It's a Nikon D80 dSLR. 60mm micro Nikkor lens. f-stops somewhere between 3 and 7, longish (1.5-7 seconds) exposures so yeah, I gots to use a tripod.

The gear's a bit old now, but it was new when I got it. It does all the work, heh. I don't have much of an eye for framing and don't get much of a chance to shoot landscapes or portraits, which is what I'd like to do more of. This particular hobby of ours has given that lens a LOT of useful mileage though!

Quick question, What camera are you using? Lens/arpeture? love the field of focus on it.

If you go larger than 28 gauge you really need a regulated mod to push it higher.. I have nothing over 30 watts so with my mechs I find 28- 32 perfect.

I ran it on my ivp2 at 50 watts and that wasn't even enough. Definitely better than on a mech though. I think you are right... I will probably twist some 28 gauge together with higher resistance and throw it on the ipv2... Should be a lot better.

Nice, heaps better that my Sony nex-3... I really want a macro lens but my vape budget and newborn are not allowing for that lol. Plus this stupid sony E-mount... All the lens that fit are ridiculously expensive for a mediocre lens. I might just try to find a adapter and a 2nd hand macro. Focus wont work which will be difficult because of the screen only view finder lol. Should have dont my research haha.

anyway nice shots. Focus is on point.

Speaking of focus, before I was able to afford my macro lens, I was using a 50mm prime lens reverse-mounted on my camera. That was my "test" to see how often I would actually USE a macro lens before I spent the dough. That reverse-mounted setup actually worked really well, the only drawback being that it had a pretty shallow depth-of-field. Which turned out to also provide excellent bokeh so it was a fair compromise. :)

Been vaping this build for a week now and I really like it. It's a dual twisted 28 gauge wrapped parallel with a 26 gauge. 6 wraps on a 7/64 bit comes in at .28 ohms wicked with rayon. Lots of vapor, lots of flavor, kinda a best of the both worlds thing. Lets see if these pictures work;

This was taken with the first stovetop, single coil .5 ohm....I'll try and get one with my dual setup later, if this congestion I woke up with goes away
Sent with one hand, the other is busy vaping.

Looking good, Now I will have to try building one on my Dark Horse. What did you use for a jig? or did you do it free hand?

Free hand. Cut off the wire from the spool keeping it relatively straight. With a pair of small needle nose or jewelry pliers (I use the jewelry pliers, got em at WalMart), bend your first leg (the center one). With the leg at a 90 degree angle to the pliers, make your first wrap around the tip of the pliers, making it pretty tight. After that I just wrap each wrap around the preceding one, holding the coil flat on a table.

Okay now the method for the half blind, lol.
I wrap my coils under a desk magnifying light.
