I'm going to fall right here into this thread without going back and reading the thousands of posts. I've been vaping since February this year after having been a PD smoker for 33 years. vaping helped me quit the analogs, started vaping and never looked back.

Hello and welcome to the front porch Inka. Since this thread is in the general forum area, we do our best to stay on vaping topics. We also have a back porch where we can open the 'talk' to just about any subject. We just start a Part 4 thread for the back porch here.

Question, how does juice get on the part of the battery that fires the coil? Just noticed that.

Another common way juice gets 'under' the topper is just condensation that builds up. Vapor not inhaled into your mouth/lungs sometimes exits the air holes of the atty and condeneses and finds it's way under the topper.

My istick 50 has done that a few times. I suspected that vapor spray out of the holes were causing it to do that, because juice is sticky, so I started wiping down the mod with a damp cloth around the fire button. Hasn't done it anymore.

I can't read the smiley's lips so I don't know if he's asking "why?" or if he's saying "I don't know."

But if he's asking why no flavorings are "officially" for vaping, I think there are good and valid reasons. I don't see how a company could say that their flavorings were certified safe for vaping without asking for trouble. Certified how, and by whom?

I just don't see and never have seen where TFA has done that. They have MSDS data sheets, which is not the same as testing and would not include diacetyl and AP amounts that are too small to be considered significant for ingestion, but which could be far too much for vaping.

I saw a link for "test results" on the TFA site but it leads nowhere as far as I can tell, and no actual test results seem to be available.

As Dr Farsalinos pointed out last year, many flavorings which claimed to have no diacetyl or AP actually did contain them, in amounts which would make it safer to be working in a popcorn factory adding artificial butter flavor.
WLs tells you if their (TFA) flavors had or might have any of the bad stuff in it. For example, with their Dairy Milk concentrated flavoring it warns "*** Note: This flavor contains 'custard' ingredients: Acetoin & Acetylpropionyl." WLs also says, "All Wizard Labs flavor concentrates are undiluted, full strength concentrates from the manufacturer, and contain no Diacetyl." It appears that WL has discontinued any flavors that do contain Diacetyl and warn about the others. The best we can do is keep on our own toes and try to keep each other informed. Five Pawn fiasco keeps coming to mind.
Yeah I think it should be pointed out to any newbies. Not a good idea to head to the local grocery store for flavors to vape. Just cuz it's deemed safe to eat does NOT mean it's safe to inhale.
Exactly, and if that flavoring has oil in it, you are in a heap of big steaming trouble.
Visited a new B&M shop. Tasted lots of flavors. Decided on vanilla, and the guys the shop added extra sweetener for me. It's simple, I like it. I did get the 18 mg, the pg/vg is 65/35. Very smooth, no cough when inhaled. This is the first shop out of four I've visited that has offered to make a juice sweeter for me and they offered to mix flavors if I wanted that too. Good customer service is a rarity.
Yes! Stick with them. Wait until you order online (from a reputable place), many of them do a stupendous job. Little mind blowing.
Officially no flavorings are for vaping. At least capella, tfa, etc.
I know of none that are approved for inhaling. Then again, there's lots of FDA approved drugs that will kill you even when taken properly. But, use flavors that have been developed with ecigs in mind.

He does look a little bewildered, doesn't he?

More of a 'Why are ya vaping any flavors at all?' emoticon. And 'which ones do ya vape?' And also agreed, why would any flav manufacturer make the reach to lay their necks 'on da block' in an infant industry without the testing that would satisfy all vapers and regulatory agencies?

My bottom DIY line is that I vape no 'oils' or 'custurds' (sic). Been following those two guidelines for 52 months and would gladly submit myself to intensive (non-invasive pre-autopsy) scrutiny!

I'm more concerned 'bout my improved health than reading emoticon lips...

Pre-autopsy? Agree with the oils and custurds (snicker), but some are being reformulated. We'll see how that goes. I know I'm doing a heck of a lot better and love watching my doctor scratch his head over it. "Yeah, uh, your EKG is actually better than the last one."
Remember, breathing anything but air is not really a good idea. But vaping beats smoking by miles!
I actually try not to breath the air when I'm in a big city.

Yep, had a full physical about 2 years after I started vaping - lungs were clearer and I had 18% more lung capacity - so at least for me - the truth is in the pudding...

Yeah the diketone infested flavorings seem to be going away, why I am buying large quantities of them. I have about 2 years worth of Vanilla Custard V1, need to get more French Vanilla and Lemon Meringue pie V! and maybe another 4 oz bottle of Cinnamon Danish Swirl V1.

Most acrid air I have ever breathed was in Paris, France. Nose and throat would burn for the first 15 minutes or so when we started out for the day. This was back in 1994. I don't think they hade any emission control on vehicles. The busses were the worst! Love that city though. Would love to go back.

Anyway, I did a coil change and noted the tiny holes on the sides were blackened. I would guess that would be gunked up. The little holes in sides of the coils that are still in the package are white (at least what's inside them looks white).

That is very gunked! How old is that coil?
