Folks, I just heard from Caridwin (one of the mods) about closing the old and starting new threads. I told her 'yes, we are aware it needs to be done and have already started talking about it. As you know, Txtumbleweed was the originator of both the thread in the General Forum and the on in the Lounge. He PM'ed me, he would like someone else to take over. So I'm taking that on and asking Iffy to help. I told Caridwin, we work on it the next couple-few days, and let her know when the new threads are open. She will then close the old ones with a link to the new ones.

Here's my thought(s) for the two new threads.

Older Folks and Vaping Front Porch - Part 2 <---- for the General Forum
Older Folks and Vaping Back Porch - Part 2 <---- for the Lounge Forum

I liked keeping the original name from the general forum and adding "front/back porch" so it would be easier to know where you are - Front Porch for vaping topic, Back Porch for vaping and anything else we'd like to talk about..

I also like putting in a Part 2 just to denote it's a continuation of something else. I like using the same name for the lounge w/ Back Porch because it connects well to the thread in the general forum. And using porch in their names we can just nickname our threads, 'front porch and 'back porch when talking about them.

I'll open the new threads with an introduction and likely take a post or 2 or 3 from the old threads to get them started. Between iffy and I, we'll co-ordinate when the new threads will open and give ya-all a heads up.

So what do you think?

Well thought out and with you and Iffy at the helm, it should be a winner!!

And if you're a gadget guy, here's one I just ran across for building various size coils. Lock you wire under the screw, then twist the coil around the proper size pin.

They're available here for the next few days at least.

QVapes Coiler | Congrevape

Good news indeed!

those are one of 3 knock-offs i know of that have surfaced since ECF member darkzero introduced them. here's a look:

i've had mine for months and love it. PM darkzero if you want the real deal

Thought I'd let you know that things are looking up a little today. Finally got out to the house again with a new battery for the car and have transport again. The red cross is helping to find a place for the pets to stay and I got enough of of my favorite juice to get by with until my new order gets here. And Vaperite rushed the order for me so that should be soon.

And I haven't wanted a cigarette, which is truly amazing.

good for you amoret

what happened to your pets?...im a huge dog/cat lover over here in Miami. Unfortunately, if you find and help a pet in need down here on the street the city fines you a citation, even though I am not the owner, just helping out. The definition of "owner" in my opinion is one where you actually "paid" for the pet, with documents. But if, like me, you find a dog that needs help, animal services is a joke. add insult to injury, I am doing their job.

Ah, so glad to hear some good news. The weather out where you are didn't look good at all. I was even saying prayers for you when I woke up in the middle of the night! It sure sounds like at least a few things are falling into place for you. And you didn't even need to have a cigarette!! Yay!! Hopefully the Red Cross can find a temporary shelter for the pets (and that they can catch them!) and you stay warm in the Motel because it looks like there's more cold stuff on the way. Boy, this is one winter you won't be forgetting anytime soon! Thanks for letting us know and keep us posted.

Congratulations on the one year!
And I hope it's nothing too serious in the hospital... You able to stealth vape at least?[/QUOTE
I am about as proud of my year as anything else I have ever done. I,m sure that sounds pretty stupid to someone who has never been
hopelessly addicted and never thought quitting was even a possibility
On the less optimistic side, this was a very serious visit involving brain surgery (successful). I got the diagnosis all of us older long term
smokers have feared for years. This thread has been hit hard but I feel in no way these bad outcomes should degrade our accomplishment
of beating this addiction!

So glad to hear you're on the mend and I hope all goes well for you from here on in. It's great that you're already into vaping because it's got to help in the healing process. Keep up the good work and get well quickly!

Is "and vaping" really necessary for the back porch? Since that thread is not necessarily about vaping.

I'd vote yes because someone had already mentioned wanting to keep it in the name and I think Mike's idea encompasses most of the comments people made. And I'd be in favor of keeping the connection to Txtumbleweed too as well as the original reason for us to be on ECF. I like it, but then I'd pretty much go along with whatever was decided as long as I could still come here.

hmmm! Thanks for letting me know. Kind of nasty then, as on the Qvapes site they state "Patent Pending'. Did the take someones design and run for the patent office.

i dunno much about patents, but dz's jig has been around publicly since august or september. not sure what these guys are actually trying to patent.

i'm guessing the "patent pending" is just a sham. in any case, i suspect they are like the bastids guys that cloned Ben's website and took a copyright out on "Boba's Bounty"

to me, these guys are far worse than cloners from china...

Been thinkin' 'bout makin' one outta a part of an ol' hardwood ¾" bed slat that has been included in my last six moves; just couldn't toss it. Need to determine how to mount an adjustable pin vise to accommodate diff sized 'pins' fer coil wrappin'.

And also need to get a...

Is it harder for coils to heat up the larger tanks? Those larger tanks seem to hate me, lol. They all work great for a day and then I am sucking ice cream through a straw. I am seriously considering just going back to those little Ce4 disposable tanks which in the long run migh actually be cheaper than buying the nice large ones and not using them.... I want a bottom coil, with a top fill, that doesn't clog itself in one day (I'm a heavy vapor)... Am I the only one who has this problem with the bigger tanks? They just clog up and very little vapor and sucking like hell to get even that??? I've tried putting in a new coil and that doesn't fix it.. once it clogs, it's a doner... Wow - now it won't even crackle at all. Completely dead. That's the second large thank that died on me in one day... I did okay with the Mini IIs... perhaps I should not be greedy and just deal with the smaller portions and the stickyness....

why do they need to close the threads and start new ones?

big ole threads slow everything down, so they/we just open a new one with fewer posts. no big deal.

depending on whatcha think, the reason for long, long threads being slow and/or causing ecf to be slow overall is due to programmer error (ecf software is written by a 3rd party), or machine speed limitations imposed by either ecf or the company that hosts their servers.

i used to write this kind of software before my retiring.

by restricting the number of posts in a thread, ecf is taking the best steps they can to improve the forum, other than spending a b-load of $$$.

i applaud their initiative.

Interesting - thank you for explaining it... I know about as much about computers as I do about lamps... I can plug them in and turn them on and off, lol....

You've got the most important part down then. When I was doing tech support the niece of one of my coworkers asked her what she did at work. The coworker told her niece that she told people to turn there computers off and back on. If I'd been the one answering I would have said that I asked people to read me their computer screens.
