money. So, if I don't buy something when I do have a few dollars to spare, I may not have even those few dollars to spare for a long time, until after it's too late.

For example, there's a Penelope V1 in the classies right now. It's more than I can really afford, but cheap for a Penelope. It's an authentic, quality item that would be very helpful if things got too expensive from excessive taxes. But, since it's a V1, I'm afraid it may be too finicky for me to handle. I don't want to risk that much money when money is so tight.

It's like each purchase becomes a gamble. Will this item be really useful? Or, will it be money wasted that will keep me from getting something else that would have worked better?

I wish I could just relax and enjoy the experimenting. Buy cartomizers and batteries, then relax and buy whatever I truly WANT when I have a little spare cash. Like those silly Kuro coilers in the pretty colors or the cute little Erlkonigen clone that FT has.

I'm getting way too stressed about this!

I'm stressing too. I have several pages up ready to order some stuff. I'm also over-the-top angry right now. For instance, Washington wants to tax a drip tip at 95% but taxes "other stuff" at 25%? It makes no sense. And it's all based on fear mongering lies.

The Koiler at FT is $2.69 for one size right now or a Universal kit for $7.11 $7.11 Universal Tools Wire Coiling Tool w/ Phillips & Slotted & Hex Key Screwdriver Bits - red / 3.5mm + 3.0mm + 2.5mm + 2.0mm winding rods at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping. Mine's been somewhere between LA and here for several days now. Even just between all of us on the porch right now, we'd all help out folks that got caught short if something passed quickly or couldn't afford to nail down all their orders in time. I don't care for being made to feel like a criminal because I quit smoking.

NEWS FLASH

Y’all ain’t safe, in fact, y’all are gonna die. Made the gruesome mistake of looking at the news before shutting off the computer. I has been reeducated by the venerable California Department of Public Health tonight.

Electronic cigarettes contain at least 10 chemicals known to cause cancer or birth defects, according to the report the California Department of Public Health released Wednesday. And while they are widely marketed as smoking cessation devices, “there is no scientific evidence that e-cigarettes help smokers successfully quit traditional cigarettes,” the report says.

This is exactly WHY I bought the REOs and the Provari. It is also why I have about a dozen really simple drippers and 4 other lesser quality mechs. I have a lifetime supply of Nic in my freezer.

Hardware and nic are the chokepoints. Get that covered and you should be fine.

I also have been stocking heads for my protanks and CE5s. They won't last forever but they can be rebuilt which will extend them outward for years, considering I am still rebuilding the original 20 or so heads I started with when I started vaping over a year ago.

I also have the 2 divers I bought for my carto tanks. They are fiddly but they do work and will extend the use of those. I still regret not getting the sophia instead.

I first found out about all this mess about a week after I started vaping. I've been in doomsday prep mode since.

Edit: I also figured out how to convert a premade blu carto into a dripper just in case that sort of vaping manages to survive all this and I got desperate. It aint great but it does work.

All the doom and gloom is a big part of why I take vacations from EFC at times. It sets off my panic attacks. I would tell people to make a plan at this point and slowly but surely get yourself as well setup as you can manage in what time we have left. Having a plan helps a ton.

OK - find at least ONE mech mod you can use that doesn't appear to be very breakable. I've got a Hammer mod. Heavy, but vapes very well.
Stock up on nic, or know someone who can DIY nearby.
also same for recoiling... have the stuff or know someone who does and will help - just in case
Then you can relax and get just what you want, and nothing else, because you are covered.

The lies are getting bigger and bigger. It's time they got called on the lies. As a matter of fact, the lies have gotten so blatant and so far from defensible by feigned ignorance that it's time the liars start being prosecuted.

I posted this over I the General Discussion forum, but it just disappeared for lack of interest...

I responded to a CBS article on their web-page today. It is not my first. I have log-ins for ABC and CBS. I comment on articles as need, generally vaping relatedly.

If anyone has a suggestion for other pages that I should monitor, I would appreciate a link. We need to get our message out.

Thanks!

Note: If anyone has a good link, let me know.

There are no flys in PA in January. I cry foul!

There are in my house.

Are those Russians?

Sent with no malice and not a whole lot of forethought from my new Galaxy Tab 4. Thanks Santa!

Yes - the 2 in the middle are original R91's and one on the end is a Version 2.0 w/ the airflow / filler ring.

Don't you have a Russian v2? If so, where did you get it?

I got it from a co-op on another forum site. Only got 1 because I wasn't sure I'd like it. Now that it's become my fav - I haven't been able to find it for sale anywhere. If you find one someplace, please let me know.

Shes down to about 4 a day now. Still working.

that's wonderful!!! So glad that upping her nic is helping!!

My Freedom Smokes is really bad too. They have the Vision Eternity on sale for cheaper than FT. I've had my eye on it for a long time, so couldn't resist. But, the site is so bad that it makes my laptop fan go crazy trying to keep my computer from overheating.

Solution? I ordered it from my phone instead. Their mobile website works great!

You might try that for Mad Vapes too.

that's odd, MFS loads great for me, but madvapes is very slowwwwww

Angelcigs has (had?) some Zenith's on clearance for only $5.00. They even came with a screw-in 510 post for bottom feeding. Last I looked the one with the gold color AFC ring was the only color choice left.

Not that it matters, but it was the copper one that was the last to sell out, and it is sold out now, just checked. I've been looking at these several times each day for the last 2 wks or so, trying so hard to get a couple of them since they have BF pins (trying to get something cheap I could use if/when I ever get a Reo). My son couldn't get his paypal to work, so when I finally to do my own paypal and have him put the money in it, my bank called and said a lot of cards in my area had been cloned, so they cancelled my card and were sending me a new one. Really??? My card wasn't one compromised, they just decided to shut it down anyhow. I appreciate their being on top of things, but the timing sucked! They said I'd have to wait for the new one to attach it to the pp acct, and I really wasn't comfortable attaching my bank account. I was thinking about doing it long enough to get these, but by that time they were nearly out, and I knew they would be out before I could get it set up and the money xfrd.

On a better note........I just saw a really great report on Fox news, America's newsroom with bill hemmer....it was Dr Marc Seigal, who I often disagree with, but in this case he was VERY pro vaping. He did mention that there needs to be some regulation, but emphasized several times that it's NOT smoke! It's vapor. He did say some carcinogens were present in the exhaled vapor, wish he would have stated it's likely miniscule amounts compared to cigs, but other than that it was really great.

So if nic is designated "class III" then the patch, gum, lozenges - and BLU - will require a prescription. Does BT/BP know about this assault on their business model??

they'll just tax the crap out of everything and the insurances will have to pay it.
