Did you literally run a flame on the wick before installing it?

yeah buddy :D

I just read through again and had a look...only just realised you asked ^^ question ..

it seems i did it all kinda arss backwards but the 1st attempt was the best of 3..

yeah i realise now iteo is almost fully wrap/rolling the cotton before soaking or as hes rolling... i soaked at stage 1 and rolled it wet, but i did squeeze roll it tight so the juice was dripping off
the other two attempts i had to add cotton like you would putting a plaster cast on a broken leg to build it up... not so good cus as i twisted/pushed the wick in it moves the layers

maybe the thing to do is dry roll it for fit/size and then unroll, wet and roll back up .... i got lucky on the first go

after i had it rolled up oozing with juice i just held it with tweezers and set a flame to it... i think it maybe stiffens up the cotton... it was literally 1 or 2 sec's cus i realised on the end i started the flame that if left to long it would go yellow/brown(burnt)... so i just blew it out before the this stage<< this happens when you install it and burn the juice off to much to so maybe can be done either way

some of the juice ive made is quite clear but like you also mentioned wick diameter may be the reason of the transparency, the wick was quite solid when i installed it :)

i got some MUJI cotton pads in the post today so i have two things to experiment with now to stop me from recoiling for the sake of it.. here ya go i'll throw a pic up ... its pretty much the same as iteo method from what i can tell, its also compressed in the coil tight..

Flat hammered twisted 24 around a 3/64(if I remember correctly) at .45 ohms. It's defainatly interesting compared to regular twisted wire.

First try at iTeo wick.

0.34 ohms
7/64 in.
24 g
8 wraps

Detouche Taurus

I need to go with less wraps. Heats too slowly. I took a pad of Ko Gen Do cotton and spilt it in half. Rolled it. Soaked it. Really dense wick. I don't think I could pack it much more. Fed it through. Firm fit but not chocking in the coil. Rewetted. Fill juice well. Let it sit

Will see how it goes.

Edit: it works. Taste of cotton even with a full flavored juice like Cheesecake but after 22 good long pulls, no burning. Lots of vapor till pull 17 but still respectable after that. Flavor is getting better. Now just fill juice well and it soaks it all up. 33 drops before it hit the rim.

I may have to try that

It's pretty neat, I just wished I had some 26 or 28 to use instead. But if you do try it don't hammer it too hard, go slow with it because if your hammer it too flat then it becomes too brittle to make into a coil. Just so you know :)

have you tried putting the wire in a vice or pliers to squash it? might be more consistent

Why don't you just get Ribbon wire, it's assume that hammered or smashing wire wound be spotty...?

Only of you flatten it too much like I did in the first 2 inches. After that it want brittle at all and wrapped perfect.

So I've tried it now for a day. Never any burnt taste. Wick holds up very well. No collapsing. Always lots of vapor and 20 puffs before dripping. But I find the flavor is not as intense and the vapor is dry. Cooler too. I like moist. I will try tweaking the configuration to see if I can't alleviate that. I'll start with going down a wrap and decrease resistance.

About the iTeo wick method...

First I take a piece of old paper towel or tissue...

Seriously, the pictures did explain rather well how to create the wick but I couldn't find anything explaining what material was being used. Can someone help me out here?
