I wish there was a way to collect the data to calculate and analyze what would happen to the world;s economy and the world's governments if every one in the world just went cold turkey and quit smoking, vaping, snus, etc... all at one time... I think it would shock many.

All I'm getting, from a fast search, is from 2012.

Revenues from global tobacco sales are estimated to be close to $500bn (£316bn), generating combined profits for the six largest firms of $35.1bn – more than $1,100 a second.

Global profits for tobacco trade total $35bn as smoking deaths top 6 million | Business | The Guardian

I did a quick check, but the data is probably not complete. State and Local tobacco Tax Revenue from 2012 for the US was 17,605,937,000. New York led with almost $1.7B.

Exactly! That's what would shock people. By being demonized and sin-taxed to death, smokers are supporting the government. And, the government has become very addicted to all that sin-tax.

The cigarette companies have to work for the money. The government just passes laws and rakes in the money. Not that I'm any happier with Big Tobacco than I am with Big Government.

I followed a ling to: 5 Respected Scientists Weigh In On Ecigs - ChurnMag

While I was there I saw: The Most Ridiculous Ecig Lawsuit We’ve Ever Seen - ChurnMag

Although it will probably be thrown out of court because the company never made any such claims, I would rather see the focus lie on all the evidence to show how safe ecigs are and to, in effect, publicly and legally show that the media and government are lying.

I can dream.

I stick 50w / I stick 50w / I stick 50w - I am so tired of hearing it for every new member that enters the door - you would think they all owned stock in the company or something.
It's always something, isn't it? For a while, it was the MVP.

I, personally, don't see the point in the Istick50. I understand the Istick 30. It's like an easier to carry, less long and skinny eGo battery. But, once you get that little bit bigger (iStick 50), why not just get a mod instead of a battery?

Yep that is my point. If you get something that lets you swap out batteries - you carry an extra batt - not an extra mod and if you ever upgrade the batts can go with you in the upgrade - money saved.

In the first article, there are no Americans supporting ecigs. I think it's a Brit publication though.

The second article says at one point:

If ecigs were truly as damaging as cigarettes, the FDA would certainly have jumped in to take fast action to squash the vaping movement before it ever really started. Instead, they have wavered on regulatory proposals repeatedly and can’t seem to make a decision one or the other.

They did. But they saw them as damaging to BT and BG. I would like to see Lorillard have to explain exactly what is in their liquids, especially seeing as they get a free pass in most of these new bills.

At home I use my external battery mods, but when I travel the iStick 50 is great for not having to recharge all the time (lasts me several days and recharges easily with the same cable I use for my phone), nor messing with batteries and a charger. Just handy for me on the road.

I liked a thread a while back - Is the Istick the new Provari?

Hey Provari is privileged with its own link...

That comparison went down in flames and the OP thought better of the way it was worded by the end of page one I think. ProVape is a registered supplier here so gets the link.

Excellent point!

I know - I got a good chuckle at the thread when I saw the title...

I think the consensus was the the iStick is the new Twist/Spinner (rather than the new Provari).

And that's pretty fair. Really glad I started with a plain ego type and didn't have to worry about vv/vw. Might not have made it.

I don't even like the IStick 50w. Too many reported problems and I just don't like the feel of it. However I do like the 20w and 30w.

You're right, I don't even follow the iStick and have heard of a lot of problems with them.

Yabbut, Bill Gates is gonna send me $1 every time somebody reads a post in which I've praised the iStick 50W. Isn't he? Plus, it's a game changer!

Anyway, I've quickly become a fan boy of both the iStick 30 Watt and the iStick 50 Watt. No replaceable-battery mod matches the features of either one in such compact form.

I mock overuse of the phrase "game changer" every chance I get. In general, though, I eventually give in to the enthusiasm when the accolades are strong and loud enough, and I'm usually glad that I do.

"Next best greatest things" I've been happy I yielded to:
Spinner
Vamo
Replaceable coil clearos
Kanger T3 clearos
Variable wattage mods in general
VTR mod
Innokin i30S clearo and coils
Cloupor DNA 30 mod
Aspire clearos and coils in general
Nautilus
BVC for Nautilus
iStick 30W and iStick 50W

"Next best greatest things" I've used but never embraced:
Drippers in general
Relatively inexpensive RDAs and RBAs
Stainless steel mesh wicks
VV Gripper (loved it but it died of frailty before the wedding)
MVP

"Next best greatest things" that I've never tried:
Provari, Reo, Billet Box
Kayfun, Russian, or any other new RDA or RBA since the first of those highly praised ones came out
Nickel wire*
Temperature control*

*still might try one of these days

Haven't been to this forum before. Haven't been to ecf in a long time, but it was here that I began. Lots has happened since I last posted, but I am still vaping....2 years and 5 months now. After 45 years on analogs, I am quite amazed that I got through a lot of high stress and didn't reach for a pack....as I always have done in the past. I have seen a lot of familiar names, and a whole lot of new ones....this is a great forum, and glad to be a part of it.
Welcome to The Porches, Wanda! Belated welcome, but late counts, right?

good observation

The 30 watt iStick is perfect for beginners, IMO. I started with those spinner batteries and they couldn't keep up, even though I was tootle puffing at 1.8 Ohm with Aspire ETS tanks. They always needed to be charged and would die after 2 weeks. Two of the Innokin spinners died on me and my local shop refunded the money both times. Once I got an iStick, I could finally just vape instead of waiting for the spinner to recharge.

I remember when I bought the 30, that seemed like a whole lot of money to spend on vaping.

My :2c:

I didn't like the iStick 20, flimsy 510 and poor power regulation. I use R91's and Kayfuns and I don't like them on top of the 30. So for me it was the 50. The 50 lasts me 5+ days w/ heavy use on 1 charge and I like the way it fits my hand. I can go away for a couple days and not worry about taking extra batts. If I leave the house for a day w/ any of my other single batt mods, I'm sure to take 1 extra batt per mod just because even an 18650 doesn't last me an entire day.

I'm aware it has issues, blinking display, auto-firing, burring up (oh my!), etc. I'm just gambling I don't have one of the defective ones. They probably don't tell the newbies about it's problems. If it didn't have these issues, I likely buy another one.

I really do believe we are going to be faced with some harsh regs. Anything bought online will have to be signed for with ID. You'll be able to count all the different flavors on two hands. And everything will be expensive as smoking.

edit:

and that is a best case scenario
