I really enjoy checking the pics from this thread to get new ideas and to learn from the vets :toast:

monday I want to try cotton again, all my past attempts failed miserably

currently using a simple figure 8 build, 30ga, 1.3ohms:

That dual coil you have pictures at the bottom on the ohm meter that says 0.24 sine the meter is reading a dual coil build at 0.24 your telling me they sine your suppose to split whatever the resistance is, then that coil is really 0.12?

Is that correct?

No sir. Each coil is .48 ohms, but when installed as dual coils, the resistance is already cut in half. If you plan on making twin coils and you only ohm out one of them, then you will end up with half of the resistance of that one coil when you are done installing both.

@4.2v it is 17.5A, 73.5w but its really closer to 3.9 under load (16.25A, 63.38w)

So your telling me all this time i have been running dual coils in my RDAs i have been reading them wrong?

For instance, If i install 2 separate coils in my RDA, Test the build on my Ohm meter after the build is finish and my Ohm meter says, 1.0 Ohms, Then the build is in fact, 1.0 Ohm? I don't need to split the reading in half? ( which would make it 0.50 Ohms ) The Ohm meter already calculates the half reading for you?

I was always under the impression that when i made dual coils ( 2 separate coils ) then whatever reading i got from my Ohm meter, I split that in half..

Wow, ok, Thanks so much for that info! I had it wrong all along.

What the ohm reader says is what it is, but don't push your batteries to the "limits". Idk about the atty ohm box's but I know that if you use a multi meter, the leads already have some resistance to them so you hold them together until you get a solid reading, then subtract that from your atty reading. My ohm box is dead on but that's because I got a defective one, took it apart, and modified it... if you look at the pic you can see where I burned it with my soldering iron. hahaha idc as long as it works good. I'm more of a "function over form" guy.

It isn't calculating anything. It is giving you the circuit resistance, which is the only thing it can do when you have dual coils mounted. There is only one positive and one negative in the circuit. Mount one coil on a dual coil atty and you measure that one coil resistance. Mount the other, and you measure the parallel resistance of both of them.
