I used parallel 32 for the longest time before I got 28. Not to knock ss, but the 28 stainless is annoying to me. Maybe it's my ocd, but I always screw up the coil and have slightly uneven wraps and springiness. If it wraps with uneven tension the less tensioned wraps are looser. With the springyness then it's loose on the mandrel and affects setting the coil and I get an end wrap that's too tight from it turning down tight on the mandrel at the legs.. These things directly effect coil longevity for me. And in effect makes 32g kanthal nearly easier to work with to me. I may try wrapping a 2mm mandrel and see if it Springs enough to then fit tight on a 2.5 mandrel for setting.

Props to you if you use ss of course.. Just my thoughts. No dislikes please.:)
Funny, I actually use SS over other wires because its less springy and super easy to work with.
So far I tried Kanthal, NiChrome, Titanium, Nickel and NiFe and nothing is as easy as SS.
I mostly use 29g 304 SS. Maybe other alloys are more annoying to work with; I always wonder why people complain about the springiness of SS.

SS430 is quite springy. The roll I have has actually become 'sprung' and made it harder for me to get the proper amount off of it to rebuild. I do manage, though. ;)
My roll is sprung also, it should have been on a larger spool.

Stop into Michaels or get them from Amazon, it was the very first thing I put on my roll of SS430 from Unkamen as it is very springy.

Ok so day 1 of @JeremyR s test, and I looked under the hood, may have been a mistake. Flavor is still amazing no change there, but it looks ugly. Trimmed it up a bit more.

Focus on taste not looks. :)

The discoloration looks mostly like condensate. If you look at the condensate drop on the center post it's a match... You don't want the tails to touch the chamber walls of you'll get more discoloration like that.

There appears to be a little bit of back flow, as you can see the bigger tail pieces are darker than the other side. This is an imbalance. The one tail is more dense than the other and will want to draw warm juice to the thick side tail, from inside the coil. The bushy tail has room to expand its fibers apart* to suck juice to it.

Overall I'd say trim the dark tails a little more. When you get it right.. the next time you check the wick it will magically be running near clear without the discoloration.

Also see that tight coil choking slightly on the one side. That's making that side of the wick too tight.... Still useable - experiment with cutting the tails before you pull it out, it can keep on going and going..

Remember it still tastes good!

So a bit tight, right now I am getting a lovely semi burnt taste that just started.

On the side with the smaller uneven coil wraps only. iow, density looks good if the coil was even. You can see how much the wick sticks above that outer wrap on the left side. The density looks good on the other side of the coil with even wraps. The bottom of the coil is even, but the top is short on that side so the wraps must be smaller.

You could to angle cut all the way to the coil edge on that side to relive it some.

That is annoying, I dislike when that happens. Make sure your mandrel stays in the coil till it's fully set. It's usually tightening the legs or moving the coil that causes that for me. Or springy wire.

You can start to overheat juice with high power if your power level is higher than the draw strength will allow. Sometimes just vaping it out or lowering the power for a bit will clear it up.

Looks pretty good... From the angle I can tell the one on the right looks about right.. Depends how it feeds from tank, if it's not fast enough trim that angle all the way down to a point at the bottom to open it up more.

See how it sets when wet down and in place. Trim again to even out, remove any that will stick out more than others or touch the chamber walls.

Try it out and see.

Thank you so much for your help! I filled it & so far it's great! My juice taste so much better! I'll continue to vape on it tonight & see how it does.
