A few points:

First, BigScreenD could have been a lot worse. I thought his wording was appropriate and likely quite accurate based on my experience with this item. I wrote a few replies last night and kept deleting them because I don't want to be a part of the negativity. I think there's a line and BSD didn't come close to crossing it. Being told how we should post is not likely to be constructive in the end. It's more likely to spread animosity and bad feelings.

Second, I've tried vaping without the plug, releasing pressure by taking the plug out and putting it back in, blowing through it, taking primer puffs, vaping while tilting it, holding it vertically, different pg/vg ratios, different nic levels, different juice colors, tobacco flavors, dessert flavors, sour flavors, hot flavors, fruity flavors, different voltages from 3.0 to 4.8, took the whistle tip off. I'll admit, I haven't tried using it while doing a hand-stand but I think that would be redundant at this point.

My bottom line is: If the item requires that I do this much to try to make it work, even if it does work in the end, it's not a carto that should be sold. The goal should be to carry units that are as fiddle-free as possible. This just doesn't qualify, in my opinion.

Third, I asked this earlier but it probably got lost in the shuffle. If this uses a vacuum, it shouldn't leak through the tip if turned upside down, right? If that's the case, then this thing has a huge fault in that area.

I noticed the Alpha page doesn't have these listed anymore. Is it because there will be no more testing or because GV is outta stock and isn't expecting any more shipments? I think taking them off the list is a good move, regardless of the reasons behind it.

Teach, I agree. I try to remember to mention the product, but I tend to forget if I'm replying to someone's post about it.

Tina, it seems to me that the c8v3 works for some and not for others. The Scorpion was the same way. I don't think it was split down the middle, though. Not enough feedback on the c8v3 yet to say, but I would guess that there's more duds than winners.

What's odd is that it was great for the first couple of drags and then nothing but trouble after that. I wonder why that would be?

Okay, I just my first really gnarly hits off the C8v3. I'd left it standing upright for a while & all the juice stayed inside (Yay!). Put it on the Alpha dongle @ the 3rd setting (4.2v), took a couple of primer puffs and got great vapor & flavor. Had to run the kids to art camp, so I left the dongle laying on its side. Came home, sat down, and took a puff... Yuck! Nasty dry burnt taste. Took a few more primer puffs with the same result. Dropped to voltage to 3.6v & got a good hit, followed by yuck. Dropped the voltage again, same result.

I remember the v1 took about half a tank to really get cooking, but I'm not sure how I'm gonna make it though the first tank (half? hopefully) on this v3. Good thing I've got multiple PVs w/ multiple flavors to get the nasty taste out of my mouth, 'cause my espresso couldn't do it.

second tank on the C8V3

Ran a full tank of 75-25 tobacco last night. Filled this morning with the same stuff. The first tankful was better. I wouldn't have expected to see a degradation through use. I find that I'm using more primer hits and the dry hits are more frequent. After a dry hit, I'm pulling a primer puff, which is followed by 2-3 drags of greatly reduced vapor production and flavor, followed by 1 good hit then 1 awesome hit then dry again.

The hardest thing about these for me is that they are dead sexy, and when you get that great hit, it is REALLY great. These are, to me, a microcosm of the vaping tribulations I have experienced: the awesomeness is overshadowed by inconsistency. The good hits are good enough that they're almost worth fighting through the inconsistencies, but I wouldn't use this as my main vape. If these were in regular rotation, I would probably buy one a month or so, just because the 20% is worth a gamble now and again. I am going to keep vaping this one, a tank and a half is not enough to give the best overall impression, but if it wasn't an Alpha product, it would probably be enough for me to determine if I would purchase it again.

Kudos to Bad and Danno for sticking with these things. These are almost incredible, and they have a tremendous potential, if the issues are fixed. Just another example of how these guys are striving to improve the world of vaping. Thanks guys.

I've used 3 or 4 tanks so far, maybe 5 on the C8V3. its not getting better. Best I can get is 3.5 volts seems to allow enough juice to flow through to contain the dry hits a bit. I usually just blow in first, then take a hit and repeat every couple of hits depending on how dry it is. maybe the other 4 I got are better, I just been playing with one so far.

EDIT: I got home and grabbed a C8V1. I have used these every day since they came out. at least 1 or two tanks a day and I have never cleaned them. No comparison, blows the v3 away :(

Would ECF give us a subfolder for Alpha Reviews so we can have a separate thread for each product rather than one thread with everything?

I'm not sure that would be the best solution. There would be a lot of crossover from one thread to another.
ie: scorpion used with dongle, scorpion used with rocket, dongle with c8v3, rocket with c8v3, etc.
So far there haven't been that many alpha products released at one time and as long as we identify which products we're talking about I think it's less confusing to keep it together rather than having to decide which thread is relevant to what I'm using and want to comment on. Just my :2c: :)

I agree with the subfolder idea. I think the instances that we will be using two products in conjunction will be rare, and only by happenstance. I don't foresee testing say, a dongle with a C8 to see if they work together, the vast majority of testing will be to see how one product performs, otherwise you don't know where fail points lie.

C8v3 on a old EGO batt w/100%VG diy Jasmine....

Ok so just finished 2nd tank ....
dry hits only lasted about quarter to half way thru 1st tank & it has worked fine ever since .

Flavor is good & vapor production is VG normal big poofs. Draw is pretty tight, but not uncomfortable .

I was down to a very small amount of juice left last night so I removed & set on tray, NO LEAKS .
I also filled this time, right side up ...instead of the upside down thing, it did bubble up thru hole a little, but worked fine .
I just filled it up,used q-tip to clean up excess...replaced plug & tip ...blew out in case & added batt & vaped.

I think next tank I will try a vv device to see how high it will go b-4 dry hits start.*

* post edit
...does OK till about 4.0omh on twist ,but 4.2omh was yucky & jasmine started fading @ bout 3.8 omh & carto started getting hot 'bout there too... 3.4omh seems best @ moment on this batt.

I seem to remember C8 was built to be optimized on an ego batt...so it probably won't go far! The one I am using seems to prefer around 3.2.

I so wanted the C8 to be a go..I picked up two of them...filling, no problem...and I must be doing something wrong, because I have NO leaking in either...filled both at the same time..."a" I let set for an hour before attempting to fire on an old 510 joye ego...VERY small puffs, dry hits...allowed to set for another hour: small puffs, one semi-decent puff, then dry, burned puffs...

"b" was left untouched....

In the morning after 8 hours untouched: the same result: one SMALL puff, followed NBC what is now dry, harsh puffs.
Continued to be that way thru 24 hour mark.

"b" was picked up after 24 hours, after reading remarks here, removed plug and am trying to vape sans plug...it is working better, Butnwent to burnt, nasty tast within three SMALL puffs...too darned bad about that too, because these are down right SEXY, and I love that they can have little protector caps on them..I will fiddle with them tomorrow and see what test two brings...

Well, THAT didn't work.....pulled the silicone plug out of the top, put the mouthpiece back on, and took a couple drags....not bad....not great, but i didn't primer puff at all, and it was hitting much better. Still short on vapo, with a little gurgle. Then I set it down for 15 minutes and....dump city! Covered my ego with have a tank of juice..... I have an idea....just bring back the V1....some of us (translated 'yours truly') will buy them

I am wondering if there is an eta on more of the passthrough mods. I read several of the post and didn't see what looked liked like a date. I would really like to try one or two out. i had one in my cart and was waiting just a day or two to find a couple of mor e things I could add to my cart and poof they were all gone (sad face). On the upside I am really liking the Stardust rebuildable LR cartoz, there is a lil-bit of learning curve but once you get that down it's some good vaping. Better than Clearomizers and a better price point since you can replace the atty part. I give them a Thumbs up

If any one could be persuaded to part with one please let me know. The gesture would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a ton.
