Lots of peeps on this porch this morning! Must be one big porch!!'

Finding the Kanger Evod2 gets pretty hot at the center band after a few draws and if a draw is made while it is still hot, it tastes bad?? Your input appreciated. Thanks

Coil could need replacing , the juice could have too much vg in it for those coils as many of them have difficulty wicking juices higher than 50% vg.
Depending on your definition of hot could just be normal. Though too hot to touch is not good.

Robert, having taken physics over 30 years ago, I don't remember much of the electrical stuff. What will the difference between the 2.0 ohm and 1.8 ohm coil be? Thanks

If that's a fixed voltage battery, the higher resistance coil will give a slightly cooler vape.

As mentioned, chain vaping will produce heat. Even if only at, say, 8 watts... well, turn on an incandescent night light for a few seconds and touch it... and they're only 5 watts!

So some time between draws can help.

When the coil starts to gunk up, the tendency is to take longer draws to compensate, and that, of course, adds more heat. And the gunk itself, when heated enough, does taste, well, gunky:cry:

Welcome to the porch Misty. Always nice to have new folks join the fine folks on the porch. Maybe you could set up in the cab of your truck. Over in the modders forum there's a guy that has a machine shop setup in his can. Mills really nice box mods right there next to the drivers seat.
Thanks for the welcome. I'm sure I'll find the time to mix juice whole I'm at home. As a matter of fact I just pulled the trigger on a 1 liter bottle of 100mg nic at MyFreedomSmokes. On sale for $50 -17% coupon code +shipping still came out to less than $50. Think I done good. Now I need to go get the other stuff from my wish list on amazon.

If you haven't bought pg/vg yet, this may sound like a lot, but with a liter of nic sounds like you're really going to dive right in, so it's not. Essential Depot has great deals on gallons of pg/vg one gallon of each (or more) really cheap, free shipping. Not sure if there are coupon codes or not. Also you may want to get on the mailing list at ecig express, they just recently had 40% off nic which made a liter of 100mg 31.79, two of them would give you free shipping. I'm sure they'll do it again at some point. 1 Gallon Veg Glycerin + 1 Gallon Propylene Glycol - FREE US SHIPPING: Essential Depot

good for you for getting into this, you'll save a ton once you get your stuff. I do it super simple. I break my liter of nic into 120 ml glass bottles that I get at amazon. I use one of those bottles to make a little more than 1/2 a liter of nic base, then just pull up ever how much of that I want and add my flavoring when I make my flavored juice. The nic base is basically unflavored juice. I vape 24mg so the 120 ml bottle of nic makes just over 1/2 liter for me, but would make more if you vaped lower nic. Much luck and we're here for any questions you might have.

Thanks a lot for the heads up. Deal is done. I'm on my way!

Ever been suspicious that a juice you tried and purchased at a B&M shop is not the one you went home with? One of the new juices I picked up Saturday is a tobacco expresso flavor. When I tried it in the shop it had a mild sweet almost dark cocoa taste. Reminded me of candy we bought years ago at Whole Foods, dark chocolate rolled in expresso flavored cocoa. That was amazing! This juice has a very floral almost incense like after taste that I would call bitter rather that sour or sweet. It also smells like that in the bottle.

As I was waiting for the guy getting the juice I selected, he mentioned to one of the workers they were out of number something and the worker replied, but wasn't sure what he said. Is it possible I left with something added to the liquid to make up the difference for what they were out of. I'm old and maybe they thought I wouldn't notice or remember??

That's fantastic! Also just realized you're a fellow Texan, there are several of us on the porches. You're starting out great!! Many folks wait years before jumping into DIY.

Not impossible, but a place like that wouldn't stay in business long. Most likely it's that tobacco flavors and coffee flavors often need to steep a couple weeks possibly more to taste like they should taste. You can speed the process a bit by heat steeping, either in a crock pot with water on low for several hours or something like that. Let it breath with the top off to get the floral taste out, but it's likely gonna just have to sit for awhile. Wouldn't hurt to ask them about it though.

It will burn a bit cooler than 1.8 and be less likely to give burned flavor.

You are going to think I am crazy or neurotic by the time I fully get the hang of vaping. Question: am using the Kanger Evod2. When I put it down, I lay it on its side like I would a pen or pencil. Is it possible liquid is draining out of the coil causing bad flavor so when I use it again? Should it be kept upright, standing in a cup or whatever? Thanks

I am happy with the equipment I have now. Don't really need anything else. I have plenty of what works for me and never had to be "on the bleeding edge".

Leave tomorrow for 4 weeks on the road. 2 weeks (2 different show) in KY, the NJ for a week then the Cape for a week. Look forward to lobster on the Cape that I missed last year being home with old Spock. This will be Geordi's first road trip. Puppy in a motel room, always a thrill! ;)
Enjoy yourself! (And Geordi, too!)

Take it back. Let them smell or sample it. It should match what was in the store. Depending on steep time maybe.

You explained that very well David.....twice hehehe

Some things bear repeating??

(Actually, was having connection problems. Laptop is slowly downloading Win10 and taking up a LOT of bandwidth!! :-x So after 5 minutes looking at my post AFTER clicking post, I figured it got missed...)

No, that won't affect the flavor, Isabelle. As long as your topper doesn't leak and make a mess on the table, you're fine.

Some toppers WILL leak if not kept upright, but you'll know that in a hurry.

Worst case with a bottom coil topper (I think your Evod2 is one) would be if it's nearly empty. Might "drain" enough out to need to have it upright for a minute or so before vaping. But the wick itself would probably hold enough liquid so that would be extremely rare!

Likewise. As long as I have something that fools my brain into thinking I'm exhaling "smoke", that's all I need to stay clean! ;)

And since I like to change up flavors throughout the day, I rarely have less than two devices on me. Both will start the day freshly charged and filled, giving me 5 - 7 mls, so I'm set.
I agree, when I leave the house I usually take a second mod and tank along with a bottle of juice and a spare battery. Yeap, backup for my backup. hehe

Sitting at home I have different tanks with different flavors in them. I have a tendency to forget what is in which tank so I have a sheet of paper with the tank and flavor listed. I currently have 3 tanks on separate mods and 3 different drippers set up. I like a variety of flavors.
