I'm not a battery expert myself but I think I remember reading that the IMR's were recommended in VV that step the voltage up, like the LT and Provari's but if you were using the batteries in series and basically reducing the voltage they didn't need to be IMR's.

Those are protected. See the ridge at the top. Thats the PCD. the battery and the PCN are incased in the outer wrapper.

But IINM there are unprotected batteries that also have the ridge. It used to be that you could feel a wire running down the length of the battery and that was a definative way to tell that they're protected, now not so much.

My IMR's have the ridge, but they're not protected batteries. My Ni-MH batteries aren't protected and they also have the ridge.

For those PVs they recommend IMR high drain. The IMR because its safer, and High drain to handle the step up with switching boost or PWM. Needs to be safer if you are going to stress it more. So the Rocket must be a switching buck or PWM. or linear voltage regulator. The two batteries in series will give a full charge at 8.4 volts or so.

FYI.. Linear is 70% efficient, Boost and Buck about 94%, and PWM 97% +.

OMG.... As if APVs themselves weren't mind boggling enough!!!! This battery stuff is crazy! I guess I just trusted that a battery that came with the unit would be what's its supposed to use. I haven't felt any excess heat, they charged without a problem. It's just working really well & I'm happy with it. I haven't cranked it up past about 4.3 though. I don't think I have a carto that could take it. (uh oh, I feel an order comin on!)

That's very good news. PWM is suppose to be the most efficient on battery usage.

Nope Briar....you are not alone. I filled two of them yesterday (evening), and then left them all night (sitting upright). Vaping on them this morning, and getting nice easy draw, lots of vapor.....but very little flavor. No leaking at all, and haven't had a dry hit. I put a couple of pretty strong flavored juices in them to test after your previous comments.....pineapple upside down cake, and peppermint ice cream. Can't test the pineapple at all, and the peppermint, which is usually very strong, tastes kind of like mentholatum. Not getting any of the sweet notes on either of them. Hoping someone comes up with a fix for the flavor issue, as they work great other than that.....but "that" is a biggie.

Checked them on the ProVari...one measured 3.0, and the other 3.1. I've tried them on a KGO, and the ProVari, at various voltages. At 4.2, they started tasting burnt to me...but I'm pretty much a lower voltage person....usually don't take anything over 4.2.

Update on the Scorpions: I've been vaping on these all day....took them with me when I did my work rounds today. Both are half full now....and I am definitely getting more flavor than I did this morning. Half full might be a little misleading, as I topped them off after the tube sucked up about 1/3 of the original juice. One of them gave me that "warning vape" that a couple of people have mentioned a few times...the other never did. I'm still reserving final judgement on these....and waiting for reports from the "modders" to see if removing some of the wick makes a difference.

ok we will be dropping alpha very soon, starting with 3 products, then followed by a whopping 8 products all in one week or so, this will continue all summer long and beyond.......................

So are the other 8 coming this week??? I'm sitting on an order waiting to see if more stuff is coming this week.

the functions of the protection cuircuit are only to to prevent over charging/discharging - both conditions are unsafe and can kill the bat. it also limits the amount of current that can be drawn (i think its 2.5 amps but don't quote me) and then it trips like a fuse. usually putting it in the charger will reset the 'fuse' and get you going again but i think there are some that reset themselves after tripping.
it would be a very simple matter to put the protection in the mod instead of the battery. (in fact the german mod Kronos being made now that is set up just that way)

Nope, removing the wick hasn't made any diff. for me on the one I'm using as far as flavor is concerned. I think it made the wicking a tad less, but I'm not sure. I put the wick back though.

For me it wicks great so far. No problems whatsoever. But I hold my PV close to horizontal all the time, and I'm convinced it makes a difference because I tried holding it vertically and the wicking was drastically worse. And maybe I'm just luckier than most with this particular unit.

The flavor is a tad better on the third tank, but still very, very mmmmeh. I still don't taste the caramel, just an apple with a tad extra sweetness to it. Tomorrow I am going to break out the second unit and try a totally different juice in it: a fairly strong flavored vanilla custard type, maybe that one will work better here.

The sweet spot with this one seems to be around 3.8 V. Nicely warm vapor, and lots of it, and as much flavor as I can get out of this pup.

Getting a bit of wetness around the base - not sure where it's coming from yet. It's really not much, may even be I dropped some juice on it or something...

P.S. No cracking so far with Caramel Apple. Though, this juice didn't crack my v1 ViVi tank until a month into use, so that's not saying much.

I didn't take the Scorpion to work, but left it home, upright. When I got home, I grabbed it and tried it... BLECHHHH! Dry hit. Whether it makes sense or not, tipping it did make a difference. Tip it a couple times and I got a couple good hits but the danger of the dry hit all the time is a deal breaker for me. I dialed down to 3.2, and still burnt tasting. Sorry guys, I don't like this one.
