If you go larger than 28 gauge you really need a regulated mod to push it higher.. I have nothing over 30 watts so with my mechs I find 28- 32 perfect.
Quick question, What camera are you using? Lens/arpeture? love the field of focus on it.

It's a Nikon D80 dSLR. 60mm micro Nikkor lens. f-stops somewhere between 3 and 7, longish (1.5-7 seconds) exposures so yeah, I gots to use a tripod.
The gear's a bit old now, but it was new when I got it. It does all the work, heh. I don't have much of an eye for framing and don't get much of a chance to shoot landscapes or portraits, which is what I'd like to do more of. This particular hobby of ours has given that lens a LOT of useful mileage though!
I might just try to find a adapter and a 2nd hand macro. Focus wont work which will be difficult because of the screen only view finder lol. Should have dont my research haha.
anyway nice shots. Focus is on point.

This was taken with the first stovetop, single coil .5 ohm....I'll try and get one with my dual setup later, if this congestion I woke up with goes away
Sent with one hand, the other is busy vaping.
Looking good, Now I will have to try building one on my Dark Horse. What did you use for a jig? or did you do it free hand?
Free hand. Cut off the wire from the spool keeping it relatively straight. With a pair of small needle nose or jewelry pliers (I use the jewelry pliers, got em at WalMart), bend your first leg (the center one). With the leg at a 90 degree angle to the pliers, make your first wrap around the tip of the pliers, making it pretty tight. After that I just wrap each wrap around the preceding one, holding the coil flat on a table.
