I got my Scorpion tanks today. Am still trying to get the first one to wick. I have tried putting some juice in the center tube but all I am getting is a dry-burnt taste. Not sure if I want to ruin anymore juice testing the 2nd one. imo this product needs work before I would buy more. But, thanks for the op to try them out.
If you just want to let it sit and absorb juice without fiddling with it, you have to let it sit for a really, really long time. There is a lot of wick in there, and it takes several hours - you'll see the level of the juice in the tank go down by about a third by the time it's done.
IMO, if you try to hurry and saturate the wicks from the top - dripping juice in there - all it does is wet the top part, and you'll get a couple of good hits and then dry-city. I don't know why it works that way, but I think you really just have to let it sit - as long as overnight - to get good wicking performance out of these.
Try it with your second one - you'll see. You don't even have to keep it horizontal during this initial absorbing stage. I had mine vertical the whole time. It's amazing how much juice these wicks take up.
If you let it do that, you probably won't have any problems with wicking. And, judging from personal experience, do tilt. Don't know why, but it makes a difference between constant dry hits, and really good wicking. I really haven't had any serious dry hits with these. I seriously don't like the very (to me) muted flavor on these, and mine leaked in a couple of days (from the top, for some weird reason), but the wicking was one thing that definitely was not a problem - provided you let the wicks do their work.
