Kanthal A-1 30g, 5/6, 1.5 ohms. I normally use my small knitting needles to make coils since they are measured in millimeters, and I have them by me all the time lol (if at home).

You know, I never thought of using knitting needles but that is a great idea! lol Next time my wife bugs me to go to the craft store with her I might not protest as much being I can tell myself I am going for vaping supplies ;)

Chalice VII on left with 1.7 ohm micro coil 30 awg Kanthal A1. Chalice VI on right with 1.51 ohm micro coil 30 awg Kanthal A1.

The outside diameter of these coils is 1/16". A small rope of rolled cotton is inserted thru.

Vape qualities are exceptional, including vibrant flavor.

Thanks for teh info! My wife likes to go to Michaels so I will have to check it out and see what they have...I'll surprise her and ask "Hey, want to go to Michaels tonight?" lol

hehe Devilok... Can get the double pointed needle set in the mm that you want. Not too expensive and get four needles. All kinds of sizes too 2 mm, 2.25 mm, 2.5 mm... etc. They work great lol :vapor:

Hey! There it is! The point of origin for my sunday build. I must say, that was a very cool idea you had. Those are sweet coils. I see, super_x_drifter, yours are 1/16" on the OD. tiny! Here's my revised version with two dense wrap groupings for dual air hole. 26 Kanthal, .8Ω.

1/16" ID. not so tiny; but, man, that little mass of coils is a thermal exponentiator!

Very nice. I like the space between the groups. I need to try that next. The micros are amazing vapor producers. Initially I had a misconception (rather common one) that coils must be spread out. Actually, it is quite the opposite, I have found. The tighter the coil (scrunched together) and the smaller the ID, the better it vapes.

With the smaller dia coils, you can shoot for higher ohms and the flavor is very bright.

Thanks! I am glad that the micro is working good for you.

Yeah, I've been a slave to super low res. But this type of setup has me wanting to rise back up. Recently, I had been doing pretty much the opposite: say a 3/4 wrap of 26 gauge on a 5/32" wick. That is like enjoying a nice cigar. This is much brighter and more immediate; but I'll have to try something crazy hi-res like 1Ω, or maybe even something I can put on my vamo.

Well, money shot wise, that vapor is DENSE and opaque! Too cool. So it's enough to have the liquid at the doorstep? You're not going dry any quicker? I've been thinking of trying something like a lantern wick (or I think that's what I think it is, I think). I have this image of a lantern wick with a cage of mesh at the end of it, and the "action zone" is just past the tip of the wick. Does your mini have quicker response time this way? Flavor? Button press time same? (meaning, can you hold down the button as long as before?)

they have silica rope, i think that would be what's on lanterns. they should stay really juicy maybe too juicy to really vape. but if i can find some locally i'd definately try it. i can't remember where i say some. probably on ebay. i remember that they had them in 3mm. in the quest for finding a long lasting, juice sponge, with a clean vape i still love 100% pure cotton.

Well... I've only been using it for a couple of hours now... But, so far, it wicking extremely well. The last few time it's run dry, it open it up and the entire wick was dry and no pooling at the bottom... So it's wicking like a champ.
As far as a quick response time... Yea... It's pretty quick... But that has more to do with the wire gauge than anything. That and the tight/touching coils... Pretty much instant on and off.

I'm not picturing a "lantern wick"... The only thing I know about lanterns is the old propane Coleman lanterns that have the little Baggie things. If you find a pic, post it up. Sounds interesting.
