Justadude is such a nice guy, he's continuing to rub people up the wrong way and doesn't care less if you know the secrets, i wouldn't bother asking him anything because he just likes to see people squirm, he's showing his real colours, i wouldn't like he's posts or ask him anything if i were you :)

Edit: i will ask someone for you on how to do what he did with the ribbon, after all he isn't the one that invented these wires, he's just a copycat ;)
Thanks Slippy!! Not to worried as I have a friend who is just like that. Makes for some interesting, popcorn eating threads:pop: :) I have learned so much from your last two instructional posts. Things that I had to hit my head and say "god why didn't I think of that from the beginning". Gotta lot to test tonight, especially since my Goon just arrived:rickroll:

I'm glad it helped mate, that's all I try to do for people but some just take the piddle lol, I have some screen shots on how to do that razor wire or razorback, a friend of mine was in a build team together with the guy that invented it so ...

Can you quote this post plse and reply so that that thing knows we know how to do it ;)

Haha Slip, don't worry I don't squirm easy. I think most of the people on this forum can attest to my building knowledge & ability.
But yeah .3 is the hardest ribbon to start out with. If it's N80 or SS it's gonna be super flimsy. It won't want to listen to you that much. .4x.1mm is cake compared to it if you're first starting out with ribbon cores.

Color shot of a staggerton. Should have put on an extra fuse but it ohms out at .07Ω already so I'm glad I left the room there. The vape is legit as ........nevermind its a great vape :)

Wow, I can't believe how much I've missed in the few days I've been gone....how is everyone doing in the builders pit? Nod for Slipp see still at it helping others. That's a good thing. I see one of the master's is back. What's up Tom? Last but not least JTD still the most hated guy in the forum I see, but very talented and impressive..what's up JTD? haters gonna hate, including me ...lol your putting out some nice builds, very nice!

Haven't had time for squat between back to school and work...smh

I may be hated here but I can live with it. I can build and everyone knows I love helping people. I've reached out several times to some but either got talk smacked or ignored. Not my loss. Not at all.

Got some color shots but I'll post them later. As for ribbon - Tom's post is wrong. I'm sorry Tom but your post is very, VERY wrong. I'm not gonna elaborate on that. I don't think you guys should be messing with ribbon wire if you're struggling with something like aliens. It is a different concept but regardless aliens are a ton easier to pull off successfully than staple coils. Ribbon is not easy to shape. It's against it's nature to bend vertically. It's gonna want to fold. I honestly wouldn't even mess with it until you get the easier builds down. Progress but do it smart. One thing at a time. Rome wasn't built in one day.

I feel like every one here has helped me alot.

My problem with the staple doesn't seem to be in my prep and method...I just can't clapton very well and I pull too hard on the spool sometimes. Wads the whole thing up in the middle leaving the frames on top of the ribbon. I noticed it started flat and ended oval.

Soooo...I'm working my way up the gauges.
I'm up to 36 and noticed that it's very easy to pull the core out.
Is that something I'm doing?

And when I order spools of wire for the wrap what's the longest spool you can get before it's too awkward?
I got 3x n80 34 and 2x n80 36. 100' spools.
I got more 34 because I like it a bit better on fused 24 and 22 and it gets done a little faster.
I got 0.5mm A1 too...maybe I'll get my 36 gauge down soon.
I just did a 1' section and only backed up twice! Lol
Thanks for helping everyone.

PS: I ordered a vt133...I'll probably switch to n80 and 316l cores and n80 wrap. Will I have a harder time doing the clapton?

Try using 40g over a staple or framed staple core. When I go above 40g & up on staple or framed staple cores, I generally hold the spool a bit looser making the wrap fall on to the cores easier. If I'm working with something like 44g or 46g, I'm barely holding tension on the spool/wrap because at .05mm & .04mm respectively because I don't want to snap the wrap I'm laying down over the cores.
But if you're getting bunching where the frames are coming together inside on the ribbon, it means you most likely don't have enough tension on the frames. How do you set everything up before putting it into the drill? Do you have a couple wire stops spread out at the middle & top holding everything together taught?
Also, try this; start out with your entire framed staple/staple stack all put into one third of the chuck. It will start out rotating around wider, but it'll also help out keeping things aligned. And also you don't want everything too tightly secured until you have say a half inch wrapped. Then move the wrapped section to the middle of the chuck and fasten it in while holding tension over the cores.

Slip posted how he does everything with the bound wire at the drill end holding everything together. That's pretty much how I do it too.
What do you mean by 'longest spool before it gets awkward'? I order everything up from 34-46g at 1000'. 30g&32g at 500', and everything under that at either 250' or 100' but that's how I personally do things.

Damn it's been a while since I've seen you in here! How've ya been?
I wouldn't call myself a master, I'm still working on a few things but at least I'm trying to improve my build game still as opposed to trying to 'create' builds that have already been done and are common concept.

And yeah it seems like JTD is pretty hated here. Its probably because of that whole high and mighty attitude. It seems like he's singled out his aggression on me, which I don't mind because I know haters mean I'm doing something right here haha.

8pack .4x.1rN80 core
Half SSFC with 26gSS/36g or 38gSS (I forget, it's an older build I literally just pulled out the other day)
Fused with 44gN80
Sutured another strand of 26gSS on & double fused with another 44gN80 fuse.

JTD just keep doing what your doing brother, it's clear that you have a passion for it. Your builds are on point and Im sure a bunch of us are wishing to accomplish similar builds one day. Keep up the good work dude, it's inspiring others to build and if it keeps them from wanting to smoke again it's all worth it....

Tom when you say you buy 100's of feet of wire, do you sell these?
I can't get over the beautiful jobs you all do. I've never seen anything like this.
Can these be used for dripping and tank feed?
Yes I do sell coils. It's not the reason I buy 1000' spools of high gauge though, if I were to buy smaller spools, say 250' of 36-40g, I'd be out of wire almost every other week. So for higher gauge spools, for me personally (and I emphasize that), it makes sense to buy large quantity spools of high gauge.

Edit: Yeah man of course my coils can be used for dripping & for RTA's & RBA decks. They wouldn't very useful if they couldn't haha

I just figured 1000' of wire might be heavy or bulky for wrapping onto the clapton.
If you'd watch the art of vaping's tutorial of framed staples, thats what I'm doing except im not using tape when I start to clapton, I'm using 38 awg to keep it together.
Tried free hand and swivel.

A 1000' spool of anywhere from 34-46g isn't bulky. I prefer KP spools because of their size but generally avoid them because of costs. But as for 38g, 1000' of it at .1mm has barely any weight to it. I do almost everything with a swivel and work off the spool.

I'll remember that, I just bought alot of n80 to replace what I have. I'm going to try to do TC.
I've never had a mod that could run it in TC.
I actually prefer n80 for VW too but I got a kit with assorted gauges A1 to practice with...I ran out quick.
I really thought 1000' would be too heavy.
Luckily the price difference on temco is minimal and most wire ships free...so I only lost a few bucks.
And I need a swivel for anything I do. I need over a foot for one set of coils. Freehand just doesn't work for me over 6/8".

I just ordered more 316L SS from LV over labor day, they were having a 30% off sale so I got this:

Didn't want to spend too much on wire this go around so I got 500's of 36/38g. I think 500' of 38g lasts me maybe a month or so.

What 1000' of 40g looks like on a small spool

1000' 40g compared to 100' 27g.
What mod are you running that has tc for N80?
