They are lined up with the duel air holes on the Patriot clone. The coils are also raised up giving plenty of room to tuck the wick underneath.

Do you have to boil it or anything like that? Or is it just 100% cotton? The kind I use is ready to go after you add some juice give it a little burn or time to soak up because at first it will have a slight cotton taste if the juice has not soaked up good into the wick. Also thank you for the great advice. I really appreciate the help.I now exclusively use rayon. $12 or so at Sally's beauty supply will net a lifetime supply sized box

Here's a build I did a little while ago, granted my coils are high and the well is probably much deeper than your patriot, you can get the idea of how the wicks almost just touch the deck and there's so much room under and around the coil.

I use Puffs Japanese organic cotton sheets. It's about $7 for 200 sheets. One sheet gives you about 5-6 wicks depending on your ID.
And I say "special" expensive cotton for that reason. There are plenty of "brands" of organic cotton out there just like there are brands of nichrome wire and I'm no one to say if one is better than the other or if they are really worth the price. But not too long ago when the cotton revolution started all everyone used and worshipped was Ko Gen Doh Japanese organic cotton. Puffs is said to be the exact same thing. It's slightly brown with little seeds in it so you can tell it's organic, no need to boil or whatever, no bleach. And I see these fancy new cottons like cotton bacon and native wicks and some of them look way too white to be organic. Just my 2 cents but like I said, $7 for 200 sheets of off white slightly brown fluffy cotton sheets ready to go.

No boiling needed....its not cotton, its rayon (also called cellucotton). It gives better Nic hit, better flavor production (imo), wicks faster then cotton, and easier to use (also my opinion).
No wet tshirt taste like some cotton before its broke in. The trick to it is learning how much to use....it doesn't expand when wet like cotton, so you pack your coils much tighter then you do when using cotton. The plus side is you can't hardly over pack your coil with rayon...if it doesn't deform your coil, your good to go. The only effect of using "too much" rayon I've found, is a slight nutty taste for the first couple of hits, which I find kinda pleasant

So I got bored this morning and this happened...
Not sure what it will do yet but we'll find out later.
Also, rayon junkie here too. Stupid cheap and almost impossible to over wick. Try to trim the ends of the wick after wicking to look like cheerleaders pony tails, it helps improve the wicking.

You dont need anything more then two hands to make this wire.
You dont even need to start at the end of the wires, you can start off in the middle and when you get to the end you spin the wire around and upside down and continue to finish the length.
3 strands 32g nichhrome.
made an effort not to tighten the braid in anyway.(pulling both ends at the same time or runnng something along the braid will tighten it up)
2.5mm id.
5 wraps.
0.5ohms.
65watts on the sigelei.
Hands down the most flavour ive had in a while without being overpowering, very clean taste.

Nice job, there are so many variations of that kind of wire, i like it....
yeah imo its better than the fused clapton in the flavour department but prob more of a dense vape with the fused.
Another coil that i think is a step up from it is this>>
but its always hard to say whats better cus a new coil will always to me anyway always taste better.
regards your wire click maybe just run with it if you have the steady reading now and when you come to redo your coils make sure you take your grub screws all the way out and clean the inside of the posts, which is always a good idea anyway as they dont half collect gunk from juice

Thanks. I'm actually not having too good of a time with claptons. That build in the pic I only ended up using for a few hours before I ripped it out because the ramp up was too slow. And the claptons I built after that I found were way too poppy for me. I favor fused claptons now.Nice Clapton... It's one of the only builds I use now...

What's the deal with spaced coils now. I know with simple micro and macro coils you pinch them for even heating and whatnot but why did you space these? Why do we pinch fused claptons?

Was going to try that a year ago or so, but the only ones I could find have a steel core that the Nickel is wound around. Did you find some with a Nickel core?
Had to keep the build wire small for the post holes on this RDA. Was going to add a normal wire with the twist but this works.
Just made this...a Clapton stovetop. Came in at .6 ohm, so I made its twin and am now running a dual Clapton stovetop at .3 ohms. It's a beast at 75 watts on my variant clone
