I'm going to stick my neck out here and predict that we will say that SS 316 is to wire what rayon is to wick.

I've only tried 316L but based on other people's comments and having gone through a few tanks on regulated and non regulated devices, I'll say it is an improvement all around.
I said that to myself a day or 2 after I tried it. It improves the vape to me in similar ways rayon did. Tasteless being one of them. Smoothness being another. Safety being another. I feel better after having switched, another similariry. But basically my vape just proved to be profoundly nicer. ..so yes... IMHO SS 316 is to wire what rayon is to wick. A dream team.

I do wick like you do on the Silverplay but if you've followed the thread in the Serpent only a handful of peeps don't experience the seeping after filling. Most are using cotton & that I have down. But with rayon, I know there are a least two of our "rayonati's" have Serpents. Perhaps they can tell me what I'm doing wrong? Maybe more rayon in the tails? Right now I'm doing it like this View attachment 554025
Kindly submitted by one of "us". Sorry forgot your name.
With the Theorem I don't think of it as the "genny tilt" you kinda tilt it to vape anyway. With rayon it stays saturated til the last drop.

Yup, that's my crappy pic :D. I use a larger diameter coil, I think that one is on a 7/64ths drill bit, so there's a bit more filling the channels width wise. FWIW I've been keeping my JFC about half open, but YMMV.

to all those using 316l and saying it's the best thing ever, are you using it in power mode or tc? i'm hooked on tc, not afraid of tio2 and i think ti is the best thing ever. i am really looking forward to rayon wicking tho....
I am using in power right now

I use it for both... just one of the reasons I prefer it.

Like the Sloths KGD, my Ti now lives in a drawer gathering dust since I picked up SS316L & SS430. I was never bothered by TiO2 either as I never dry burned a Ti coil hot enough to cause it.

The SS works in both TC and Power (I use it in each) and it performs flawlessly. Why use something like Ni200 or Ti GR1 when the SS wire is just much more versatile. No sag, dry burnable, spaced or contact, No taste, SS430 also has no Nickel for those who are allergic to such.

I was using the Theorem's Notch coil in TC at 460F/35W on the Pico and was getting a great vape from it. I moved it to my iPV D2 as I was testing out some 26g Ni200 wire in the Russian 3.0 with the Pico. Well the D2 doesn't do SS and also has no step down, so my setting of 30W on the D2 was ignored and the 0.25 ohm Notch coil was fired at 60W... I thought it might pop the Notch coil, but I couldn't get over how flavorful and dense the vape was from it. I might just have to run the Theorem in Power mode from now on as that SS316L Notch coil can deliver the goods!!

well, ok. i will admit to a certain stubborness in wanting to use a pure elemental wire as my coil. i have a good understanding of how the tc tech works and the low tcr of 316ss has put me off so far. i'm gonna get a roll of 316l from temco and look for a vendor of 430 for it's higher tcr. i really dig the idea of temp control and want to continue using it as my power source. thanks for the replies and i sure do respect the opinions offered.

And respect back to you my friend. Whatever wire works for you is the best to use! I'm amazed at how many have hopped on the SS bandwagon, but just because it seems to be working for many doesn't mean it would work for all. :)

You got me interested in squonk's, going to check your vids out later today.
There are regulated Squonk kers too, they're just expensive for the most part. The CC mechs I use are pricey too. Reo's are fairly inexpensive for what they are, so that'd a good starting point. I've got a lot of vids on them all
