Glassgal, the set it and forget theory goes back to the "salty eggs" thing we talked about wayyyy back in this thread. My main point now is that VW allows for much finer voltage tuning than VV (something which we should all be able to agree is not a bad thing, and something that I've proven beyond all reasonable doubt).

Edit: Any time I'm comparing VW to VV please note that I'm referring to both in 0.1 increments

...The ProVarinati are everywhere and have more time than you have to argue because most of them are older than your grandfather. With age comes wisdom. The ProVarinati are wise. Don't burn your bridges. 3 years from now, we'll still be here and when you've graduated and are semi-rich, you'll be too embarrassed to proudly announce your coveted, $2,500 24-karat ProVari v4. Just playing with ya. I'm bored, but enjoying my new vape toys too much. Good luck in Day 9 of the 12 Days of Giveaways contest. :thumb:

Damn Sig... for a person who jumped from iTaste & Halo to SID and used the SID and carto tanks for 2 weeks or less, you sure are a wealth of knowledge. You've come a long way. You make me want to go out and get a SID. Oh wait... I already own one! And a Vamo V3. And a V5. And an iTaste. And 15 Tritons. And 4 ProVaris. And 13 mech mods (and no, contrary to your DNA30 mech killer argument, mechs will never go away). And 4 brands of cigalikes. And 3 squonkers. And a partridge in a pear tree. Crap... I forgot what my point was. Anyway... it's good to see you absorbing vaping knowledge from experience like a sponge. I just hope you realize that everywhere you're posting on this website and its subforums, we're all the same people. And most of the people answering your questions elsewhere on this site who just happen to own and use whatever you have, also own ProVaris. And Tritons. And SIDs, etc. Most of us are happy for you. Happy that you're happy with your choices and are having good vapes. You'd get along a lot better if you'd pass your valuable knowledge on to those specifically looking for it and without trying to change members' minds and opinions. I don't hang out in the Lavatube subforum because I don't have anything valuable to share there. And if I was contemplating purchasing a Lavatube, started reading the subforum to gain current owners' knowledge, I surely wouldn't base my Lavatube purchasing decision on the mindset and tone of posts in a forum. The ProVari subforum is probably the worst place on this site to continue an argument. The ProVarinati are everywhere and have more time than you have to argue because most of them are older than your grandfather. With age comes wisdom. The ProVarinati are wise. Don't burn your bridges. 3 years from now, we'll still be here and when you've graduated and are semi-rich, you'll be too embarrassed to proudly announce your coveted, $2,500 24-karat ProVari v4. I never claimed the dna30 chip would kill the mech mod. I thought that there was a chance it could and wanted to learn exactly why it would or would not. I think the spirited debate taught me quite a bit not only about the limitations but the possibilities and merits of both systems. It's called playing the devils advocate.

As for this thread I wanted to play devils advocate again only in more of a trolling the trollers kind of way cause I was too keen on the way the OP's question, which was one I had also liked and answer to, was handled. So I trolled back and in doing so have learned more about provaris than I even anticipated. Win Win.

And yes, I have learned quite a bit in the last month and I am still learning and will continue to learn, debate and pass on the knowledge I gain from here and from my personal trials and experimentations. The only thing I love more than learning is passing on knowledge.

You know... I'm a pretty picky nose... as in... my OTHER hobby is blending perfumes and collecting commercial perfumes. I don't even need to set my voltage in .1 increments, it's usually .4 increments (3.2v, 3.8v, 4.2v, 4.8v and 5.0v are my standards for ANY juice and build). So you know, I have rebuilt my own RBA (badly), gotten other people's RBA builds, and used RBA builds from the factory... so I have coils with ohms all over the place (from 1.1 - 2.2).

I DIY, and I collect other people's juices too out of curiosity, and I've yet to find a build (doing RBA & RDA as well now) or a carto, or a head, that requires more than those volts I listed.

What are you vaping that you need .1 increments in volts, let alone FINER volt adjustments?? You have been on this for so long, you have me very very curious:).

Can one really taste the difference in that fine of an adjustment, especially when you consider the state of a person's taste buds after smoking for a number of years?

looks like ikenvape is out of stock :(

so it looks like my choice is either boge or smok tech

getting ikenvape cartos is like getting madmurdocks pluid, you gotta jump on it when they restock and buy in bulk or you'll be left waiting till next month. for now just go with smok, that's what ibtanked sells with their tanks on their site, and they work ok

I don't think there are many people who would be able to say that they can tell the difference between 3.59V and 3.61V (I know I can't). I'm a tinkerer though (and a control freak), so I never view more control as a bad thing. :D

EDIT: I find that every time I start defending VW it makes my armpits sweat. That should tell you how much I believe in it!

Hey everybody, OP here...

I just saw that this thread has grown by several pages since my last post, a lot of pretty negative. I wanted to steer the discussion back to what I believe to be the original source of conflict: Variable Wattage. Before I go any further, let me be clear that when I created this thread one of the things that I was attempting to ask was if anybody knew of a VW Provari model being released or rumored to be released in the near future (something I would want to know about considering my plans to purchase one next month and my appreciation for VW as a feature). That being said, as soon as I mentioned VW and Provari in the same sentence, things got ugly... fast. I actually found myself defending VW as a feature (something I did not foresee at all and in all honesty wasn't fully prepared to do- I was taken completely off-guard by the negative feelings people had towards VW as a feature and the apparent negative feelings some people had about me for mentioning it). That being said, over the course of this discussion I feel that I've proven my point in regards to the value of VW. I now just want to reiterate why VW is such a valuable feature even if you eliminate the entire idea of "set-it-and-forget-it" (one of my original defenses). The following example is something that I posted several pages back and fear may be lost in the shuffle for many people joining late. I now present to you my closing argument in favor of VW:

When comparing VW (in 0.1 watt increments) to VV (in 0.1 volt increments), the following statement is an inarguable fact. Variable wattage allows for much finer control over voltage output than a VV-only device. A greater "resolution", if you will, which can allow you to taste your juices at specific precise voltages that you wouldn't be able to achieve on a VV-only device. Please see the example below which proves this to be true.

I'm with ya man. I'd love to see ver3.0 come with VW in .1W increments, grooves on the top of the head for airflow and heaven forbid a more competitive price, but heck, I'd take the VW and airflow and call it a day if they would toss in a beauty ring

You can now buy Mad Murdock's from a regular vendor. Vapingwatch has become the distributor.

This thread has to be one of the most entertaining ones I have read in my short time here on ECF. I originally thought of the word troll at first, but then it got better, and then it escalated so quickly... but I was invested in reading 20 some pages, so I saw it through to the end.
But, I digress. This thread educated me on the Provari more than I could ever have hoped, and reassured me that my purchase of a zombie green Provari was the right choice.
So, in a round about way, thanks to all who contributed! Now I must find some of that sexy gear glassgal showed off! ;)

you're not far off. I was kinda trolling but more playing the devils advocate for the sake of delving deeper into the subject to really get to the heart of the matter... with some trolling thrown in to troll the trolls, but my intentions were and are purely for the sake of discussion and understanding

Oh... as for smoking... did you know that some of the finest and most famous perfume blenders on earth are/were smokers?

Guy Robert, who created some of the most opulent fragrances on earth was a smoker (he just passed away this year), along with many many other famous perfumers. And... tobacco is a VERY common note in the most popular perfumes of all time, even for non-smokers (Amouage, Dioressence, Hermes Caleche, Hermes Equipage, etc).

Well, I get the intellectual curiosity of having it, but isn't needing something like that equivalent to needing to buy a shotgun to kill a fly? Or getting a glass of water 1 drop at a time from the tap:)?

I think some of us like arguing for the sake of arguing (like me:)! LOL!).

yup yup, I was watching the site on Friday. He said on his FB page we was restocking at 6pm on Friday and I was curious to see how fast he would sell out. I came real close to getting some but after trying a supposed faithful pluid replica from an avid pluid lover I decided that I would most likely end up putting 29ml of pluid up in the classifieds :p

I would equate more closely to having 3x finer control over the throttle in a vehicle. That is to say it is something that many people won't notice or take full advantage of, but something that is definitely a technological advancement nonetheless. I would go even further by equating it to being able to control the saltiness of your food by 10 grains of salt at a time instead of 30 grains of salt at a time. And if you've learned one thing about me by now it should be that I like to argue too! :D

Oh man I wished I was graduating in 3 years, it looks like it's gonna be 7 years and that puts me in my 40s. At least I'll be doing something I love. By then I don't know if I'll still be vaping, how many years are you supposed to vape after quitting analogs before you quit vaping anyways??? If I am and I do make it big, I'll get one of those Otto Carter mods and post plenty of pics of it right here on ECF in all it's glory!

GL with the halo contest, 9 is my lucky number!

Joe... I think that makes sense... kinda. But what you want doesn't exist in a stable form from my understanding... which is why Provari probably isn't/won't do it. The one major benefit of buying a Provari is reliability. It's not like a computer, it's more like a screwdriver. You can drop it, step on it, hit someone over the head with it and it will keep on working:). I think all the VW chips made today are a bit more delicate than that...

Sigmus... don't count on quitting vaping anytime soon. I tried to quit for years and years... literally everything. I spent far more money trying to quit smoking than on all my vape gear (and I've been furiously spending on vape gear). The biggest reason I think I couldn't quit is because I started too young, and my brain is reliant on nicotine to fully function. I literally get stupider when I stop smoking, it's not a physical craving, it's the feeling of mental deficiency that brings me back to the nicotine again and again.

Well, until I develop alzheimers where it won't matter if I can think clearly or not, I'll continue vaping, because I know already I am dependent on the nicotine. I read a scientific paper about that some time ago (I think it was NIH), which concluded that if we start smoking very young, we actually create endorphin replacements using nicotine, so that without it, not only are we dumber, we are meaner, madder, and will stay that way forever without it. Thus the Provari. I figure 10 years from now, I'll probably have a whole lot of Provari...
