Why doesn't it take forever for figure eight coils to heat up? or does it?

I'm going to try this for my IGO-L. Guessing; take two nails (toothpics, drill bits, etc.) and wrap the 8s with the nails together?? Any vids on it or is it easy enough to figure out?

And indeed. I never really got into or understood dual coils, so forgive my bumbles as I attempt to speak tech.
As for heating, it is amazingly responsive and my battery was only reading 3.7 volts when I tested it. I was actually expecting the opposite and for the coil to be a complete failure, but it has pleasantly surprised me.
As for building videos- there may be one or several hundred out there, but I didn't look. In a different thread, another member had posted some diagrams she made in MS paint for coil ideas and I thought it looked like fun, so I tried and ended up with what you saw.
I used 2 small screwdrivers the diameter of my wick and just started looping in a figure 8. Once I got a few coils I grabbed the ends with some pliers and pulled the loops snug. All that was left was adjusting the coils (do this while the wire is still on the tools) fitting it between the posts and bending the legs for the connections. In all actuality, it took all of 10 minutes.
My apologies to anyone who has done this before me- my intent was not to take credit for anyone else's master plan.
So, is yours a single strand of wire, or is it twisted. (this other,sicarius, one is twisted wire; so that IS a dual coil)
Cool thanks, gonna try it tomorrow. I'm thinking of doing 10-12 figure 8s and make the wraps as close as possible, like stacked micro coils. Sounds like a fun build.

The one sicarius shown looked like a single wire, with the each leg doubled over and twisted, but the actual coil not. I'm curious the reason for the legs that way.

Just a single strand. The twisted wire pictured above is some serious business- like a scaled-down power line connector... But impressive.
I believe the point I was trying to make was that it had the benefits of having 2 coils on a single 1ohm wire, as opposed to running 2 separate coils at 1ohm each to get the same effect. Am I correct then in my statement that resistance is thereby lowered by this type of "dual coil" setup? Derr....
If you had two wires (each one making a coil) you would have double strength. It would be a seriously heavy hitting build. (so, I guess you're correct; but before you said the opposite, and in both statements seem to imply that it would be a less intense vape)

If the actual coil is only one wire but the legs are folded over and twisted, I'm not sure how the wire would act on the ends.

OH, yeah, took a closer look. I hadn't seen that the twist ("second wire") coming from the post ends at the coil. Pointless. (Unless you want to hang your coil out the window; but keep your knuckles warm inside the house.)

Alrighty, in my first attempt since my surgery, and 2nd attempt overall, this is what I came up with.
And it works! No shorts (although I think I'm cruisin' for one, you'll see where in these photos) and
it's wicking properly. My multimeter says this is a 1.8Ohm coil, and if that's correct, then I definitely
need to go lower, as this is darn light on the vapor and flavor.
But I did successfully complete the pulse method, so the only oxidation is from that. Looking back
through my macros I can see where the coil loses contact with the mesh in at least two places.
So, all-in-all, I'm pleased that it "works" but I still have a ways to go before it performs very well.
I'm still pretty proud of myself.

should've added that this is an RSST on a China GG.
And I think my 2 cent fuse is dead, the mod won't fire with it attached
to the battery, so right now this is sitting on my desk with no battery
installed, for safety.

I never thought I'd vape anything at 6v on my VAMO. I just got around to building my AGI in drip mode, 30g 8/7 wrap around 1/32" Nextel.
